Trading climbs on Junior Market

Trading activity picked up on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with a 174 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded, after 157 percent more funds were exchanged in the process compared to Wednesday with trading in 44 securities up from 42 on Wednesday and ending with prices of 16 rising, 22 declining and six closing unchanged leading the Market Index into an 11.17 points skid to end at 3,721.43, after trading in positive territory to within 10 minutes of the close.
The market closed with 7,896,564 shares being traded for $14,084,953 compared with 2,884,821 units at $5,479,458 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 179,467 shares at $320,113 compared with 68,686 units at $130,463 on Wednesday with the month to date, averaging 190,747 stocks at $439,827 compared with 192,354 shares at $456,874 on the previous day and September with an average of 419,421 stock units at $774,292.
Stationery and Office Supplies led trading with 5.09 million shares for 64.4 percent of total volume followed by RA Williams with 612,777 units for 7.8 percent of the day’s trade and Derrimon Trading with 402,798 stock units for 5.1 percent market share.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 12.1, based on last traded prices in conjunction with earnings projected by ICInsider.com for financial years ending around August 2025.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with positive sentiments with seven stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and only two with lower offers.
At the close, Access Financial dropped $2.70 to close at $18.30 after 19,607 stocks passed through the market, AMG Packaging increased 13 cents to $2.75 after an exchange of 2,197 shares, Blue Power lost 20 cents to end at $4.20 with investors trading 11,717 units. CAC 2000 skidded 48 cents in closing at $2.27 and closed with 62 stock units changing hands, Cargo Handlers popped $1.83 and ended at $11.98 with traders dealing in 150 shares, Dolphin Cove advanced 50 cents to finish at $21.50 as investors exchanged 6,213 units. Elite Diagnostic sank 18 cents to $2.44 in trading 38,320 stocks, Fontana dipped 10 cents in closing at $8 after an exchange of 15,246 stock units, GWest Corporation sank 8 cents to end at 90 cents with a transfer of 777 shares. Honey Bun rose 13 cents and ended at $8.34 trading 2,959 stock units, Iron Rock Insurance declined 50 cents to finish at $3.40 with investors dealing in 1,150 stocks, Jamaican Teas rallied 10 cents to close at $2.37 after a transfer of 3,343 units. Knutsford Express gained $1.56 to close at $11.61 with investors trading 799 stocks, Limners and Bards fell 24 cents to finish at $1.22 in an exchange of 41,555 units, Main Event shed 33 cents and ended at $11.02 with 98 shares crossing the market. MFS Capital Partners dropped 11 cents to end at 70 cents with investors swapping 2,451 stock units, Stationery and Office Supplies sank 7 cents in closing at $1.60 after 5,085,250 shares crossed the exchange and tTech climbed 18 cents to close at $1.76 with 595 stocks changing hands.
