NCB at new high as 10 stocks rise

NCB Nkgn -2014In Thursday’s activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, National Commercial Bank jumped to a new 52 weeks’ high of $19.99 at the close of trading, as interest continues to build in Jamaican stocks. At the close, the prices of 10 stocks rose and 6 declined, the fifth consecutive day that the number of declining stocks, were not leading. Overall 27 securities changed hands, ending in 3,023,823 units trading, valued at $21,907,847, in all market segments.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows 9 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 2 stocks with offers that were lower.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained 234.58 points to 77,036.20, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 262.28 points to close at 84,848.36 and the JSE combined index gained 232.26 declined by points to close at 78,991.22.
Gains| Stocks gaining with last traded prices, at the end of trading in the main market are, Carreras with 4,700 shares, gains 1 cent, to end at $37.01. Gleaner closed with 9,000 units changing hands and put on 5 cents at 90 cents, Mayberry Investments closed 10 cents higher in trading with 46,200 shares at $2, National Commercial Bank finished trading with 497,424 units changing hands to close 99 cents higher at $19.99, Sagicor Real Estate Fund finished trading with 63,368 shares with the price rising 3 cents to $7.05 and Supreme Ventures traded 7,000 units with the price rising 1 cent to $1.77.
Firm| The stocks in the main market to close without a change in the last traded prices are, Caribbean Cement closing with 211,147 units trading at $2.50, Desnoes & Geddes finished with 10,000 shares trading at $4.90, Grace Kennedy ended with 9,100 units trading at $61.50. Jamaica Producers in trading 242 shares closed at $17.50, Kingston Wharves closed with 24,500 units changing hands at $6. Pan Jamaican Investment ended with 2,000 shares changing hands at $56, Proven Investments closed with 255,631 shares trading at 20.5US cents. Radio Jamaica finished with 6,645 units trading to end at $1.30, Scotia Group ended with 29,528 units trading at $20.50 and Scotia Investments closed trading with 1,000 units at $23.
JSE 8-1-15f Declines| The last traded prices of stocks with losses at the end of trading in the main market are, Cable & Wireless ending with 83,941 units trading, the price slipped 2 cents to 46 cents. Jamaica Broilers finishing with 17,948 units as the price slipped 5 cents to $4.05, Jamaica Money Market Brokers finished with 68,640 ordinary shares trading lower by 60 cents, to $6.51. Sagicor Group ended with 12,100 shares trading lower by 12 cents to $9.91 and Seprod closing with 13,574 units trading as the price slipped 70 cents to $13.
Preference| Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share closed with 591,969 units changing hands at $2.
