TTSE stocks fairly steady – Wednesday

Price changes at the close of trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange were small leading to modest movement in the market indices on Wednesday.  
At the close, the Composite Index inched 0.77 points higher to 1,404.78, the All T&T Index shed 0.01 points to 1,747.22, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.21 points to close at 144.03 as 270,524 shares traded amounting to $12,714,020, compared to 459,866 shares at $6,026,691 on Tuesday.
Trading ended with 14 securities trading against 16 on Tuesday, with 2 advancing, 5 declining and 7 remaining unchanged.
IC bid-offer Indicator|The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with 3 stocks closing with bids higher than the last selling prices and none with lower offers.
Gains| JMMB Group gained 5 cents and settled at $2.15, after exchanging 6,525 shares and Sagicor Financial rose 1 cent and ended at $10.21, with 5,659 stock units changing hands.
Losses| Clico Investment Fund fell 10 cents and completed trading at $24, with 2,968 units, First Citizens Bank closed with a loss of 5 cents at $40.10, swapping of 3,430 shares, Massy Holdings ended with a loss of 1 cent at $54.50, with 222,065 stock units trading. National Enterprises shed 14 cents and settled at $5.76, with 2,848 units crossing the exchange and West Indian Tobacco dipped 58 cents and completed trading of 42 units at $104.32.
Firm Trades| Ansa Merchant Bank ended at $35.75, swapping of 90 shares, Guardian Holdings settled at $18.16, with 785 units changing hands, National Flour concluded at $1.57, with 1,413 units, NCB Financial ended at $10.55, with 9,829 units crossing the exchange. Point Lisas concluded at $3.60, swapping of 9,155 shares, Republic Financial completed trading at $121.85, after exchanging 65 shares and Trinidad & Tobago NGL exchanging 5,650 units to close at $25.50.

JSE main market starts October positively

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed higher on the first trading day of October following the big gains of more than 4,700 points on Monday to close out September.
At the close on Tuesday, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 2,563.88 points to close at 569,634.41; the JSE Index gained 2.289.23 points to 518,332.14 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.22 points to close at 142.78.
At the close of trading, 41 securities changed hands in the main and US dollar markets with 16 advancing, 17 declining and 8 traded firm. Main market activity ended with 79,108,777 units valued at $151,516,121 in contrast to 198,831,547 units valued at $1,248,840,350 on Monday
Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 60.6 million shares for 77 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Funds with 8.9 million units accounting for 11 percent of the day’s trade and newly listed, QWI Investments with 7.5 million shares for 9 percent of the market’s trade.
The Market closed with an average of 2,081,810 units valued $3,987,266 for each security traded, in contrast to 5,373,826 units for an average of $33,752,442 on Monday. The market closed out September with an average of 1,585,081 units valued at $14,071,562 for each security traded.

In main market activity, Barita dived $4.51 to settle at $81.99 with 25,110 units traded, Berger gained $2, after exchanging just 2,000 shares to close at $20, Carib Cement lost $3.19 to end at $76.81 with 5,300 shares changing hands, Eppley Caribbean Property dropped $3 to end at $35 trading 1,200 shares. Jamaica Broilers closed 51 cents higher to settle at $37 after trading 500,567 shares, Jamaica Producers climbed by 85 cents, in settling at $25.90 with a mere 1,350 shares traded. Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 90 cents exchanging 3,000 units to end at $27.50, Kingston Wharves closed $2 higher to $57 with 24,994 shares changing hands. Mayberry Jamaican Equities closed at $12, after losing 50 cents trading 1,708 shares, NCB Financial climbed $3.89 to settle at $210 with 75,654 units traded, PanJam Investment rose $1 to end at $105 after exchanging 13,466 shares. Portland JSX lost 50 cents, in closing at $8 with 5,000 units changing hands, Sagicor Group dropped $3 to settle at $70 in trading 38,663 shares, Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost 50 cents in trading 5,750 units at $11, Salada Foods closed 35 cents higher at $32, exchanging 15,000 shares. Scotia Group lost $1.40 to end at $61 with 30,034 shares changing hands, Seprod ended the day’s trade $1 higher to settle at $56 in trading 22,594 shares and Wisynco gained 49 cents to end at $23.99, after trading 86,977 shares. In the Preference segment, Eppley 7.5% lost 50 cents in trading 58,400 shares at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 115,593 units valued at over US$13,607 with the market index gaining 0.18 points to close at 199.04. Proven Investments exchanged 18,535 shares at 27 US cents, Sterling Investments traded 48,723 units at 3 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments traded 48,785 shares, falling by a cent to close at 14 US cents.

