The Jamaica Stock exchange main market indices temporarily broke the winning streak with minor declines on Tuesday with the All Jamaica Composite Index slipping 37.23 points to end at 194,885.44. The JSE Market Index lost 33.30 points to finish at a record closing high of 178,324.34.
The JSE combined index fell 59.59 points to end at 190,169.62 with a gain for the year to date of 20 percent. Trading ended with only 33 securities trading. The prices of 11 stocks gained while 7 declined in the overall market, including 3 stocks rising and 3 falling, in the junior market.
At the close with 1,218,248 units valued at $9,074,534 changed hands, compared to 4,243,795 units valued at $24,651,644 changing hands on Monday. The junior market accounted for 918,920 units changing hands, valued at $5,225,495 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 16,629 shares and 253,298 units month to date. On Monday, an average of 31,898 units traded and for the month to date, 489,966 units, in comparison the average for the October was 220,811 units.

In market activity, Barita Investments had trading in 16,200 shares, to end at $5, Cable & Wireless rose by 3 cents in trading 38,352 units to close at 74 cents, Grace Kennedy dropped $2 and ended trading 45,489 units at $40. Jamaica Broilers closed at $14.90 with 4,634 shares changing hands, Jamaica Producers traded 8,363 shares to end at $8.30, Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 106,532 shares and rose 1 cent to end at $5.52, Mayberry Investments traded 4,500 shares to close at $3.66. National Commercial Bank gained 5 cents and ended at $50.05 with 4,788 shares trading, PANJAM Investment traded 5,514 units at $24.50 after gaining 50 cents, Radio Jamaica lost 5 cents in trading 5,042 units to close at $1.30. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 12,048 units with the price rising 1 cent to $10.26 and Scotia Group rose 29 cents with 16,400 shares changing hands to close at $32.

Trading falls for junior stocks – Tuesday
The junior market index lost 2.79 points to end at 2,413.51 on Tuesday as the prices of 3 stocks rose and 3 declined with 15 securities trading, compared with 17 on Monday. The movement in the junior market index still left the gain for the year to date at 35 percent.
The volume of stocks traded dropped sharply on Tuesday by 73 percent from Monday’s level and ending with 918,920 units changing hands, valued at $5,225,495, down 67 percent from $15,863,525 on Monday.
Market activities ended with 5 securities closing with bids higher than their last selling prices and 3 ending with lower offers.
An average of 61,261 units with an average value of $348,366 traded, compared to 202,726 units with an average value of $933,149 on the preceding trading day. The average for the month to date is 111,031 units for an average of $619,605 compared to 113,520 units valued at $633,167 on Monday and 129,138 units with an average value of $709,705 for October.
Eppley ordinary stock is yet to trade, after a split into 150 stock units for each one previously held.

Knutsford Express traded 600 units at $20, Lasco Distributors closed with 104,223 shares changing hands, at $6.80, Lasco Financial ended with 377,603 shares changing hands at $3.20. Lasco Manufacturing closed with a loss of 14 cents at $4.55 with 2,876 shares changing hands, Medical Disposables traded 3,990, shares to close at $4.30 and Paramount Trading with 1,400 units changing hands closed at $3.50.
JSE main market climbs in morning trading
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange resulted in the main market indices continuing to climb while junior market index decline marginally in early Tuesday trading. The volume and value of trades were very low and well down from the level on Monday.
A total of 22 securities traded of which 5 advanced and 3 fell, resulting in a volume of 158,064 shares changing hands carrying a value of a $1,132,861 compared with 4,494,219 shares changing hands with a value of $16,491,042 on Monday. The average number of shares traded, amount to 7,185 units versus 224,711 units on Monday.
At 10:50 am the all Jamaica Composite Index jumped 533.90 points to 195,456.57, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index climbed 477.39 points to 178,835.03, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index gained 413.66 points to close at 190,642.87 and the junior market index fell 2.83 points to end at 2,413.47.
Juniors volume surge – Monday
The junior market index lost 10.44 points to end at 2,416.30 on Monday as the prices of 5 stocks rose and 5 declined with 17 securities trading, compared with 14 on Friday. The movement in the junior market index left the gain for the year to date at 35 percent.
The volume of stocks traded jumped sharply on Monday by 1,865 percent from Friday’s level and ending with 3,446,347 units changing hands, valued at $15,863,525, up 1,928 percent from $782,192 on Friday.
Market activities ended with 4 securities closing with bids higher than their last selling prices and 2 ending with lower offers.
An average of 202,726 units with an average value of $933,149 traded, compared to 11,694 units with an average value of $52,146 on the preceding trading day. Lasco Distributors gained 20 cents with 8,000 shares changing hands, to close at $6.80, Lasco Financial rose 5 cents and ended with 202,636 shares changing hands at $3.20. Lasco Manufacturing closed with a loss of 1 cent at $4.69 with 2,507,570 shares changing hands, Paramount Trading with 5,000 units changing hands closed at $3.50 and tTech traded 1,500 shares but rose 50 cents to $5.50.

The average number of shares traded, amount to 224,711 units versus 22,607 units on Friday.

The volume of stocks traded declined sharply on Friday by 83 percent from Thursday’s level and ending with 175,408 units changing hands, valued at $782,192, down 85 percent from $5,281,239 on Thursday.

JSE climbs sharply in morning session
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange resulted in the main market indices climbing sharply with a rise of $2 in the price of National Commercial Bank with just 1,000 shares changing hands, while junior market index inched up moderately.
