JSE closes almost flat – Friday

JSE frnt vw12-15 Main market stocks collectively barely moved forward on Friday, with declining stocks being out-numbered by advancing ones 2 to1 with 10 stocks rising in the main market versus 5 declining. For the overall market, 29 securities changed hands, in all market segments with 14 rising and 5 declining.
The market closed with 11,607,440 units valued at $57,615,849 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 8,492,562 units changing hands, valued at $27,397,677.
The JSE Market Index gained just 7.60 points to 153,612.85 the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 8.50 points to end at 170,627.32 and the JSE combined index fell 215.80 points to close at 161,887.63.

Desnoes and Geddes jumped sharply back to $29.99 by the close of trading on Thursday as investors took advantage of the much lower price than that offered by Heineken for the stock. Main market stocks made a moderate recovery on Thursday, with declining stocks out numbering advancing ones 13 to 9 as 32 securities changed hands, in all market segments.
The market closed with 11,655,021 units valued at $94,676,748 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 8,580,380 units changing hands, valued at $31,720,793.

Seprod fell $2.80 with 11,625 units changing hands at $19.20 and Supreme Ventures closed at $4.70 with 274,835 units changing hands after shedding 29 cents.

Caribbean Cement fell $4 with 36,000 shares to be at $26, after the company reported full year results to December last year with earnings of $1.82 after an exceptional charge and one off income. Carreras traded just 100 but gained $1.60 to $65.70, Gleaner Company traded 123,047 but fell 35 cents to $2.10.
