Enthusiasm missing from Junior Market

Investors were less enthusiastic about trading Junior Market stocks on Thursday and exchanged just 27 securities accounting for 2,370,191 units valued at $6,835,545, down from 2,851,105 units valued at $9,931,668 from 32 securities on Wednesday.
Rising and declining stocks were evenly spread at ten each, with six ending unchanged. At the close with the index, adding a mere 9.28 points to close at 2,369.78 and only partially reversed the 36.90 points fall on Wednesday and the market’s PE ratio closed at 8.7 times 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with an average volume that is well below recent norms and finished with only 87,785 units at $253,168 for each security, in contrast to 89,097 units for an average of $310,365 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 145,417 units valued at $376,592 and previously 232,941 units valued at $419,118. In contrast, April closed with an average of 447,863 units valued at $1,028,076 for each security traded.

Indies Pharma shed 13 cents in the exchange of 29,379 units to close at $2.25, ISP Finance closed 9 cents higher at $15.99, with 500 stock units traded, Jetcon Corporation gained one cent to end at 87 cents, after swapping 125,336 shares. Lasco Distributors closed trading of 40,920 units and gained 21 cents to end at $3.21, Lasco Financial rose 10 cents to $2.70 with an exchange of 500 shares, Lasco Manufacturing declined 7 cents to settle at $3.87 in trading 3,000 units. Junior Market sinks 37 points – Wednesday

The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator at the close of Tuesday with negative readings suggesting more losses for the Junior Market on Wednesday on top of the 24.14 points fall on Tuesday. The market sank 36.90 points at the close of the trading day to 2,360.50.

JSE Junior Market slips on Monday

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday lifted the market index to more than 2,445 points just a few points on Friday’s close, but the market could not build on the early momentum and ended the day with a modest loss of 11.90 points to close at 2,421.54.
At the close of market activities with 31 securities changed hands, with the prices of 12 securities advanced, 12 declined and seven remained unchanged and the average PE of Junior Market. Stocks ended at 8.9 times 2020-21 earnings. Trading ended, resulting in an exchange of 3,914,568 units valued at $10,441,625 compared to 6,671,271 units valued at $14,495,961 on Friday.
Trading ended with an average of 126,276 units at $336,827 for each security trading in contrast to 202,160 units for an average of $439,272 on Friday. The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange failed to hold on to its early gains that saw the market index rising 61.5 points to 2,477.08 in the morning session on Thursday, and finished the day with a decline of 8.16 points to close at 2,407.42 after rising 103 points for April.

Junior Market rally fades at close – Wednesday

The Junior Market made strong early gains in trading on Wednesday, but as the market moved towards the close, the increase started to slowly evaporate with the index giving up all the rise to close down a mere 0.42 points to end at 2,415.58.

Junior Market regains footing – Tuesday

The Junior Market recovered from a slight dip on Monday to record modest gains on Tuesday even as the number of securities declining outweigh those advancing as trading picked up, buoyed by dominant activity in shares of Lumber Depot, Main Event and Mailpac.

Junior Market faltered on Monday

Friday’s rally was short-lived as the Junior Market lost 15.44 points to close at 2,398.80 on Monday after the prices of 16 securities advanced, 14 declined and four remained unchanged as trading picks up over Friday’s levels.

After attempting to rally on the previous four days with gains in the morning sessions and getting hit by selling that push the market lower on each occasion, the Junior Market finally relented and rose on Friday.
At the close, the Junior Market Index advanced 35.13 points to close at 2,414.24 after risen over 50 points at one stage of the day and left the average PE ratio ended at 8.8 times 2020-21 earnings. Market activities resulted in prices of 6 securities advancing, 12 losing and 12 remaining unchanged.

Junior Market stocks drift lower – Wednesday

The Junior Market drifted lower at the close of trading on Wednesday after the market climbed to over 2,477 points in the morning session and later declined 15.06 points lower than on Tuesday to close at 2,437.57.

MailPac traded 69 million shares to dominate Junior Market trading.

Trading ended on Wednesday with 33 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 115,474,401 units valued at $258,980,019 compared to 9,178,794 units valued at $16,852,497 also from 33 companies on Tuesday. There were three big trades for the day with MailPac Group controlling the lion’s share of 59 percent with an exchange of 68 million units for over $117 million, Limners and Bards traded 42 million shares, amounting $75.6 million. At the same time, Access Financial Services saw 2.3million stock units changing hands for $58.6 million.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 13 securities advanced, 14 declined and six remained unchanged. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market ended at 8.9 based on 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with an average of 3,499,224 units at $7,847,879 for each security traded, in contrast to 278,145 units for an average of $510,682, on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 506,987 units valued at $1,165,701 and previously 263,175 units valued at $621,227. In comparison, March closed with an average of 226,230 units, valued at $542,563 for each security traded.