Junior Market starts October down

The trend of a large number of stocks rising at the end of one month, followed by falling prices at the start of the next, was evident at the end of September and October on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
Market activities closed on Tuesday with 30 securities changing hands, resulting in the prices of 7 securities advanced, 16 declined and 6 remained unchanged in contrast to 26 trading with 10 rising and 7 falling. At the close, the Junior Market Index declined 16.96 points to 3,516.31.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 2,138,664 units valued at $11,183,538 down sharply from 6,210,149 units valued at $22,471,302 trading on Monday.
Trading ended with an average of 71,289 units for an average of $372,785 in contrast to 238,852 units for an average of $864,281 on Monday. In contrast, September closed with an average of 954,574 units valued at $2,612,695 for each security traded.

Caribbean Producers declined 9 cents trading 70,481 units to end at $4.51, Consolidated Bakeries dipped 12 cents in exchanging 6,167 units at $1.75, Dolphin Cove dropped $1.75 in moving 420,763 units through the market at a 52 weeks’ low of $10. Derrimon Trading ended with 604,122 shares changing hands, after rising 1 cent to end at $2.36, Express Catering dipped 50 cents in trading of 19,912 units at $6, Everything Fresh lost 6 cents in swapping 20,000 shares to close at $1.25, Elite Diagnostic closed 8 cents higher at $5.40, with 57,236 stock units crossing the exchange. Fosrich shed 5 cents in trading of 5,050 units at $5.05, Fontana ended with 62,501 shares changing hands after rising 15 cents to end at $8.45, General Accident gained 1 to end at $6.91, trading 17,272 shares, GWest Corporation fell 9 cents in exchanging of 34,594 units at $1.01. Honey Bun ended with a loss of $1 at $6 with 73,900 stock units changing hands, iCreate ended trading with 10,000 shares, after rising 2 cents to end at 72 cents, Indies Pharma ended with 79,613 shares crossing the exchange, after rising 2 cents to end at $3.32. Jetcon Corporation closed 20 cents higher at $2.20, with 83,296 stock units trading, Lasco Distributors dipped 30 cents in trading of 23,246 units at $3.55. Lasco Manufacturing closed with a loss of 10 cents at $5.40, in swapping of 20,753 shares, Limners and Bards lost 22 cents in exchanging of 201,729 units at $2.75 and Stationery and Office Supplies dropped by 81 cents to settle at $11.59. In the junior market preference segment, Paramount Trading close with a loss of 15 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $2.05 after swapping of 500 shares.

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange closed the first day of October on a positive note with 16 securities trading against 17 on Monday, resulting in 8 gaining, 1 declining and 7 remaining unchanged.
At the close of the market, the Composite Index rose 3.26 points to end at 1,404.01. The All T&T Index gained 1.05 points to 1,7447.23 while the Cross Listed Index rose 0.76 points to close at 143.82.
Trading ended with 459,866 shares at $6,026,691, compared to 360,171 shares at $7,710,531 on Monday.
IC bid-offer Indicator|The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with 2 stocks closing with bids higher than the last selling prices and just one with a lower offer.
Gains| Calypso Micro Index Fund traded 200 shares and rose 25 cents to end at $15.75, CinemaOne jumped 70 cents and ended at $8, with 250 stock units changing hands, Guardian Holdings added 1 cent and settled at $18.16, with 4,016 stock units trading. Massy Holdings rose 1 cent and settled at $54.51 after exchanging 49,050 shares, NCB Financial gained 5 cents and ended at $10.55, with investors exchanging 3,790 shares. Sagicor Financial closed with an increase of 5 cents to settle at $10.20, after trading 22,363 shares, Trinidad Cement rose 4 cents and settled at $2.04, with 4,000 units crossing the exchange and Trinidad & Tobago NGL recovered 50 cents exchanging 6,900 units to close at $25.50.
Losses| First Citizens Bank dropped 1 cent and ended at $40.15, with 11,150 stock units trading.
Firm Trades | Clico Investment Fund ended at $24.10, after swapping of 48,645 shares, JMMB Group settled at $2.10, with 286,905 units crossing the exchange, National Flour settled at $1.57, after swapping of 1,360 shares. One Caribbean Media completed trading of 17,600 units at $10, Republic Financial ended at $121.85, with 3,133 units trading, Scotiabank closed at $58.52, with 734 stock units changing hands and Unilever Caribbean ended at $25, with 20 units trading.
