JSE main market ends down on Monday

Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Monday with a number of stocks declining out pacing those rising. The volume and value of stocks trading declined compared to that on Friday and the market indices trended lower.
The All Jamaica Composite Index declined 165.52 points to close at 258,454.14, the JSE Market Index fell 150.81 points to 235,480.98 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 3.32 points to close at 187.33.
At the close of trading, 23 securities changed hands in the main market, plus one bond and 1 stock in the US dollar market traded leading to 7 stocks advancing and 12 declining. Trading in the main market ended with 1,709,564 units valued at $44,534,888 changing hands compared to 2,161,083 units valued at $46,263,769 at the close on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 203,960 units valued at US$48,949 and the bond market had 425,000 units trading at $42,500,000.

Palace leaps $108 on Friday

Palace Amusement hit a record of $498 on Friday.


Cinema owners and movie promoters, Palace Amusement Company’s share price jumped $108 or just under 27 percent to close at an all-time high of $498 with just 888 shares trading on Friday. The movement in the price of the stock contributed in the market indices rising close to 1,000 points.
The stock traded with a gain of $50 to close at $390 on Tuesday in trading 200 shares. Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday with a number of stocks rising being outnumbered by those declining. The volume and value of stocks traded declined compared to the prior day. At the close of the market, the All Jamaica Composite Index gained 982.15 points to close at 258,619.66, the JSE Market Index rose 894.85 points to 235,631.79 and the JSE US dollar market index fell 3.32 points to close at 184.01.

Republic takes 68% of trading

Republic Financial Holdings took the largest value of trading on Wednesday on the TTSE.

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange resumed trading on Wednesday after being closed on Monday and Tuesday with trading values rising above Friday’s levels. Trading closed with Republic Financial Holdings as the dominant trade with just over 68 percent of the total value traded.
The market closed with of 10 securities changing hands compared to 13 on Friday with 2 stocks advancing, 5 declining and 3 holding firm as 195,938 shares traded at a value of $9,062,326 compared to Friday’s trades of 143,801 valued at $2,818,683.
The Composite Index declined 0.91 points to 1,210.54, the All T&T Index dropped 0.72 points to 1,789.03 and the Cross Listed Index lost 0.15 points to 84.71.

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange recovered all the losses it incurred on Thursday and Friday and more putting it back ahead of the closing level at the end of trading on Monday last week but below the close of the prior trading day. The All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 2,627.40 points to close at 259,160.39, the JSE Market Index climbed 2,393.86 points to 236,124.47 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 12.75 points to 200.45.
At the close of trading, 24 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 12 stocks advancing and 9 declining. Trading in the main market ended with 2,726,092 units valued at just $27,555,950 changing hands compared to 4,265,878 units valued at $141,120,152 at the close on Friday.
