Junior Market highest close since November 10

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange jumped a solid 91.02 points to close at 4,058.24 on Tuesday, following two previous days of healthy gains as the market closed at the highest point since November 10 last year with 1.8 percent rise for 2023 to date. Trading resulted in an 18 percent rise in the volume of stocks changing hands with the value surging  143 percent higher than on Monday after trading took place in 45 securities, similar to Monday, and ended with 25 rising, 13 declining and 7 closing unchanged.
A total of 17,230,599 shares were traded for $84,183,965, compared with 14,577,720 units at $34,703,364 on Monday.
Trading averaged 382,902 shares at $1,870,755 compared with 323,949 units at $771,186 on Monday with the month to date averaging 239,755 units at $646,375 compared to 232,638 stock units at $585,494 on Monday, the previous day. December closed with an average of 333,420 units at $925,533.
Spur Tree Spices led trading with 3.79 million shares for 22 percent of total volume followed by Regency Petroleum with 2.58 million units for 15 percent of the day’s trade, Knutsford Express with 2.02 million units for 11.7 percent market share, Future Energy Source with 1.34 million units for 7.8 percent, Fosrich with 1.24 million units for 7.2 percent and Stationery and Office Supplies with 1.02 million units for 5.9 percent market share.

Junior Market climbs for a second day

Trading jumped on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday with the Market Index rising 29.17 points to 3,967.22, following a 54 points rally on Friday and a 33 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded and the value 28 percent above Friday’s trades from 45 securities trading compared with 44 on Friday, ending with 19 rising, 21 declining and five closing unchanged.
A total of 14,577,720 shares were traded for $34,703,364, up from 10,955,295 units at $27,089,084 on Friday.
Trading averaged 323,949 shares at $771,186 compared with 248,984 units at $615,661 on Friday, with the month to date averaging 232,638 units at $585,494, up from 227,860 stock units at $575,778 on the previous trading day. December closed with an average of 333,420 units at $925,533.

Juniors bounce on Friday

Stocks mostly rose on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, pushing the Market Index 53.99 points higher to 3,938.05, recovering most of the 57 points loss on the previous day, as the market closed with a 13 percent fall in the volume of stocks traded as the value fell 15 percent from Thursday’s activities after trading of 44 securities compared with 46 on Thursday and ending with 21 rising, 13 declining and ten closing unchanged.

Image Plus pushes Junior Market trading

Shares of the last Initial Public Offer in 2022, Image Plus Consultants, were listed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday bringing the number of companies on the market to a record 48. The company’s shares dominated trading with just over 61 percent of the total volume of stocks traded, pushing the volume of stocks trading in the market 77 percent higher, with a 68 percent rise in the value compared to Thursday.
Trading in 46 securities on Friday, compares to 45 on Thursday and resulted in prices of 20 rising, 15 declining and 11 left unchanged and led to an exchange of 20,295,875 shares for $50,102,944 compared to 11,460,696 units at $29,877,310 on Thursday.

Big fall for Junior Market

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange plunged on Thursday after the volume of stocks traded rose 55 percent and the value climbed 61 percent more than Wednesday with trading in 45 securities trading up from 43 on Wednesday and ended with 11 rising, 26 declining and eight closing unchanged.
A total of 11,460,696 shares were traded for $29,877,310 compared to 7,376,918 units at $18,528,560 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 254,682 shares at $663,940 compared with 171,556 units at $430,897 on Wednesday. The month to date, averaged 187,355 units at $481,322 compared with 181,703 stock units at $465,990 on Wednesday, the previous day. December closed with an average of 333,420 units at $925,533.
Paramount Trading led trading with 4.85 million shares for 42.3 percent of total volume followed by Dolla Financial with 1.42 million units for 12.4 percent of the day’s trade and MFS Capital Partners with 1.04 million units for 9.1 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index shed 72.07 points to settle at 3,963.89.

Junior Market highest since December close

After spending the first half of January below the 2022 close, the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange has climbed 1.2 percent for the year to date with one technical indicator pointing to higher ground for the market when it closed on Wednesday. The volume of stocks traded declined 40 percent and the value 40 percent lower than on Tuesday with 43 securities trading, similar to Tuesday and ending with prices of 16 rising, 17 declining and 10 closing unchanged.
Only 7,376,918 shares were traded for $18,528,560 down from 12,267,173 units at $30,849,632 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 171,556 shares at $430,897 compared with 285,283 units at $717,433 on Tuesday with the month to date, averaging 181,703 units at $465,990 versus 182,588 stock units at $469,051 on the previous day. December closed with an average of 333,420 units at $925,533.
Regency Petroleum led trading with 1.92 million shares for 26 percent of total volume followed by ONE on ONE Educational with 1.15 million units for 15.6 percent of the day’s trade and MFS Capital Partners with 781,071 units for 10.6 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index popped 29.27 points to settle at 4,035.96.
