More declines for Junior Market

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Tuesday with 34 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 4,382,872 units amounting to $10,759,249 compared to 7,002,559 units for $26,321,318 on Monday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 16 securities advanced, 14 declined and four remained unchanged. The Junior Market Index declined a further by 25.45 points following Monday’s 103 points fall to close at 3,250.10. At the close of the market, the average PE of the was 13.5.
Trading ended with an average of 128,908 units for an average of $316,449 in contrast to 205,958 units for an average of $774,156 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 195,651 units valued at $429,219 and previously 160,734 units valued at $468,747. In contrast, December closed with an average of 521,319 shares at $1,344,719 for each security traded.

At the close of the market, Access Financial dropped $6.99 in trading of 18,222 units to close at $29.01, AMG Packaging gained 28 cents, exchanging 5,828 shares at $2.35, Blue Power climbed 12 cents, trading 80,879 stock units at $4.90, CAC 2000 lost $1.50 with 251 shares changing hands to close at $13.50. Caribbean Cream closed trading of 15,187 units and gained 5 cents to end at $3.80, Caribbean Producers closed with a loss of 20 cents at $4.80, after swapping of 58,200 shares. Consolidated Bakeries exchanged 81,779 shares to close at $1.75 after falling 5 cents, Derrimon Trading ended with 79,606 shares, changing hands, after rising 1 cent to end at $2.59. Elite Diagnostic gained 2 cents and exchanged 145,239 shares at $4.90, Everything Fresh inched 1 cent higher and exchanged 8,000 shares at $1.07, Express Catering lost 54 cents in trading 28,615 units to close at $6.11. Fontana ended trading with 87,090 shares, after rising 1 cent to end at $7.01, Fosrich closed trading of 36,796 units and gained 25 cents to end at $4.44, General Accident fell 75 cents in trading of 53,013 units at $6.35. Honey Bun climbed 37 cents in exchanging 46,289 shares at $8.39, iCreate closed 2 cents higher at 73 cents, with 22,800 stock units changing hands, Indies Pharma rose 8 cents in trading 78,474 shares at $3.20, Iron Rock Insurance lost 10 cents in exchanging 100 shares to close at 3.90 cents. ISP Finance fell $2.99 to end at $29 with 100 stock units crossing the exchange. Jamaican Teas close with a loss of 47 cents at $6.11, in swapping of 36,919 shares, Lasco Distributors climbed 30 cents after exchanging 116,228 shares at $3.30. Lasco Financial ended trading with 23,699 shares, after rising 37 cents to end at $4.47, Lasco Manufacturing ended trading of 4,298 shares, after rising 50 cents to end at $4.50, Limners & Bards declined 5 cents in swapping 42,845 units at $2.94. Lumber Depot ended with a loss of 1 cent at $1.50, with 2,400,221 stock units changing hands, MailPac Group shed 2 cents trading 787,205 units at $2.10. Main Event declined by 10 cents to settle at $6 with 22,255 shares changing hands, Medical Disposables added 10 cents in exchanging 1,138 shares at $7.10 and SSL Venture closed 20 cents higher at $1.20, with 36,788 stock units changing hands. In the junior market preference segment, Derrimon Trading dipped 30 cents in trading of 17,610 units at $1.80.

Junior Market biggest one-day drop

The Junior Market suffered the worse one day fall ever on Monday, with a decline of 102.64 points to close at 3,275.55 after investors slashed the prices of 23 securities down, leaving just 6 to rise as five closed unchanged.
Monday’s decline in the index surpassed the 100.65 points fall on July 7, 2016.
At the average PE of the market fell to 13.8, down sharply from 14.6 previously.
Market activity ended with 34 securities trading, resulting in 7,002,559 units valued at $26,321,318 compared to 3,502,559 units for $8,563,366 from 34 securities on Friday.
Trading ended with an average of 205,958 units for an average of $774,156 in contrast to 103,016 units for an average of $251,864 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 160,734 units with a value of $468,747 for each security, compared to 136,327 valued at $303,922 for each security traded, previously. December closed with an average of 521,319 shares at $1,344,719 for each security changing hands.

