RJR traded at a new high on Friday.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange gained over 5 percent at the end of trading on Friday for the combined market, since the close on May 24, with the main market rising by 5.7 percent as measured by the all Jamaican Composite Index. In between, the main market recorded gains on each trading day, except for a mild fall on the last day of May, with trading ending on Friday with another strong rise in the indices.
A total of 33 securities changed hands on Friday, accounting for 5,276,551 units valued at $50,291,976, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 2,520,895 shares, valued at $12,191,278 of the overall trades.
The price of 16 stocks in the overall market rose, 5 declined, including 6 stocks rising and 4 declining, from the junior market as 4 stocks in all markets hit new highs, three of which ended at new 52 weeks’ high.
The JSE Market Index surged 1,069.13 points to end at 160,662.67. The all Jamaica Composite Index jumped 1,195.68 points to close at 178,511.33 and the JSE combined index climbed 1,153.53 points, to close at 171,248.13.

At the end of market activities, Cable & Wireless gained 2 cents in closing at $1.47 after trading 450,430 units, Caribbean Cement rose $1.20 in trading 8,800 shares and closed at $24.50, Carreras had 43,851 units trading, to close with a gain of 19 cents at $66. The price of 1834 Investments rose 2 cents, to $1.17 with 103,300 shares changing hands, Grace Kennedy traded 4,215 units, to close at $115, Jamaica Broilers ended with 3,300 units changing hands at $14, Jamaica Producers traded 2,505 shares and gained $1.99 to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $44. National Commercial Bank traded 15,130 shares, to close with a gain of 90 cents at $42. Pan Jamaican Investment Trust traded 24,973 shares and ended at $26.50, Radio Jamaica closed trading with 328,001 shares with the price rising 18 cents to a 52 weeks’ high of $2.10. Sagicor Group ended with 290,437 shares changing hands with a rise of 20 cents at $22.99, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 294,111 shares at $10, Scotia Group slipped 2 cents to close at $32.97 as 590,571 units changed hands, Seprod traded 33,377 units to end at $16.88. Supreme Ventures traded 419,994 units to close at $4.50 and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share, traded 136,380 units at $1.04.

JSE makes big jump on Thursday

Palace closed at a new high of $165 on Thursday.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market ended trading on Thursday with strong gains in the indices and with 3 stocks trading at a 52 weeks’ highs. A total of 40 securities changed hands, accounting for 59,895,323 units valued at $68,983,411, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 57,317,961 shares valued at $35,653,893 of the overall trades.
The price of 17 stocks in the overall market rose, 18 declined, including 7 stocks rising and 8 declining, from the junior market as 5 stocks in all markets hit new highs.
The JSE Market Index gained 2,178.07 points to end at 159,593.54. The all Jamaica Composite Index jumped 2,435.88 points to close at 177,315.65 and the JSE combined index climbed 2,015.84 points, to close at 170,094.60.

JSE stocks hit new highs again – Wednesday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market ended with Jamaica Producers trading at a 52 weeks’ high of $41.50 and Pan Jamaican Investment after splitting the stock into 5 units, traded at a new high of $26.99. A total of 37 securities changed hands, accounting for 7,727,250 units valued at $131,569,573, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 2,151,230 shares valued at $12,226,480 of the overall trades.
The price of 19 stocks in the overall market rose, 9 declined, including 7 stocks rising and only 3 declining, from the junior market as 2 stocks in the main market hit new highs.
The JSE Market Index gained 853.70 points to end at 157,415.47. The all Jamaica Composite Index rose 954.75 points to close at 174,879.77 and the JSE combined index climbed 943.05 points, to close at 168,078.76.

Pan Jamaican Investment Trust traded ex-split for the first time and jumped $2.75 to $26.99 at the close, with 3,787,537 units, the bulk of which were crosses, Radio Jamaica closed trading with 393,668 shares as the price rose 30 cents to $1.75, Sagicor Group ended with 48,484 shares changing hands with a loss of 30 cents at $22.50. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 175,863 shares at $10.12, Scotia Group fell 50 cents to close at $30.50, as 245,997 units changed hands. Scotia Investments rose 40 cents to close at $25.50, as 30,478 units changed hands, Seprod traded 235,333 units but fell 7 cents to end at $16.88, Sterling Investments had 173,979 shares trading at $11.50 and Supreme Ventures rose 30 cents in trading 3,900 units to close at $5.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market ended with Grace Kennedy ending trading at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $115 and also did Jamaica Producers. A total of 34 securities changed hands, accounting for 11,149,488 units valued at just $124,468,897, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 2,620,512 shares valued at $7,902,418 of the overall trades.
Investors pushed the price of 15 stocks in the overall market up, 13 down, including 5 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market. One stock in the junior closed at a 52 weeks’ high and two in the main market hit new 52 weeks’ highs at the close of trading.

Grace Kennedy closed at a new 1 year high

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market ended with Grace Kennedy trading at a 52 weeks intraday high of $120 but ended at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $111. The last time the stock traded so high, was March 2015, but the stock is still priced below the all-time high of $123, reached in February of that 2015.
A total of 32 securities changed hands, accounting for 3,191,366 units valued at just $23,420,615, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 829,940 shares valued at $2,963,453 of the overall trades.
Investors pushed the price of 13 stocks in the overall market up, 7 down, including 3 stocks rising and only 2 declining, from the junior market as two stocks in the main market hit new highs.

