The JSE Market Index gained 562.77 points to 153,605.25 the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 628.93 points to end at 170,618.82 and the JSE combined index gained 43.88 points to close at 162,103.43.

At the end of the market activities, Cable & Wireless closed with a gain of 1 cent to $1.41 with 666,711 units, Caribbean Cement dropped $3.80 to more than erase the $3 rise on Wednesday to end at $19.20 with 145,972 shares trading. Carreras fell 1 cent to close at $64.99, while trading 402,191 units, Ciboney traded 109,574 units at 22 cents, Desnoes and Geddes jumped $7.12 with 60,280 shares changing hands to close at $29.99, Grace Kennedy closed with 12,897 shares trading at $83.50, well below the $97 equivalent, it traded at, in Trinidad on Thursday. Jamaica Broilers shed 5 cents after trading 188,789 units to close at $14.50, Jamaica Producers traded 489,450 shares but lost $2.72 to close at $30.28. Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 3,000 shares to end with a gain of $1 at $22, JMMB Group had 52,994 units changing hands but rose 21 cents in closing at $10.60, Margaritaville Turks had 199,000 shares trading at 13.1 US cents after slipping 0.90 cent, National Commercial Bank had 61,270 shares changing hands at $41 at the close. Pulse added 15 cents to close at $2.55 with 344,533 units changing hands, Sagicor Group gained 15 cents with 189,757 shares changing hands at $23.15, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 44,310 shares at $11. Scotia Group had only 16,079 shares changing hands to close at $30.50. Seprod fell $2.80 with 11,625 units changing hands at $19.20 and Supreme Ventures closed at $4.70 with 274,835 units changing hands after shedding 29 cents.
JSE suffered from uncertainty – Wednesday
The JSE Market Index suffered a fall of 191.17 points to 154,244.00 the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 213.64 points to end at 171,332.67 and the JSE combined index dropped 224.85 points to close at 162,989.36. The main market recovered from losses in the indices in the morning session with the all Jamaican Composite Index dropping more than 1,000 points.

At the end of the market activities, Cable and Wireless gained 5 cents as 9,498 units changed hands to close at $1.50, Caribbean Cement rose $1.56 on Wednesday to end at $22.06 with 123,032 shares trading, Carreras closed with a gain of 50 cents at $65, while trading 216,663 units. Gleaner Company gained 5 cents to close at $2 as 101,689 shares changed hands, Grace Kennedy ended with 3,541 shares trading to close at $83 after declining by $1, the stock traded in Trinidad at the equivalent of $94 on Wednesday. Jamaica Broilers rose 50 cents after trading 566,345 units to close at $14.50, Jamaica Producers ended with 1,323,480 shares changing hands at $30, the stock traded at an intraday high of $35.05, Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 524 shares to end at $23 as the price gained $2, JMMB Group had 290,907 units changing hands to close at $10.42. Kingston Wharves had 1,361 shares trading with a fall of 13 cents at $11.31, Mayberry Investments traded 12,224 shares to close with a gain of 57 cents at $5.08, National Commercial Bank had 85,093 shares changing hands but the price rose by 14 cents to close at $40.15. 138 Student Living traded 22,500 shares at $5.80, Pan Jamaican Investments gained 80 cents while trading 33,044 units at $95, Sagicor Group rose 48 cents with 697,261 shares changing hands at $23.50, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 26,820 shares but the price fell 20 cents to $11.30. Scotia Group had 57,321 shares changing hands to close with a loss of 1 cent at $30.99, Scotia Investments rose $1.37 with 110,000 units changing hands at $28. Supreme Ventures fell by 9 cents and closed at $5.90 with 26,034 units changing hands and JMMB Group 7.50% preference share traded 160,000 units at $1.20.
More retreat for JSE on Thursday
A total of 2,801,152 units valued at $40,035,868 changed hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 876,572 units changing hands, valued at $3,718,863.
The JSE Market Index dived 913.83 points to 157,322.61 the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 1,021.27 points to end at 174,773.18 and the JSE combined index dumped by 972.44 points to close at 168,580.74.

