Low trading on JSE Wednesday

JSE sum 15-4-15Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, resulted in the prices of 6 stocks rising, 8 declining as 19 securities changed hands, ending in 2,545,551 units trading, valued at $13,385,867, in all market segments.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained just 28.96 points to 84,837.26, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 32.38 points to close at 93,570.30 and the JSE combined index gained 40.13 points to close at 86,628.32.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator was flashing strong signals of rising prices ahead, with 15 stocks having bids higher than their last selling prices and only 2 with offers that were lower. In trading on the main market, Cable & Wireless traded 556,317 units at 50 cents to gain a cent at the close, JSE qts 15-4-15 Jamaica Producers had 508,889 shares changing hands to close at $16, after trading down at $15.96, at the close there was buying interest in 496,095 shares at $15.96. National Commercial Bank traded just 15,300 shares to close at $25.26 for a 24 cents decline, but there is 137,000 units on the bid to buy at $25.26, Sagicor Group had just 54,877 units changing hands at $10.40 and Scotia Group traded 16,788 at $21.95 to decline by 55 cents, with 192,864 units on the bid at $21.92. Radio Jamaica did not traded but ended with a bid to buy 200,000 at $1.50, with the lowest offer being 48,000 units at $2 and the next, 15,100 units at $3.

Moderate trading

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange has been very moderate after an hour of trading. Only 10 securities have traded so far with a total volume of 105,600 units.
JSE 15-4-15Knutsford Express fresh from reporting a 92 percent increase in pretax profits for the February quarter and 45 percent for the nine months gained 40 cents in trading to $5.60, having traded 87,603 shares. Scotia Group slipped 50 cents to $22 with a small volume and National Commercial Bank traded at $25.27 off by 23 cents.
The JSE main market indices are down by less than 20 pints so far while the junior market is up 1.06 points to 733.24.

Obama’s visit affected trading Thursday

On Thursday, with more than one and a half hours of opening, only two stocks traded on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, reflecting some of the business interruptions that attended the USA President’s short visit to the Jamaica. JSE sum 9-4-15
Trading picked up somewhat after but never got to a robust levels, resulting in the prices of 8 stocks rising, 4 declining as 20 securities changed hands, ending in 790,398 units trading, valued at $4,636,761, in all market segments.

Main Market| The JSE Market Index lost 262.35 points to 84,902.62, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 293.32 points to close at 93,643.37 and the JSE combined index dropped 231.14 points to close at 86,681.44 as trading closed with three stocks closing at 52 weeks’ high.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows 14 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 5 with offers that were lower.
National Commercial Bank traded up to $25.50 with a gain of 50 cents with 91,911 units changing hands, there were 673,941 shares on offer at $25.50 with buying for 32,402 units at $25.01. Jamaica Producers put on $1.50 to end at $18.50 but with just 2,000 shares trading.JSE Qtes chrt - 9-4-15 IC Insider Buy Rated RJR closed at a new 52 weeks’ high of $2 with 190,399 shares as the price puts on 50 cents and Supreme Ventures is also at a new 52 weeks high of $2.80, up 50 cents but with 30,000 shares trading. Sagicor X Fund was down by 40 cents to $6.50 as increased selling is overwhelming demand, trading accounted for 50,000 units but still left 1.4 million units on offer for sale at $6.90 with bids in to buy only 111,053 units at $6.50. Scotia Group traded 26,721 between $21.56 and $22.50, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 134,000 shares to gain 10 cents and closed at a 52 weeks’ high of $3.20.

Near 3 years’ high for JSE on Monday

The Jamaica Stock Market started off the week on a positive note, closing at a 34 months high at the end of trading, on Monday. The JSE Market Index gained 848.12 points to 84,246.09, JSE cl qte-30-3-15the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 948.24 points to close at 92,909.34 and the JSE combined index climbed 805.21 points at 85,837.84. Monday’s closing All Jamaica Composite Index, is at the highest, since early June 2012.
A 70 cents gain in Scotia Group to close at $22.20 was the main stock that influenced the move in the indices. Jamaica Money Market had earlier traded at $7.99 cents, up 75 cents and would have also positively impacted the indices. Although the indices of the main market moved up strongly, it came out of almost even advanced declined ratio. Only 624,118 units traded in the main and US dollar markets. On a day of low volumes, the leading trades were National Commercial Bank with 120,019 shares and Sagicor Group with 104,619 units.

Scotia pushes AJI to 92,901.30

The all Jamaica Composite index is up 940 points to 92,901.30 with just over an hour of trading on Monday. Scotia Group gained 70 cents to trade at $22.20 but with only 1,000 shares changing hands and with a mere 2,000 shares, Jamaica Money Market Brokers ended up 94 cents at $7.99. JSE 1033-30-3-15

National Commercial Bank trading 6,225 shares while gaining 49 cents to $24.99, Pan Jamaican Investment finishing with 6,650 units with a gain of 4 cents at $55.05, Scotia Group closing with 255,000 shares traded with a gain of 12 cents to $21 and Supreme Ventures trading in 103,487 shares to end with an increase of 30 cents to $2.30.

JSE closes with triple digit gains

The JSE was showing some bullish tendencies in Tuesday trading with 19 securities traded in the main market accounting for 7.22 million units with a value of $70.5 million. Jamaica Money Market Brokers was the other major traded with 1,362,305 shares between $7 and $7.25 with the last traded price being $7.26. JSE at 33 months high

The all Jamaica composite index closed above 92,000 points for the first time since as it gained 1,221.67 at the end of trading to end at 92,727.31 points the highest since June 7, 2012.JSE close cht 5-3-15
The stocks contributing to the upward move are mainly Carreras, National Commercial Bank, Pan Jamaican and Scotia Group. Investors should be watching the results for Scotia Group that is expected to be released today for clues as to what may happen to the market on Friday. Attractive gains in profit will encourage investors to buy the stock and that could move the price forward. NCB closed with only two offers of 103,000 units in total with the offer price moved to $30.

Scotia Group was quick out of the box, jumping to $22 and helping to move the All Jamaica Composite index up by 779.23, to more than 91,000 points.
