Main market stocks make gains – Monday

Stocks remained volatile in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday, but the main market indices closed higher with the All Jamaica Index ending 3,162 points ahead of Friday’s close closing much lower than the 9,168.21 points it put on, 30 minutes after trading opened.
Market activity closed with 30 active securities in the main and US dollar markets, compared to 30 on Friday with the prices of 11 stocks rose, 14 declined and 5 remained unchanged.
The All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 3,162.03 points to 392,013.71 and the JSE Index advanced 2,880.96 points to close at 357,168.84.
Main market trading closed with Grace Kennedy leading with 7,016,055 units, or just less than 82 percent of the day’s volume, PanJam Investment with 305,749 units with and 3.6 percent of volume traded.

The market closed with much more trading volume and value than on Friday as 8,566,949 units valued at $433,399,089 changed hands, compared with 7,711,871 units valued at $172,980,680 being exchanged, on Friday.
Trading resulted in an average of 295,412 units valued at over $14,944,796, in contrast to 275,424 shares valued at $6,177,881 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date, amounts to 256,707 valued at $4,301,615, compared to 253,590 valued at $3,374,731. Trading in the US dollar market amounted to 17,541 units valued at $3,348 as Proven Investments was the sole stock trading and ended at 19 U$ cents.
The JSE USD Equities Index inched 0.36 points higher to close at 157.79.

NCB jumps sharply to a new record – Friday

NCB closed at a record high on Friday.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday, with NCB Financial Group jumping $7.58 and ended trading 585,404 shares at record $137.99, after the Financial Securities commission of Trinidad announced clearance for NCB to proceed with the acquisition of up to nearly 52 percent of Guardian Holdings.
Market activity closed with 30 active securities in the main and US dollar markets, compared to 32 on Thursday with the prices of 14 stocks rose, 10 declined and 6 remained unchanged.
The All Jamaica Composite Index lost 1,646.73 points to 388,851.68 and the JSE Index declined by 1,500.36 points to close at 354,287.88.
Main market trading closed with Carreras leading with 4,106,737 units, or 53 percent of the day’s volume, JMMB Group 7.25% preference shares with 862,000 units with and 11 percent of volume traded and NCB Financial with 585,404 units accounting for 7.6 percent of main market volume.

Falling stocks dominate JSE main market – Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market lost more ground on Thursday, with volume exceeding Wednesday’s levels by a wide margin.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market lost ground on Tuesday but with the advancing stocks just edged out declining stocks by one.

NCB push JSE sharply higher on Thursday

NCB had a good 2018 fiscal year with strong profit gains.

NCB Financial Group climbed $6 and ended trading the highest volume for the day of 302,785 shares to end at a record close at $133 and helping the All Jamaica Composite Index to jump over 6,000 points and helping to reverse some of the 13,784 points lost over the previous three days.
At the close of market activity closed with 26 active securities in the main and US dollar markets, on Thursday compared to 29 on Wednesday with the prices of 11 stocks rising while just 5 fell and 10 remained unchanged.
The All Jamaica Composite Index surged 6,136.87 points to close at 390,019.94 and the JSE Index jumped 5,591.38 points to close at 355,352.32.

Another big fall for JSE on Wednesday

The volume of stocks trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange picked up moderately on Wednesday, but that was inadequate to stem another sharp fall in the main market indices as several sharp price movement impacted the market.
At the close of market activity, the prices of 8 securities rose, 13 declined, while 8 remained unchanged, with the All Jamaica Composite Index dropping another 5,289.54 points to close at 383,883.07 after falling 3,094.77 points on Tuesday and falling more than 5,400 points on Monday and the JSE Index dived 4,819.37 points to close at 349,760.94.
Trading closed with 29 active securities in the main and US dollar markets, on Wednesday compared to 30 on Tuesday with 3,082,297 units valued at $88,764,558 changing hands compared with 2,572,843 units valued at $35,216,901 being exchanged, on Tuesday.

Main market trading closed with Victoria Mutual Investments leading with 1,026,110 units, or 39.9 percent of the day’s volume and Wisynco Group with 1,006,114 units and 39.1 percent of volume traded.
