JSE Majors in big recovery on Monday

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange recovered all the losses it incurred on Thursday and Friday and more putting it back ahead of the closing level at the end of trading on Monday last week but below the close of the prior trading day. The All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 2,627.40 points to close at 259,160.39, the JSE Market Index climbed 2,393.86 points to 236,124.47 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 12.75 points to 200.45.
At the close of trading, 24 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 12 stocks advancing and 9 declining. Trading in the main market ended with 2,726,092 units valued at just $27,555,950 changing hands compared to 4,265,878 units valued at $141,120,152 at the close on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 5,100 units valued at US$1,326.

In market activity, Barita Investments gained 95 cents to close at $7, with an exchange of a mere 300 shares, Berger Paints gained 51 cents and closed at $17.82, with 39,256 shares trading, Cable and Wireless closed at $1.20, with 83,500 stock units changing hands, Caribbean Cement closed at $26.50, losing 50 cents in trading 2,000 shares, Carreras fell 11 cents in exchanging 1,359 units at $86.79, Grace Kennedy closed at $41, with 61,334 units changing hands, Jamaica Broilers closed at $17.62, with a loss of 38 cents trading 207,100 shares, Jamaica Producers lost 15 cents to close at $15.85, with an exchange of 2,658 units. Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 10 cents to close at $6.90 exchanging 2,029,200 shares, JMMB Group gained $1 to close at $20 trading 5,128 units, Kingston Properties traded 224 shares at $10, Mayberry Investments gained 30 cents to close at $5.30, trading of 17,037 units, NCB Financial Group traded $1 higher to close at $72, after exchanging 14,563 shares, 1834 Investments closed at $1.50, gaining 15 cents with 12,600 units changing hands, PanJam Investment gained 69 cents, in closing at $33.99 trading 672 shares. Portland JSX closed at $10, with gains of 5 cents, exchanging 20,000 units, Pulse Investments traded 50 cents lower to close at $17, with 1,649 shares changing owners, Sagicor Group closed at $34.20, losing 54 cents while trading 33,954 shares. Salada Foods closed at $10, with an exchange of 1,428 units, Scotia Group gained 55 cents to end at $43.55, trading 69,399 shares, Seprod lost 50 cents to close at $29, with 1,000 units traded while Supreme Ventures closed at $7.50, after gaining 24 cents with 71,331 shares changing hands. Proven Investments closed at 26 US cents, with gains of 0.02 US cents in trading 5,100 ordinary shares, JMMB 7. 5% preference share closed at $2, gaining 10 cents with an exchange of 50,000 units and ISP Finance bond traded 5,000 units at a record of $1.10 to gain 10 cents.
