JSE Main Market rallies on trading bounce

Trading picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Monday, with a 263 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded following a 27 percent rise in the value over market activity on Friday, after 54 securities were traded compared with 50 on Friday, with 19 rising, 17 declining and 18 ending unchanged leading to a rise in the market indices at the close of trading.
A total of 14,060,598 shares were traded for $91,699,748 compared to 3,872,550 units at $72,059,401 on Friday.
Trading averaged 260,381 shares at $1,698,143 versus 77,451 shares at $1,441,188 on Friday and month to date, an average of 179,681 units at $1,531,791, compared with 174,613 units at $1,521,345 on the previous day and August with an average of 316,608 units at $1,867,646.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 5.17 million shares for 36.7 percent of total volume followed by QWI Investments with 2.79 million units for 19.9 percent of the day’s trade, Wigton Windfarm with 1.70 million units for 12.1 percent market share and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.24 million units for 8.8 percent of total volume.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 755.20 points to 344,391.47, the JSE Main Index rallied 3,527.99 points to end at 315,805.28 and the JSE Financial Index popped 0.47 points to close at 69.88.

At the close, Barita Investments fell 49 cents to end at $78.50, with 69,542 shares crossing the market, Caribbean Producers dropped 74 cents to close at $9.45 and closed with an exchange of 19,489 units, First Rock Real Estate rose $1.10 to $8.40 after 247 stocks ended changing hands, GraceKennedy popped $1.40 in closing at $73.40 in an exchange of 263,558 stock units. Jamaica Broilers gained 41 cents and ended at $31.44. with 13,396 stocks crossing the exchange, Jamaica Producers lost 50 cents and ended at $20, with 423,227 units changing hands, Key Insurance shed 34 cents to end at $2.21 after investors exchanged 35 shares, Kingston Properties increased 38 cents to close at $7.28 with trading in 495 stock units. Kingston Wharves climbed $1 in closing at $25 with shareholders swapping 3,064 shares, NCB Financial advanced 40 cents to end at $65.50 with investors transferring 103,724 stocks, Pan Jamaica rallied 75 cents in closing at $45.75, with 35,700 units clearing the market, Proven Investments skidded $4.20 to $20 after a transfer of 3,396 stock units. Sagicor Real Estate Fund gained 30 cents and ended at $8.30 in an exchange of 112 stock units, Scotia Group declined $2 to close at $32 with traders dealing in 265,169 stocks and Seprod dipped 39 cents to end at $69.40 after 2,428 units passed through the market.
In the preference segment, Eppley 7.50% preference share rallied 59 cents to end at $6.15 after an exchange of 1,284 shares, Jamaica Public Service 7% climbed $8.78 and ended at $53.07 after trading 197 units and 138 Student Living preference share lost $24.70 to close at $80.30, with 4,300 shares crossing the market.

Losing stocks edged winners on Main Market

More funds flowed into trading activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Friday, but it bought 41 percent fewer shares valued 79 percent more than on Thursday, after trading ended with 50 securities changing hands compared with 54 on Thursday, with 18 rising, 21 declining and 11 ending unchanged.
Overall, 3,872,550 shares were traded for $72,059,401 up from 6,606,269 units at $40,160,944 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 77,451 shares at $1,441,188 versus 122,338 shares at $743,721 on Thursday and month to date, an average of 174,613 units at $1,521,345, compared with 180,611 units at $1,526,293 on the previous day. August closed with an average of 316,608 units at $1,867,646.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 1.17 million shares for 30.2 percent of the volume, Transjamaican Highway followed with 620,445 units for 16 percent of the day’s trade and Barita Investments with 253,835 units for 6.6 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 1,768.93 points to end at 343,636.27, the JSE Main Index increased 876.64 points to 312,277.29 and the JSE Financial Index popped 0.17 points to close at 69.41.

Pan Jamaica sinks JSE Main market

Pan Jamaica dropped $4.65 in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Thursday, helping to push the market down even as heavily weighted Scotia Group climbed $1.30 following a 34 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded but the value fell by 54 percent from Wednesday’s levels, following trading in 54 securities up from 51 on Wednesday, with prices of 16 rising, 20 declining and 18 ending unchanged.
A total of 6,606,269 shares were traded at $40,160,944 compared to 4,914,260 units at $86,517,288 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 122,338 shares at $743,721 compared with 96,358 shares at $1,696,417 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 180,611 units at $1,526,293, down from 184,773 units at $1,582,191 on the previous day. August closed with an average of 316,608 units at $1,867,646.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 2.35 million shares for 35.5 percent of total volume followed by Transjamaican Highway with 1.39 million units for 21 percent of the day’s trade and JMMB Group 7.35% – 2028 with 1.23 million units for 18.6 percent of the day’s trade.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 541.98 points to finish at 345,405.20, the JSE Main Index dipped 445.30 points to 311,400.65 and the JSE Financial Index dropped 0.31 points to conclude trading at 69.24.

A total of 4,914,260 shares were traded for $86,517,288 up from 4,072,123 units at $39,480,185 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 96,358 shares for $1,696,417 compared with 81,442 units at $789,604 on Tuesday. Trading for the month to date, averaged 184,773 units at $1,582,191 compared to 191,169 units at $1,573,928 on the previous day and down on August with an average of 316,608 units at $1,867,646.

