Trini stocks hit by falling oil price

Fallen oil price will severely affect foreign currency inflows into Trinidad and Tobago and negatively impact economic growth is taking a toll on stocks listed on the country’s stock exchange.

TTSE peaked earlier this year and has started the decent in March.

At the close of trading on Friday, the T&T Composite Index declined by 19.77 points to 1,409.69. The All T&T Index fell 5.49 points to end at 1,836.68, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 4.67 points at 133.03.
The market closed with fourteen securities trading with just one rising and five stocks declining, while eight remained unchanged and Clico Investment closed at a 52 weeks’ low. The volume of stocks passing through the market climbed to 658,697 shares valued at $21,898,549 compared to 402,595 shares for $13,725,015 on Thursday.
IC bid-offer Indicator The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of one stock higher than their last selling prices and nine with lower offers.
Gainers│ Ansa Merchant Bank was the sole stock advancing with gains of 5 cent trading 500 stock units to close at $36.35.
Losers│ Clico Investments lost 5 cents exchanging 11,819 units to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $22.50, JMMB Group closed at $2, after falling 2 cents with 223,925 units crossing the market, NCB Financial shed 65 cents in trading 25,310 stock units to finish at $10. Republic Financial declined by $1.43 to $144 with a transfer of 10,596 units and West Indian Tobacco fell by 25 cents to end at $36.50 trading 165 stock units.
Firm Trades│ Agostini’s exchanged 85 units at $25.50, Ansa McAL transferred 18,148 stock units at $55.32 and First Citizens Bank traded 147,538 shares at $45, Massy Holdings closed at $59, with 185,187 shares crossing the market. Scotiabank had 7,424 stock units crossing the market at $59.50, Trinidad & Tobago NGL ended at $15, in transferring 23,403 shares after trading at a 52 weeks’ intraday low of $14. Trinidad Cement exchanged 4,000 stock units at $1.95 and Unilever Caribbean traded 597 units at $19.

Falling stocks dominate TTSE trading

It was another day of falling prices on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday as the number of companies trading climbed to 21 from 17 on Monday. The market closed with no stock rising, seventeen declining while four remained unchanged, which is similar to trading on from last Wednesday when no more than two securities gained.
Four stocks closed at 52 weeks’ low as the market encountered five consecutive days of losses at the close market sentiments and closed with negative with stocks closing with a four to one bias towards declines as shown by the IC bid-offer Indicator.
The T&T Composite Index declined by 9.76 points to 1,460.77. The All T&T Index fell 5.31 points to end at 1,882.88, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 1.94 points at 140.67.
The volume of stocks passing through the market rose to 886,239 shares valued $18,028,177 compared to 553,555 shares valued $11,598,176 on Monday.

First Caribbean International shed 4 cents trading 1,293 to end at $7.85, Grace Kennedy lost 5 cents exchanging 1,860 stock units to end at $3.30, Guardian Holdings transferred 945 units at $21.60, after slipping 35 cents. JMMB Group shed 8 cents exchanging 170,055 shares to close at $2.02, Massy Holdings declined by $1 to $59 in transferring 15,490 units and National Enterprises traded 27,269 stock units after falling 15 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.40. National Flour closed at $1.30 in exchanging 111,161 units and lost 15 cents, One Caribbean Media lost 10 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $7.15, with 200 units crossing the market, Point Lisas shed 30 cents exchanging 200 units to end at $3.45. Prestige Holdings declined by 50 cents to $8.50 trading 3,585 shares, Republic Financial Holdings lost 4 cents and closed at $145.43, transferring 18,703 units and Scotiabank fell 7 cents to $62.45, in exchanging 150 stock units. Trinidad & Tobago NGL shed 31 cents trading 16,736 shares and closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $16.19 and Unilever Caribbean dropped to a 52 weeks’ low of $19.10, after falling $1.40 with 3,300 units crossing the market.
Firm Trades| Agostini’s exchanged 1,342 stock units at $25.55, Ansa McAL traded 1,000 shares at $55.32, NCB Financial ended at $11, with 285,949 units changing hands and West Indian Tobacco transferred 1,000 shares at $37.

TTSE continues to fall

TTSE stocks mostly declined when trading resumed on Monday after the market suffered from three days of losses towards the end of last week, at the close market sentiments were negative with stocks closing with a three to one bias towards declines.
The market closed with just two stocks rising, eight declining while four remained unchanged, which similar to trading on from last Wednesday when no more than two securities gained. The T&T Composite Index declined by 13.49 points to 1,470.53. The All T&T Index fell 10.70 points to end at 1,888.19, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 2.22 points at 142.61.
The volume of stocks passing through the market rose to 553,555 units, with a value of $11,598,176 compared to 347,621 shares for $8,785,947 on Friday.