Lumber Depot gained 1 cent to end at $1.51 with a transfer of 2,302,905 stock units; Main Event gained 5 cents trading 22,291 shares to settle at $6.10, Medical Disposables shed 55 cents to end at $7 with an exchange of a mere 200 units. Paramount fell 27 cents while trading 834 shares to close at $1.83, SSL Venture Capital lost 20 cents to close at 52 weeks’ low of $1 with 185,114 stock units changing hands. tTech & Honey Bun leaves IC TOP 10

Lumber Depot is back in TOP 10 with the price at $1.50.

Jamaican stocks are off to a positive start for 2020, with the JSE all Jamaica Composite Index rising 2,715.02 points and Junior Market adding 29.23 points in two days.
This year’s movements are much stronger than for the same period in 2019 when the All Jamaica Index rose 796.77 points and the Junior Market gained 14.52 points.
Word reaching IC Insider.com is that the prospectus for the Initial Public Offer for Caribbean Assurance Brokers should be out in a matter of days, but it could be as early as Monday.
At the close of the market this past Friday, the Junior Market had two new listings while the Main Market listings remained unchanged. Lasco Distributors and Lumber Depot that fell to $1.50, reentered the TOP 10, replacing Honey Bun that closed the week at $8.49 and tTech that ended the week at $5.50.
The JSE Main Market ended the week, with an overall PE of 21.2 and the Junior Market 14.6, based on current 2019 earnings. The PE ratio for Junior Market Top 10 stocks averages 9.4 with the Main Market 10.2.
The targeted average PE ratio is 25, with several stocks trading at that level or just under, in 22 times region, currently. The TOP 10 stocks now trade at a discount of 37 percent of the average for Junior Market and Main Market stocks trade at a discount of 48 percent to the overall market.
The average projected gain for the IC TOP 10 stocks is 177 percent for the Junior Market and 132 percent for JSE Main Market based mostly on 2019 earnings.
The top three Junior Market stocks currently are Medical Disposables with projected gains of 257 percent, followed by Main Event with 246 percent and Jamaican Teas with 204 percent likely capital growth.
Radio Jamaica still holds on to the lead of Main Market stocks with projected gains with 178 percent, followed by Carreras in the number two spot, with 174 percent and Sygnus US dollar-denominated stock, with 167 percent.
IC TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns to March next year. Forecasted earnings and PE ratio for the current fiscal year are in determining potential gains. The projected increase for each stock is ranked, with highest-ranked being the most attractive. Expected values will change as stock prices fluctuate and will result in movements of the selection in and out of the lists for most weeks. Earnings per share are revised on an ongoing basis as new information is received that can result in changes in and out of the list.

The average PE of the market rose to 14.6, up from 14.4 previously.

The Junior Market recovered nearly 45 of 77 points fall suffered at the close on Monday, with investors pushing the prices of 15 securities higher against eight that declined, leaving 12 stocks trading unchanged.
The Junior Market Index gained 44.93 points to close at 3,348.97, just holding on to a moderate 3.1 percent gain for the year, well off the 18.8 percent rise in 2018. Trading ended with the average PE of the market falling to 14.4.
Market activity ended with 35 securities trading, resulting in 3,973,357 units valued at $16,004,427 compared to 23,350,277 units changing hands, valued at $88,019,533 from 29 securities on Monday.
Trading ended with an average of 113,524 units for an average of $457,269 for each stock traded, in contrast to 805,182 units at $3,035,156 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 521,319 shares at $1,344,719 compared to an average of 546,686 shares at $1,400,086 for each security traded. The Junior Market suffered a significant fall at the close of trading on Monday as investors pushed down the prices of 18 securities and just ten up, leaving four stocks trading unchanged.
The Junior Market Index dived 77.01 points to close at 3,304.04, just holding on to a moderate 1.8 percent gain for the year. Trading ended with the average PE of the market, falling to 13.8 from 14.4 at the close on Friday.
Market activity resulted in a big jump in trading levels with 29 securities trading resulting in 23,350,277 units changing hands, valued at $88,019,533, compared to on 3,410,056 shares, valued $8,477,900, from 32 securities trading on Friday. FosRich dominated trading with 18 million units, accounting for $75 million.
Trading ended with an average of 805,182 units at $3,035,156 for each stock traded, in contrast to 106,564 shares at $264,934 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 546,686 shares at $1,400,086 compared to an average of 532,595 shares at $1,310,956 for each security traded. November closed with an average of 120,579 shares at $506,880 for each security traded.

