Trading jumps on TTSE

Market activity ended on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded rising above Thursday by 77 percent, with 136 percent greater value, resulting in 16 securities trading, compared to 22 on Thursday, with prices of six stocks rising, six declining and four remaining unchanged.
A total of 799,836 shares were traded for $5,621,792 versus 452,813 units at $2,383,509 on Thursday. An average of 49,990 units were exchanged at $351,362 compared to 20,582 shares at $108,341 on Thursday, with trading month to date averaging 32,964 units at $210,695. The average trade for August amounts to 40,829 at $378,385.
The Composite Index shed 9.19 points to 1,364.60, the All T&T Index fell 2.42 points to 2,030.61 and the Cross-Listed Index dipped 2.30 points to settle at 91.25.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows five stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
At the close, Angostura Holdings ended at $26.50, with 15 shares crossing the market, Clico Investment Fund fell 50 cents in closing at $30 while exchanging 161 stock units, First Citizens Group popped $1 to end at $51 in an exchange of 845 stocks. FirstCaribbean International Bank shed 49 cents to close at $5.01, with 320,000 units changing hands, Guardian Holdings dipped 24 cents ending at $25.56 as investors exchanged 2,425 stocks, JMMB Group gained 1 cent in closing at $2.31 after trading 94,349 stock units. Massy Holdings remained at $4.74 with an exchange of 116,951 units, National Enterprises rallied 10 cents to $3.69 after 215,240 shares crossed the market, National Flour Mills declined 5 cents to $1.55 in exchanging 7,282 stocks. Prestige Holdings lost 3 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.80 with investors transferring 550 units, Republic Financial Holdings rose 40 cents to $140.40 after exchanging 6,523 stock units, Scotiabank advanced 20 cents to close at $78 in exchanging 12,597 shares. Trinidad & Tobago NGL climbed 2 cents to close at $22.01, with the transfer of 11,442 stock units, Trinidad Cement ended unchanged at $3.50 with the swapping of 1,313 shares, Unilever Caribbean dropped 25 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $12.25 with an exchange of 3,812 stocks and West Indian Tobacco remained at $23.40 in switching ownership of 6,331 units.
