Rising and falling stocks shared the spotlight on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, following a 52 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded after the value plunged 67 percent compared with Thursday trading as trading ended with 41 securities changing hands down from 44 on Thursday and ended with 17 rising, 18 declining and five closing unchanged and ending with the Junior Market Index popping 8.65 points to close at 3,828.75 after two stocks closed on 52 weeks’ lows.
Investors traded 1,727,434 shares for $4,084,376 down from 3,568,081 units at $12,531,088 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 43,816 shares with an average value of $102,109, down from 87,026 stock units at $305,636 on Thursday, with the month to date, averaging 105,067 units at $265,112 compared with 113,573 stock units at $287,518 on the previous day, well down from October with an average of 361,392 units at $863,984.
Indies Pharma was the leading traded stock with 342,085 units accounting for 19.8 percent of total volume and was followed by One On One Educational Services, with 161,988 units for 9.38 percent of the day’s trade and Spur Tree Spies, 140,115 units for 8.1 percent market share.

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 35 percent and the value 25 percent lower than Wednesday following trading in 41 securities compared with 44 on Wednesday and ended with 12 rising, 22 declining and seven closing unchanged and ending with the Junior Market Index popping 18.08 points to close at 3,820.10 after two stocks closed on 52 weeks’ lows.
Investors traded 3,568,081 shares for $12,531,088 compared with 5,519,040 units at $16,710,818 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 87,026 shares at $305,636, compared to 125,433 shares at $379,791 on Wednesday with the month to date, averaging 113,573 units at $287,518 compared with 117,927 stock units at $284,547 on the previous day, well down from October with an average of 361,392 units at $863,984.

Trading rises on Junior Market

Trading bounced sharply on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 73 percent, with the value 128 percent more than Tuesday after trading in 44 securities compared with 39 on Tuesday and ended with prices of 13 rising, 18 declining and 13 closing unchanged.
Investors traded 5,519,040 shares for $16,710,818 up from 3,189,510 units at $7,343,915 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 125,433 shares at $379,791, much higher than the 81,782 units at $188,306 on Tuesday with the month to date, averaging 117,927 units at $284,547 compared with 116,323 stock units at $264,203 on the previous day. October closed with an average of 361,392 units at $863,984.
Future Energy led trading with 1.29 million shares for 23.4 percent of the day’s total volume, and was followed by JFP Ltd with 468,116 units for 8.5 percent of the day’s trade and EduFocal with 405,072 units for 7.3 percent market share.

Trading jumps on Junior Market

Trading jumped sharply on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday, with a 43 percent climb in the volume of stocks traded and the value jumping 156 percent more than Friday after trading took place in 45 securities compared with 43 on Friday and ended with prices of 15 rising, 20 declining and 10 closing unchanged, but the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator closed positive at the close suggesting an up day at the start of trading on Tuesday that closes the month and could benefit from the usual end of month rally.

Junior Market slips Friday as trading jumps

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Friday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 136 percent and the value 72 percent more than Thursday after investors traded just under 27 million shares of Paramount Trading, in a total of 43 securities that were traded compared with 40 on Thursday and ended with only 12 rising, 22 declining, with nine unchanged.
Investors traded 31,163,597 shares for $55,490,400 compared with 13,232,540 units at $32,353,607 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 724,735 shares at $1,290,474, compared to 330,814 units at $808,840 on Thursday, with the month to date averaging 301,689 shares at $662,359 compared with 277,785 stock at $626,868 on the previous day. September closed with an average of 220,239 units at $459,425.
Paramount Trading led trading with 26.77 million shares for 85.9 percent of total volume, followed by Dolla Financial with 1.16 million units for 3.7 percent of the day’s trade and One Great Studio with 584,033 units for 1.9 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index lost 11.26 points to close at 3,920.71.

Junior Market blast through the 3,900 mark

Investors pushed the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange to close above what has become the challenging 3,900 mark on Tuesday, following trading in 42 securities compared with 43 on Monday and ended with 17 rising, 18 declining and seven closing unchanged, with the volume of stocks traded falling 58 percent and the value 55 percent lower than Monday.
Investors traded 5,882,396 shares for $12,191,518, down from 14,063,733 units at $27,307,285 on Monday.
Trading averaged 140,057 shares at $290,274, compared with 327,064 units at $635,053 on Monday, with trading for the month to date averaging 279,374 units at $626,269 compared with 288,574 stock units at $648,457 on the previous day. September closed with an average of 220,239 units at $459,425.
Dolla Financial led trading with 1.59 million shares for 27.1 percent of total volume, followed by EduFocal with 532,433 units for 9.1 percent of the day’s trade and JFP Ltd with 432,993 units for 7.4 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 38.66 points to close at 3,921.43.
