Main market pulled back on Tuesday

A large 12,000,000 units trade at $5 each, in 138 Student Living Preference share, led main market trading to amass 14,630,432 units, valued at $92,049,016 at the close. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 85,076 units valued at over US$26,436.65 or J$3,383,891. The market indices fell moderately at the close of trading.
In market activity, Barita Investments closed at $6.85 trading 6,000 units, Berger Paints lost 13 cents to close at $11.76 with an exchange of 2,150 units, Cable and Wireless traded 412,138 shares to close at $1.33 for a loss of 2 cents, Caribbean Cement closed $3 higher to $36 with trades of 28,809 shares. Carreras advanced $1 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $75, with an exchange of 2,843 units, 1834 Investments gained 5 cents to close at $1.55 with 21,031 shares changing hands, Grace Kennedy lost 67 cents to close at $41 with trades of 214,819 units, Jamaica Broilers closed lower at $14.85 with a loss of $1.40 trading 30,192 shares. Jamaica Producers closed with a loss of 10 cents to $17.90 with 13,688 units changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 50 cents to close at $10.50 with 332,860 shares traded. JMMB Group declined $2.89 to close at $20 with an exchange of 284,397 units, Kingston Properties closed at $11 trading 3,045 shares, Kingston Wharves slid $1, closing at $30 trading 3,910 units, Margaritaville Turks lost 1 US cent to close at 35 US cents with an exchange of 18,163 shares, Mayberry Investments lost 8 cents, closing at $5.32 with 18,223 shares changing hands, National Commercial Bank closed lower at $62, losing 80 cents, after swapping 42,384 units. Pan Jamaican closed trading at $40 with gains of 50 cents and an exchange of 35,650 shares, Portland JSX gained 5 cents to close at $11 trading just 240 units, Pulse Investments closed at $6.80 with 6,688 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica lost 5 cents to close at $1.85 trading 272,339 units. Sagicor Group closed at $37.10, climbing $2.10 with trades of 62,195 units, Sagicor Real Estate fund lost 30 cents, to close at $11 with an exchange of 87,762 units. Scotia Group gained $1.50, closing higher at $40.50 having traded 27,020 shares, Scotia Investments closed at $40, with a fall of $1 while trading 5,825 units, Sterling Investments traded 5,000 shares at $16, for a gain of 35 cents, Supreme Ventures closed at $5.50 with an exchange of 209,312 shares. Proven Investments closed at 30 US cents trading 66,913 ordinary shares and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share fell 2 cents to close at $1.05 trading 501,812 units changing hands.
More retreat for Jamaican stocks – Wednesday

The market closed Wednesday, with 11 stocks gaining and 7 declining coming from the junior market as 5 securities ending at new 52 weeks’ closing highs.
The All Jamaica Composite Index dropped 1,229.08 points to close at 252,244.95, the JSE Market Index fell 1,099.01 points to finish at 229,926.34 and the JSE combined index lost 1,039.04 points, to close at 244,837.81.
At the close, 14,119,849 units valued at $235,690,329 changed hands, compared to 9,830,806 units valued at $174,930,678 changing hands on Tuesday. Of the stocks traded, the junior market accounted for 6,418,006 units valued at over $39,202,136.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 237,979 shares compared to an average of 210,760 units on Tuesday. For the month to date, an average of 213,191 shares compared to an average of 188,403 units up to the prior trading day. January ended with an average of 592,602 units.