Lumber Depot lost 7 cents to end at $1.68 with a transfer of 2,090,343 stock units, MailPac gained 4 cents in trading 1,725,404 shares to settle at $2.12 changing hands, Main Event dropped 35 cents to settle at $6.15 with 94,667 shares crossing the exchange. Two new IC TOP 10 listings

With the final days of 2019 draws to a close, investors looking back must ponder how the JSE Main Market stocks outperformed the Junior Stocks by a considerable margin, by growth in the market indices and the number of shares with triple-digit gains.
At the end of the week, JSE Main Market stocks gained 33 percent to just 4 percent for the Juniors as six Main Market stocks more than doubled compared to only three Junior stocks.
The Junior Market had Lasco Distributors and Paramount Trading entering the TOP 10 last week. Still, they were replaced this week, by Honey Bun and tTech, in at number 9 and 10 positions, respectively. There were no changes to the TOP 10 listing for Main Market stocks.
The targeted PE ratio is now 25, with several stocks trading at that level or around 22 currently. The average projected gains for the IC TOP 10 stocks are 172 percent for Junior Market and 152 percent for JSE Main market Top 10 stocks.
The top three Junior Market stocks currently are Medical Disposables with projected gains of 257 percent, followed by Main Event with a potential increase of 227 percent and Jamaican Teas with 223 percent likely capital growth.
Radio Jamaica is still the leading Main Market stock, with an expected increase of 213 percent, even with the price moving up from $1.85 to $2. Pulse Investments is in at the number two spot with a projected increase of 201 percent and Sygnus US dollar-denominated stock, with likely gains of 186 percent, is next.
The JSE Main Market closed the week, with an overall PE of 20.5 and the Junior Market at 14.5, based on current year’s earnings. The PE ratio for Junior Market Top 10 stocks averages 9.4 with the Main Market PE at 10.2.
The TOP 10 stocks now trade at a discount of 35 percent of the average for Junior Market stocks and main market stocks trade at a discount of 50 percent to the overall market.
IC TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns to March next year. Forecasted earnings and PE ratio for the current fiscal year are in determining potential gains. Possible gains for each stock are ranked in descending order, with the highest-ranked being the most attractive. Expected values will change as stock prices fluctuate and will result in movements of the selection in and out of the lists for most weeks. Earnings per share are revised on an ongoing basis as new information is received that can result in changes in and out of the list.

Big surge for Junior Market

The Junior Market Index surged 69.58 points to close at 3,381.05, after 32 securities traded and ending with the prices of 20 stocks gaining, nine declining and three remaining unchanged, leaving the average PE of the market at 14.4.
Market activity, resulted in 3,410,056 shares, valued $8,477,900 changing hands, well down on the 75,841,257 units costing $156,402,048, from 32 securities trading on Tuesday.
Trading ended with an average of 106,564 shares at $264,934 for each stock traded, in contrast to 2,370,039 units for $4,887,564 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 532,595 shares at $1,310,956 compared to an average of 559,861 shares at $1,177,902 for each security traded. In contrast, November closed with an average of 120,579 shares at $506,880 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investors Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows five stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Access Financial gained $2.30 to end at $33.30 after exchanging 400 stock units, Blue Power fell 50 cents to settle at $5 with 3,500 shares changing hands, Caribbean Cream gained 2 cents to end at $4.30, trading 5,000 stock units. Caribbean Flavours gained $2.64 to end at $15.64, after exchanging 100 shares, Caribbean Producers gained 10 cents to end at $4.95 with 22,684 stock units crossing the exchange. Consolidated Bakeries rose 5 cents to settle at $1.75 with 200 shares changing hands, Derrimon Trading gained 6 cents to end at $2.61, while exchanging 95,351 shares, Dolphin Cove lost 1 cent to settle at $11.10 with 515 shares changing hands. Elite Diagnostic added 6 cents to settle at $4.99 with 6,052 shares changing hands, Everything Fresh gained 9 cents and ended at $1.19 in trading 607 stock units, Express Catering dropped $1 to end at $6.50, with an exchange of 41,870 stock units, Fontana gained 39 cents to end at $7.39, trading 125,259 shares. GWest Corporation closed 10 cents higher at 96 cents, with 3,846 stock units crossing the market, Honey Bun gained 10 cents to settle at $7.50 with 75,634 shares changing hands, iCreate ended trading with 3,370 shares, after declining 3 cents to end at 68 cents, Jamaican Teas transferred 10,460 shares and lost 10 cents to end at $6.20. Jetcon Corporation gained 20 cents to end at $1.80 while exchanging 9,500 shares, Knutsford Express climbed 95 cents to $10.25 with 950 shares Lasco Distributors gained 39 cents to close at $3.50 while trading 46,707 stock units. Lasco Financial rose 40 cents to end at $4.40, trading 10,600 stock units, Lasco Manufacturing rose 25 cents to settle at $5 with 41,544 shares changing hands, Limners and Bards lost 10 cents to end at $2.90 with 75,820 stock units crossing the exchange. Lumber Depot lost 8 cents to end at $1.75, transferring 1,704,385 stock units, MailPac traded 882,679 shares to settle at $2.08 changing hands after falling 22 cents, Main Event climbed 35 to settle at $6.50 with 9,000 shares changing hands. Medical Disposables lost 40 cents to end at $7 with 35,328 stock units trading, Paramount Trading gained 5 cents to end at $2.05, in transferring 13,706 shares and SSL Venture Capital rose 2 cents to end at $1.13 with 121,562 stock units changing hands.