The junior market saw ISP Finance Services trading at a new all-time high at the close as well. The junior market saw Cargo Handlers trading at a new all-time high at the close. The junior market accounted for 2,139,183 shares valued at $12,635,596 of the total level traded.

Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 15,542 shares and ended at $10, Scotia Group rose 50 cents to close at $30.50, while 43,041 units changed hands, Seprod traded 14,202 shares with the price rising 15 cents to $16.90. Supreme Ventures closed at $5.15 with 112,186 shares changing hands, after losing 9 cents and Proven Investments preference share, traded 24,509 units at $5, with a loss of 2 cents.

JSE loses ground on Tuesday

Grace traded at a new 52 weeks’ high on the JSE Tuesday.

Trading volumes remained low on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday as the main market lost much ground in trading after closing for the Labour Day holiday on Monday. The market closed with 34 securities changing hands, accounting for just 2,901,288 units valued at $53,144,793, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 912,528 shares valued at $4,482,547 of the total level traded.
Investors pushed the price of 13 stocks in the overall market up, 13 down, including 4 stocks rising and 6 declining, from the junior market as two stocks in the main market hit new highs.
The JSE Market Index moved down by 1,629.32 points to end at 152,050.95. The all Jamaica Composite Index declined by 1,822.18 points to close at 168,891.44 and the JSE combined index dropped 1,945.68 points, to close at 162,532.10.

IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading showed 17 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 4 with lower offers.
At the end of market activities, Cable & Wireless closed at $1.28 after trading 14,655 units, Caribbean Cement traded 100,000 shares and fell $2 and close at $24, Carreras gained 69 cents with 69,370 units trading to close at $65.20. The price of 1834 Investments gained 2 cents to close at $1.01 with 89,139 units, Grace Kennedy traded 12,167 units to gain $1 and closed at $91. Jamaica Broilers closed with a rise of 39 cents to $14.60 while trading 2,600 shares, Jamaica Producers traded 98,860 shares at $34.99, after a loss of 1 cent, JMMB Group traded 156,747 shares but declined 43 cents to close at $9.50, Kingston Properties closed with a rise of $3.30, to a 52 weeks’ high of $9.80, after trading 3,000 units.

Margaritaville Turks traded 49,500 to end at 20 US cents, National Commercial Bank traded 82,360 shares, to close with a rise of 45 cents at $40.25. Pan Jamaican Investment fell back $1.70 to close trading at $121 but with 14,738 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica rose 2 cents in trading 12,525 shares at $1.32, Sagicor Group ended with 963,187 shares changing hands, to end at $22.30. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 9,981 shares but ended with a loss of 15 cents at $10, Scotia Group closed at $30 while 249,275 units changed hands, Supreme Ventures closed at $5.24 with 19,300 shares changing hands, after gaining 24 cents and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share traded with 20,000 shares at $1.04 with a loss of 1 cent.

Margaritaville Turks traded 531,220 shares at 20 US cents on friday

Trading volumes remained low on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday even as the active number of securities remain at elevated levels. The market closed with 35 securities changing hands, accounting for just 3,475,337 units valued at $40,616,397, in all market segments. The junior market had 2,388,762 shares valued at $2,388,762 trading.
Investors pushed the price of 13 stocks in the overall market up, 13 down, including 3 stocks rising and 4 declining, from the junior market. The JSE Market Index moved down by 192.18 points to end at 153,690.27. The all Jamaica Composite Index declined by 214.93 points to close at 170,713.62 and the JSE combined index slipped 54.76 points, to close at 164,532.54.

At the end of market activities, Berger Paints traded with 4,500 shares to close at $4.38, Cable & Wireless fell 5 cents and closed at $1.28 after trading 143,757 units, Carreras dropped $1.49 with 20,051 units trading to close at $64.51, Grace Kennedy traded 100 units to gain $1 and closed at $90. Hardware and Lumber jumped $3.50 to end at $16 as 500 shares changed hands, Jamaica Broilers closed with a fall of 43 cents at $14.21 while trading 3,664 shares, Jamaica Producers traded 10,000 shares at $35, Margaritaville Turks traded 531,220 to end at 20 US cents. JSE mn fn qts 20-5-16 National Commercial Bank traded 37,465 shares, to close with a fall of 19 cents at $39.80. Pan Jamaican Investment climbed back $1.70 to close trading at $122.70 but with just 400 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica rose 3 cents in trading 70,612 shares at $1.30, Sagicor Group ended with 71,400 shares changing hands, fell 20 cents, to end at $22.30. Scotia Group closed with a fall of $2.70 to end at $30 while 81,365 units changed hands, Scotia Investments fell $1.09 to $25 with 12,880 shares changing hands, Sterling Investments lost 92 cents and closed at $11.98 with 24,800 shares trading. Supreme Ventures closed at $5 with 16,339 shares changing hands, after falling 29 cents and Proven Investments traded with a gain of 2 US cents to 20 US cents with 49,000 shares trading.