Jamaica Broilers fell 75 cents with 244,239 units to close at $13.75, Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with 210,710 shares trading but lost 5 cents to close at $21.95, JMMB Group dropped 25 cents in trading 38,315 units at $11. Kingston Wharves had 5,900 shares trading at $11.40, Mayberry Investments traded 16,800 units to close at $4.80 for a rise of 30 cents, National Commercial Bank traded 45,262 shares to close at $40.30 after declining by $1.20, while 138 Students Living traded 146,285 shares with a fall of 10 cents to end at $5.60. Proven Investments traded 32,164 shares at 20 US cents, Radio Jamaica traded 17,651 units but fell 5 cents to $4.60, Sagicor Group fell 82 cents with 15,459 shares changing hands at $22.11, Scotia Group had 177,068 shares changing hands to close with a gain of 99 cents to end at $33. Scotia Investments had 1,200 units changing hands at $27 after dropping $3. Seprod closed at $22, with 104,200 shares trading, Supreme Ventures fell 10 cents to close at $5.90 with 48,200 units changing hands, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 66,900 at $2.15 and Proven Investments preference share traded 502,476 units at $5.

Carreras gained of 70 cents to close at $65.70, to end at a 52 weeks’ high while trading 245,117 units, Desnoes & Geddes traded 76,000 shares but lost 2 cents to $22.85, Grace Kennedy ended with 3,269 share trading to close at $83, Jamaica Broilers had 72,174 shares trading with a rise of 50 cents to end at $14. Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with 3,000 shares trading but lost 50 cents to close at $22, JMMB Group dropped 75 cents in trading 94,905 units at $11.25, Kingston Wharves had 38,100 shares trading at $11.40, Mayberry Investments traded 26,020 units to close at $4.50. National Commercial Bank traded 183,199 shares to close at $40 after rising by $1.50, while 138 Students Living traded 354,615 shares with a rise of 20 cent to end at $5.70, Pan Jamaican Investment traded only 334 units with a rise of $1.45 to end at $96. Scotia Group had 173,359 shares changing hands to close with a fall of $1.99 to end at $32.01, Scotia Investments had 6,000 units changing hands at $30 after jumping $3.45. Seprod closed at $22, with 33,153 shares trading, Supreme Ventures rose 10 cents to close at $6 with 138,588 units changing hands and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 66,900 at $2.15.
JSE loses big in early trading
The Jamaica Stock Exchange got to a negative start with the indices all slipping after 75 minutes of trading with 13 stocks falling and only 6 rising as 35 securities have been active with only 933,812 units changing hands.
Big moves have been Carreras up 90 cents to $65, Grace Kennedy down $1 to $83 with limited volume, Jamaica Stock Exchange up $2.50 to $22.50 and Seprod with a rise of $2 to $22.
The all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 1,469.33 points to 179,042.71, the JSE Market Index lost 1,314.77 points to 161,143.02, the JSE combined index fell 1,351.04 points to 172,732.49 and the junior market index dropped 12.32 points to 2,301.46.
Market fell on Thursday
The JSE Market Index fell 608.92 points to 159,707.95 the all Jamaica Composite Index lost 680.50 points to end at 177,438.94 and the JSE combined index declined 667.38 points to close at 171,240.16.

At the end of the market activities, Barita Investments ended with 5,478 units traded for 3 cents lower to close at $4.75, Berger Paints rose 58 cents to end at $5.08 at 52 weeks’ high, with 100,764 units traded. Cable and Wireless dropped 14 cents to close at $1.40 with 803,782 units trading. The company reported a profit of $144 million in the December quarter after accounting for an exceptional charge of $334 million and for the nine months losses were down sharply from $1.8 billion to $644 million after an exceptional charge of $504 million. Caribbean Cement fell 1 cent to close at $27.99 with 35,992 shares changing hands. Gleaner Company traded 1,998,200 shares to close at $2.40, Grace Kennedy closed at $84 with 1,500 units changing hands. Jamaica Broilers Group traded 45,584 units but dropped $1 to $13.50, JMMB Group traded 6,875,563 units but fell 15 cents to end at $11.75. Kingston Wharves rose 19 cents with 13,848 units changing hands at $11.19, Margaritaville Turks had 180,290 shares trading at 14 US cents, National Commercial Bank traded 114,437 shares and fell 50 cents to close at $41.50. Pulse Investments traded 230,500 shares to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $4.20 after rising by 10 cents after it traded earlier in the day at $4.80, Sagicor Group closed at $23 with 164,051 units changing hands. Sagicor Real Estate Fund fell 20 cents to close at $11.80 while trading 65,892 shares, after it traded at an intraday high of $12.05. Scotia Group had 157,488 shares changing hands to close at $34, Scotia Investments had 36,067 units changing hands at $29, Seprod added 100 units and jumped $1 in ending at $22. Supreme Ventures lost 10 cents to close at $6.20, with 85,982 units changing hands, but traded earlier, at an intraday high of $7 and JMMB 7.50% preference share traded 603,733 units with a gain of 3 cents to close at $2.15.