Big jump for Junior Market trading

MailPac drops 24 to close at $1.98.traded 71 million shares to dominate Junior Market trading.

MailPac traded 71,133,534 shares, accounting for $141,918,929 and pushed trading in the Junior Market to 75,841,257 for $156,402,048 at the close of trading on Tuesday as 32 securities changed hands.
Tuesday’s trading was 931 percent higher in volume than the exchange of 7,356,027 units carrying a value 333 percent higher than the $36,156,183, from 33 securities changing hands on Monday.
The Junior Market Index rose 38.27 points to end at 3,311.64 points on Tuesday, after the prices of 11 stocks rose 12 declined and 9 remained unchanged, leaving the average PE at 14.3.
Trading ended with an average of 2,370,039 units for $4,887,564 for each stock traded, in contrast to 216,354 units for a $1,063,417 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 559,861 shares at $1,177,902 compared to an average of 436,088 shares at $1,137,925 for each security traded. In contrast, November closed with an average of 120,579 shares at $506,880 for each security traded.

At the close of the market, Access Financial lost $1 in trading 3,134 shares to close at $31, AMG Packaging added 2 cents to close at $2.10 with a mere 100 units changing hands, Blue Power exchanged 222 stock units, after losing 8 cents to end at $5.50. Caribbean Cream traded 321,508 shares and gained 18 cents to close at $4.28, Caribbean Producers added 3 cents to finish at $4.85 while exchanging 500 stock units, Consolidated Bakeries exchanged 550,260 shares after gaining 18 cents to end at $1.70, Elite Diagnostic traded 340,500 units and slipped 12 cents to end at $4.93. Express Catering jumped $1.40 in exchanging 40,200 shares to close at $7.50, Fontana rose 60 cents to close at $7 with 337,160 crossing the exchange. FosRich added 25 cents to settle at $4.25 while trading 49,039 stock units, GWest fell 20 cents to close at 86 cents with 205,100 stock units changing hands, iCreate gained 1 cent to end at 71 cents in trading 109,000 shares. Jetcon Corporation lost 20 cents while trading 300,821 units at $1.60. Key Insurance lost 10 cents with 1,000 units changing hands at $3.20, Knutsford Express exchanged 33,258 shares and declined 30 cents to end at $9.30, Lasco Distributors dropped 38 cents with 275,192 shares crossing the exchange to close at $3.101, Lasco Financial traded 20,660 stock units and gained 45 cents in closing at $3.90. Limners & Bards lost 5 cents in exchanging 113,993 stock units at $3, Lumber Depot lost 7 cents to close at $1.83 with 1,720,435 units crossing the exchange, MailPac rose 10 cents to settle at $2.30 while exchanging 71 million shares.
