Market activity ended on Tuesday with the volume of shares trading declining 72 percent and the value rising 11 percent higher than on Monday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, leading to rising stocks falling far below those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 1,561.61 points to settle at 430,438.71, the Main Index fell 1,265.05 points to 389,498.85 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.06 points to end at 95.59.
Trading ended with 48 securities compared to 50 on Monday, with 15 rising, 25 declining and eight ending unchanged.
A total of 12,862,366 shares changed hands for $120,320,373 versus 46,377,442 units at $108,050,479 on Monday. Community & Workers Credit Union led trading with 31.4 percent of total volume after transferring 4.04 million shares, followed by Carreras with 18.1 percent for 2.33 million units and Wigton Windfarm 17.8 percent, with 2.28 million units changing hands.

At the close, Berger Paints shed 69 cents to end at $12.51 with the swapping of 37,058 shares, Caribbean Cement declined $4.79 to $73.51 after exchanging 35,071 units, Caribbean Producers lost 33 cents to close at $10 in trading 159,941 stock units. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund advanced $3 to $43 with 5,072 stocks clearing the market, Guardian Holdings declined $4.05 to $516 with a transfer of 7,727 stock units, Jamaica Broilers fell $1.40 to $30 after 56,884 units crossed the exchange. Jamaica Producers shed 53 cents to close at $23.50 with 69,716 stocks changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange dipped 65 cents to $17.50 in switching ownership of 7,932 shares, Kingston Wharves lost 99 cents in closing at $43 with the swapping of 24,692 stock units. Mayberry Investments lost 50 cents to end at $8.50 with an exchange of 2,290 shares, Palace Amusement advanced $30 to $1,030 in switching ownership of two stocks, PanJam Investment rose 73 cents to $67.63 in an exchange of 458 units. Proven Investments lost 35 cents to close at $33.55 in trading 3,376 stocks, Scotia Group shed $1 in ending at $36 with 530,665 shares changing hands, Seprod declined $1.06 to $62 in an exchange of 63,146 stock units and Stanley Motta lost 45 cents in closing at $4.55 with a transfer of 41,085 shares.