Losers| Ansa McAL fell 18 cents, transferring 750 units to end at $55.32, Clico Investment shed 47 cents trading 1,675 units and closed at $27.90, Grace Kennedy slid 40 cents exchanging 102,000 stock units to end at $3.35. Massy Holdings dived $1.60 to $60 in transferring 511 shares, National Enterprises traded 3,000 stock units and slipped 5 cents to close at $5.55, National Flour closed at $1.45 in exchange of 288 units and lost 2 cents. NCB Financial shed 35 cents trading 58,043 shares to end at $11, Republic Financial Holdings lost 3 cents and closed at $145.47, transferring 21,224 units and West Indian Tobacco fell $1 to $37, with 3,201 shares changing hands.
Firm Trades| First Citizens Bank exchanged 133,869 stock units at $47.01, Prestige Holdings traded 1,754 shares at $9, Scotiabank ended at $62.52, with 1,531 units changing hands and Trinidad & Tobago NGL with 26,203 shares crossing the exchange at $16.50.

Declining stocks clobbered advancers by a wide margin again on Thursday as nearly five stocks fell for every one that rose and pushing all three leading market indices lower, with 488,591 units valued $11,813,231 traded versus 543,204 shares for $18,439,225 on Wednesday.

At the close, the T&T Composite Index declined by 4.32 points to 1,485.99. The All T&T Index fell 4.58 points to end at 1,901.62, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 0.55 points at 144.99.
The market closed with two stock rising, nine declining while seven remained unchanged as 18 securities changed hands up from 17 on Wednesday.

Big drop for TTSE – Wednesday

Declining stocks clobbered advancers by a wide margin with just one stock advancing leading the market indices to dive sharply as the market closed on Wednesday as some companies lost between 30 cents and 61 cents to have a big impact on the market value.
The T&T Composite Index declined by 8.87 points to 1,490.31. The All T&T Index dropped 14.11 points to end at 1,906.20, while the Cross Listed Index dipped 0.48 points at 145.547.
The market closed with one stock rising, eight declining while eight remained unchanged as the number of securities changing hands remained constant over the past three days, at 17 from 18 on Tuesday. The volume of stocks passing through the market rose to 543,204 shares valued $18,439,225 from 459,693 shares for $11,936,076 on Tuesday.

TTSE stocks moved modestly – Tuesday  

Prices on the Trinidad Stock Exchange moved mostly modestly but sharper declines of 67 cents in First Citizens Bank helped to moderate the movement of the market indices on Tuesday.
The T&T Composite Index lost 2.68 points to close at 1,499.18. The All T&T Index advanced 1.51 points to end at 1,920.31, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 0.94 points at 146.02.
The market closed with 15 securities changing hands leading to three stocks rising, four declining while seven remained unchanged. The volume of stocks passing through the market fell to 459,693 shares valued $11,936,076 compared to 1,548,495 shares for $28,291,848 from 18 securities on Monday.

T&TSE stocks fall – Friday

Trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange ended on Friday with more stocks falling than rising and leaving the market indices with losses for a second day after Republic Holdings and Guardian Holdings traded at 52 weeks’ highs.
The T&T Composite Index slipped 2.16 points to 1,501.13. The All T&T Index shed 3.49 points to end at 1,915.36, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 0.11 points at 147.23.
The market closed with five stocks rising, six declining while five remained unchanged as the number of securities changing hands remained constant over the past three days, at 16. The volume of stocks passing through the market fell to 383,853 shares valued $7,140,746, compared to 638,454 shares for $7,493,916 on Thursday.

Trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday closed with more stocks falling than rising, leaving the market indices with losses.  
The T&T Composite Index slipped 6.72 points to close at 1,503.29. The All T&T Index shed 9.37 points to end at 1,918.85, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 0.55 points to end at 147.34.
The market ended with just three stocks rising, six declining while seven remained unchanged.
Trading resulted in 16 securities changing hands with an exchange of 638,454 shares valued $7,493,916, compared to 318,961 shares valued $14,710,897, with 16 securities trading on Wednesday.

Steady T&TSE trading – Wednesday

Trading was steady on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with an almost equal number of stocks rising and falling, leaving the market indices with modest changes.  
The T&T Composite Index slipped 0.13 points to close at 1,510.01. The All T&T Index added 1.72 points to end at 1,928.22, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a decline of 0.27 points to end at 147.48.
The market ended with three stocks gaining, four declining while nine remained unchanged.
Trading resulted in 16 securities changing hands with an exchange of 318,961 shares valued $14,710,897, compared to 484,954 shares for $9,602,347, with 17 securities trading on Tuesday.

No stock gained in trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, as bears took hold of the market for the day driving down prices of seven stocks and held prices of 10 unchanged.  
The T&T Composite Index slipped 3.32 points to close at 1,510.14. The All T&T Index dropped 9.81 points to end at 1,926.50, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a rise of 0.44 points to end at 148.16.
The market ended with no stock gaining, seven declining while ten remained unchanged.
Trading resulted in 17 securities changing hands with an exchange of 484,954 shares valued $9,602,347, compared to 675,573 shares valued $8,580,075, with 18 securities trading on Monday.
