Junior Market dives on Tuesday

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange took another hit on Tuesday, following a moderate rise in the volume of stocks traded and an 86 percent surge in value over Monday’s level with trading of 44 securities compared with 40 on Monday and ended with prices of just nine rising, 25 declining and 10 closing unchanged, but the market closed with the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator flashing a positive signal for Wednesday opening.
Investors traded 7,063,052 shares for $22,550,480 compared with 6,466,809 units at $12,152,568 on Monday.
Trading averaged 160,524 shares at $512,511, compared with 161,670 units at $303,814 on Monday with the month to date, averaging 146,734 units at $370,261 compared with 139,244 stock units at $292,990 on the previous day. November closed with an average of 262,280 units at $587,545.
Spur Tree Spices led trading with 1.27 million shares for 18 percent of total volume followed by Jamaican Teas with 1.04 million units for 14.7 percent of the day’s trade and Regency Petroleum with 885,756 units for 12.5 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index skidded 35.17 points to end the day at 3,677.75.

Big declines in Main & Junior Markets on Tuesday

Trading picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday with a greater volume of stocks trading at a much higher value than on Monday, with both the Main and the junior Market indices dropping from Monday’s close while the JSE USD Market rose after sharp declines in a series of stocks led by Guardian Holdings, down $104.99, ISP finance with a fall of $7.50, Pan Jamaica down $5.41, Seprod falling $4.70, Eppley Property $4.30, Carib Cement off $2.77 and Access down $2,45.
Trading closed with a plunge in JSE Combined Market Index by 4,203.69 points to end trading at 323,867.88, the All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 3,347.62 points to finish at 347,377.50, the JSE Main Index dived 4,153.74 points to 310,988.80. The Junior Market Index dropped 35.17 points to wrap-up trading at 3,677.75 on Tuesday and the JSE USD Market Index rose 3.47 points to end trading at 227.60.
Investors traded 20,284,498 shares, in all three markets, up from 12,196,470 units on Monday. The value of stocks traded on the Junior and Main markets amounts to $174.37 million up from just $40.13 million on Monday, as Wisynco Group dominated trading with 5.18 million shares for $104 million. The JSE USD market closed after 198,410 shares were traded, for US$3,547 compared to 89,619 units at US$7,899 on Monday.
In the preference segment, Jamaica Public Service 7% popped $1 to end at $46.

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 62 percent and the value 64 percent lower than Wednesday even as eight securities traded more than 1 million shares following activity in 46 securities trading similar to Wednesday and ended with prices of 27 rising, nine declining and 10 closing unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index advanced 76.62 points to lock up trading at 3,771.09 with the market closing 91.78 points lower than the October close and is down 5.4 percent for the year to date.
Investors traded 20,658,101 shares for $44,997,586 compared to 54,284,961 units at $125,759,136 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 449,089 shares at $978,208, compared with 1,180,108 units at $2,733,894 on Wednesday with the month to date, averaging 262,280 units at $587,545 versus 252,391 units at $566,865 on the previous day, and below October’s average of 361,392 units at $863,984.

Trading dropped sharply at the close of the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday but delivered a sharp recovery in the Market index following a 53 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded with a 62 percent lower value than Thursday as trading occurred in 39 securities, up from just 34 on Thursday and ended with 18 rising, 13 declining and eight closing unchanged as iCreate and One on One closed at 52 weeks’ lows.

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 88 percent and the value 79 percent lower than Wednesday and sent the market in a major fall of more than 84 points after trading took place in only 34 securities down from 42 on Wednesday and ended with 10 rising, 19 declining and five closing unchanged after Dolphin Cove traded at an intraday high of $19.97 but closed lower and JFP Ltd hit an intraday low of $1.23 before the price rebounded to close the day higher.

At the close, Access Financial slipped 10 cents to end trading at $28.40 after 15 shares were exchanged, AMG Packaging increased 36 cents in closing at $2.43 with investors swapping 201 units, CAC 2000 climbed 60 cents to close at $4.61 and closed with an exchange of 25 shares. Cargo Handlers rose $1 to $14 with investors trading 599 stock units, Caribbean Assurance Brokers advanced 21 cents to close at $2.74, with 14,539 shares crossing the market, Caribbean Flavours regained 22 cents to end at $1.52 after an exchange of 82,173 stock units. Dolphin Cove rallied 70 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $18.70 with 9,093 stock units changing hands, Everything Fresh gained 10 cents to close at $1.60 with stakeholders trading 135,178 stocks, Express Catering rose 23 cents to $3.99 in switching ownership of 55,178 units. Fosrich advanced 18 cents to end at $2.38 with investors dealing in 264,434 shares, Lumber Depot popped 10 cents in closing at $2.60 in an exchange of 3,816 stocks, Main Event fell 75 cents to $13.55, with 1,213 stock units changing hands. MFS Capital Partners increased 17 cents to end at $2.07 in trading 97,877 shares, Spur Tree Spices dipped 9 cents to close at $2.08 after 43,078 units crossed the exchange and Tropical Battery climbed 15 cents and ended at $2 with a transfer of 16,337,249 stocks.

Sharp Junior Market fall as trading surges

Trading surged over Friday’s levels on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange at the close on Monday, with the volume of stocks traded jumping 1,320 percent valued 1,375 percent more than Friday after trading ended with an exchange of 43 securities compared with 40 on Friday and ended with declining stocks overwhelming the nine with the price increases and ended with 27 declining and seven closing unchanged.
Investors traded 24,523,793 shares for $60,261,332 compared with 1,727,434 units at $4,084,376 on Friday as Future Energy traded over 8 million valued just under $30 million and Tropical Battery with 12 million shares at near $23 million.
Tropical Battery led trading with 12.03 million shares for 49 percent of total volume followed by Future Energy with 8.25 million units for 33.6 percent of the day’s trade and One Great Studio with 856,430 units for 3.5 percent market share.
Trading averaged 570,321 shares at $1,401,426 compared with 43,186 shares at $102,109 on Friday, with the month to date, averaging 158,559 units at $395,758 compared with 105,067 stock units at $265,112 on the previous day. October closed with an average of 361,392 units at $863,984.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dipped 62.76 points to 3,765.99.

Fontana fell 9 cents to close at $10.89 with a transfer of 91,148 stocks, GWest Corporation declined 13 cents to close at 90 cents with investors exchanging 133,087 units, Honey Bun shed 28 cents and ended at $6.39 in switching ownership of 41,280 stock units. Jamaican Teas popped 10 cents to end at $2.18, with 150,000 shares changing hands, Jetcon Corporation dropped 24 cents to close at 70 cents with shareholders swapping 79,000 stocks, Lasco Manufacturing skidded 23 cents to end at $4.50 after 6,143 units crossed the market. Lumber Depot dipped 13 cents to $2.50 while exchanging 4,339 stock units, Main Event increased 14 cents to end at $14.60 with 68 shares clearing the market, Medical Disposables fell 14 cents in closing at $3.36 in trading 6,806 units and MFS Capital Partners dipped 8 cents to close at $1.92 with investors transferring 224,968 stocks.
