Investors pushed the Jamaica stock market down sharply on Tuesday as stock prices were widely down on the Jamaica Stock Exchange with 22 securities declined as 43 changed hands in all market segments. Trading resulted in the prices of 9 securities gaining while four stocks closed at 52 weeks’ high and 3 at an intraday high.
A total of 4,504,769 units valued at $138,949,178 changed hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 1,008,928 units, valued at $4,603,766.
The JSE Market Index dived 3,286.73 points to 159,171.06 the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 3,673.11 points to end at 176,838.93 and the JSE combined index dipped by 3,413.10 points to close at 170,670.43.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading was 10 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 4 with lower offers.
JSE Sum 16-02-16At the end of the market activities, Berger Paints fell 18 cents to end at $4.80, with 50,576 units traded, Cable and Wireless lost 9 cents with 268,452 units changing hands at $1.60, Caribbean Cement fell 90 cents to close at $26.60 with 18,305 shares changing hands. Carreras traded as high as $65.70, but closed with a gain of 90 cents, to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $65 while trading 625,721 units, Grace Kennedy ended with 562,543 share trading with a loss of $1 to close at $83, Jamaica Broilers had 17,581 shares trading with a loss of 95 cents at $14. Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 3,403 shares with a rise of $2.50 to close at a 52 weeks’ high $22.50, JMMB Group dropped $1 in trading 76,393 units at $12, Kingston Wharves had 21,850 shares trading at $11.40, Mayberry Investments fell 40 cents to close at $4.50 with 41,436 units traded, JSE fn qts 16-02-16rafter trading at a 52 weeks’ intraday high of $5.08 National Commercial Bank traded 396,112 shares to close at $40 after falling by $2, Pan Jamaican Investment traded 49,943 units with a loss of $1.45 to end at $94.55, Scotia Group had 326,093 shares changing hands to close at $34, Scotia Investments had 261,404 units changing hands at $26.55 after dropping $3.25. Seprod rose $2 to close at $22, with 69,528 shares trading, Supreme Ventures declined by 55 cents to close at $5.90 with 240,000 units changing hands. Proven Investments ordinary share traded at 22 US cents with 41,720 units, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 296,000 at $2.15 and Proven Investments preference share traded 97,524 units to close at $5.