Trading activity dropped sharply on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday, with a 51 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded with a  51 percent lower the value than on Monday, with trading in 50 securities down from 55 on Monday, with 16 rising, 27 declining and seven ending unchanged.
A total of 4,072,123 shares were traded for $39,480,185 versus 8,294,756 units at $80,258,458 on Monday.
Trading averaged 81,442 shares at $789,604 in contrast with 150,814 units at $1,459,245 on Monday and month to date, an average of 191,169 units at $1,573,928, down from 199,546 units at $1,633,800 on the previous day. Trading in August closed with an average of 316,608 units at $1,867,646.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.67 million shares for 41 percent of total volume followed by Ciboney with 440,951 units for 10.8 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Windfarm with 416,225 units for 10.2 percent market share.

Solid big cap stocks rally lifts JSE Main Market

Scotia Group closed with a $4 rebounded on Monday followed by a $3.94 jump in Pan Jamaica as Caribbean Cement rallied $2.35 and Jamaica Producers rose a solid $2.29 on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market accompanied by a 52 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded and a 22 percent lower value than on Friday, after 55 securities changed hands up from 52 on Friday, with prices of 17 rising, 23 declining and 15 unchanged.
A total of 8,294,756 shares were traded for $80,258,458 versus 5,471,926 units at $103,330,084 on Friday.
Trading averaged 150,814 shares for $1,459,245 compared to 105,229 shares at $1,987,117 on Friday and month to date, an average of 199,546 units at $1,633,800 compared with 204,013 units at $1,649,801 on the previous trading day. August closed with an average of 316,608 units at $1,867,646.

Scotia big fall bites market

Scotia Group dropped $3.93 with more than 1.1 million shares changing hands and closed at a 52 weeks’ low on Friday, on a day when rising and falling stock prices were almost even at the end of trading activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, resulting in a drop in the market index, following a sharp fall in the volume of stocks traded as investors swapped 89 percent fewer shares with 68 percent less value than Thursday.
The market closed with trading in 52 securities, down from 53 on Thursday, and ended with 18 rising, 19 declining and 15 ending unchanged.
A total of 5,471,926 shares were traded at $103,330,08  versus 50,800,250 units at $320,174,232 on Thursday.

Kingston Wharves pushes up Main Market trading

Trading surged on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Thursday, with an 825 percent in the volume of stocks traded and a 904 percent jump in the value compared with market activity on Wednesday, following a big bounce in the volume and value of trading in Kingston Wharves shares and Key Insurance and ending with trading in 53 securities compared with 54 on Wednesday, and ended with prices of 22 rising, 18 declining and 13 ending unchanged.
A total of 50,800,250 shares changed hands at $320,174,232, up sharply from 5,494,640 units at $31,905,669 on Wednesday.

Guardian & Cement lead Main Market gainers

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended lower at the close on Wednesday, Guardian Holdings and Caribbean Cement were the two leading stocks rising at the close of trading, following a moderate trading session with a slightly higher volume of stocks trading with a 47 percent lower value than on Tuesday, but the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator flashed a positive signal of a higher open on Thursday.
Trading took place in 54 securities compared with 53 on Tuesday and ended, with prices of 20 rising, 16 declining and 18 left unchanged.
A mere 5,494,640 shares were traded for $31,905,669, down from 5,365,366 units at $60,054,838 on Tuesday.

Seprod lost 41 cents in closing at $69.49, with 5,713 shares crossing the exchange, Supreme Ventures rallied 30 cents and ended at $27.02 with investors dealing in 51,532 stocks and Victoria Mutual Investments rose 18 cents to close at $3.03 while exchanging 173,342 stock units.

Carib Cement drops $4.85

Barita Investments and Eppley Caribbean Property Fund gained over $1 but sharp declines in Caribbean Cement, down $4.85, Kingston Wharves falling $3.16, Jamaica Producers losing $1.35 and Pan Jamaica skidding $1 pressured the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday. Trading activity dropped sharply, with a 41 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded with 55 percent lower value than Monday, resulting from trading in 53 securities compared with 54 on Monday, with 18 rising, 20 declining and 15 ending unchanged.
A total of 5,365,366 shares were traded for $60,054,838 versus 9,156,436 units at $134,445,305 on Monday.
Trading averaged 101,233 shares at $1,133,110 versus 169,564 shares at $2,489,728 on Monday and month to date, an average of 137,507 units at $1,211,952 compared to 142,462 units at $1,222,721, the previous day. August closed with an average of 316,608 units at $1,867,646.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.57 million shares for 29.2 percent of total volume followed by Carreras with 1.40 million units for 26.2 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Windfarm with 469,969 units for 8.8 percent market share.

Kingston Wharves dropped $3.16 to close at $26.80 after a transfer of 5,313 shares, Pan Jamaica dipped $1 in closing at $45 in an exchange of 2,716 stock units, Sagicor Group skidded 50 cents in closing at $44.50, with 155,542 units changing hands, Scotia Group rallied 40 cents and ended at $33.90 after an exchange of 119,374 stocks after the group reported nine month’s profit up 74 percent, to $12.8 billion. Seprod increased 90 cents to end at $69.90 after 963 stocks passed through the market, Stanley Motta advanced 59 cents to $5.34 with investors dealing in 100 units and Sygnus Credit Investments increased 30 cents to close at $11.30, with 58,391 shares crossing the exchange.
