Trading climbs on the Junior Market

Trading activity jumped on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with a 64 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded, resulting from a 115 percent surge in value compared with Thursday following trading in 46 securities up from 46 on Thursday and ending with prices of 28 rising, nine declining and nine closing unchanged.
The market closed with trading of 23,087,566 shares for $49,341,746 up from 14,041,506 stock units at $22,981,018 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 501,904 shares at $1,072,647 compared with 305,250 units at $499,587 on Thursday with the month to date, averaging 392,946 stocks at $709,005 compared with 387,043 shares at $689,302 on the previous day and with August that averaged 389,714 units at $570,529.
Fosrich led trading with 7.52 million shares for 32.6 percent of total volume followed by Derrimon Trading with 5.87 million stocks for 25.4 percent of the day’s trade, Jamaican Teas ended with 3.23 million units for 14 percent market share and RA Williams with 1.06 million shares for 4.6 percent of total volume.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index rose 31.75 points to end at 3,799.56.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 13, based on last traded prices in conjunction with earnings projected by ICInsider.com for financial years ending around August 2025.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows three stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
At the close, Blue Power rallied 19 cents in closing at $4.39 in switching ownership of 1,953 shares, Caribbean Assurance Brokers fell 9 cents to $3.40 with traders dealing in just one stock, Dolla Financial declined 10 cents to end at $3.20 after 576,230 shares passed through the market with the stock price hitting an intraday 52 weeks’ high of $3.50. Dolphin Cove sank 30 cents and ended at $22 after a transfer of 32,360 stock units, Express Catering rose 21 cents to finish at $3.45 with investors dealing in 35,881 shares, GWest Corporation climbed 7 cents to close at 95 cents with 26,025 stocks crossing the market. Honey Bun popped 11 cents to $8.35 with an exchange of 149,450 units, Iron Rock Insurance skidded 10 cents and ended at $3.90 with 1,151 stock units crossing the market, KLE Group advanced 15 cents to end at $1.17 after an exchange of 11 shares. Knutsford Express sank 78 cents in closing at $10.10 with 3,473 stock units changing hands, Lasco Financial gained 7 cents to finish at $1.72 after an exchange of 735 units, Limners and Bards increased 33 cents to close at $1.48 with investors swapping 200 stocks. Lumber Depot climbed 20 cents to $2.90 after an exchange of 95,741 units, Mailpac Group rose 10 cents to finish at $2.40 with a transfer of 553,753 stocks, Main Event rallied 48 cents and ended at $11.48 in trading 17,007 shares and Medical Disposables increased 11 cents to end at $1.91 in an exchange of a mere one stock unit.
