The main market indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange made good gains on Thursday with the all Jamaica Composite Index jumping 1,628.18 points to 185,297.83. The JSE Market Index climbed 1,455.89 points to finish at 166,730.99 and the JSE combined index surged 1,567.18 points to end at 179,309.80 and gained at 12 percent for the year to date.
At the close 4,739,909 units valued at $93,941,257 changed hands, compared to 2,584,785 units valued at $33,734,659 changing hands on Wednesday. The junior market accounted for 1,360,374 units trading valued at $8,009,663 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 153,615 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 166,273 units. 
On Wednesday, an average of 77,761 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 178,931.
The market closed with 41 securities trading as the prices of 11 gained while 14 declined in the overall market, including 3 stocks rising and 10 falling, in the junior market.

JMMB Group gained 3 cents in trading 69,546 units to close at $13.25. Kingston Wharves traded 1,300 shares to close at $17, Mayberry Investments rose 10 cents and ended with 61,100 shares trading at $4.10, National Commercial Bank traded 1,592,552 shares to close with a rise of $1 at $44, Pan Jamaican Investments closed at $23 after trading 4,250 shares. Portland JSX traded 2,650 units with the price gaining 7 cents to $11.10, Radio Jamaica rose 10 cents in trading 15,000 units and to end at $1.50. Sagicor Group had 28,463 shares changing hands and gained 35 cents to close at $22.75, Scotia Group closed at $30.51 with 224,410 shares changing hands, Scotia Investments traded 27,450 shares to close at $30 after falling $1.04 cents and Supreme Ventures traded 268,500 units at $5.15 after rising 15 cents.
Jamaican stocks gain on Wednesday
The main market indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange made modest gains on Wednesday with the all Jamaica Composite Index rising 216.41 points to 183,669.65. The JSE Market Index climbed 193.50 points to finish at 165,275.10 and the JSE combined index rose 551.77 points to end at 177,742.62 and gained at 12 percent for the year to date.
At the close 2,584,785 units valued at $33,734,659 changed hands, compared to 5,164,481 units valued at $41,188,234 changing hands on Tuesday. The junior market accounted for 718,533 units trading valued at $4,825,236 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 77,761 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 178,931 units. On Tuesday, an average of 157,519 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 280,102.
The market closed with 40 securities trading as the prices of 11 gained while 14 declined in the overall market, including 5 stocks rising and 4 falling, in the junior market.

Kingston Wharves traded 5,328 shares to close at $17, Mayberry Investments ended with 265,471 shares trading at $4, National Commercial Bank traded 14,975 shares to close with a decline of 49 cents at $43, Pan Jamaican Investments rose 45 cents to close at $23 after trading 15,199 shares. Portland JSX traded 1,500 units with the price falling 7 cents to $11.03, Radio Jamaica traded 111,388 units and fell 15 cents to end at $1.40. Sagicor Group had 12,768 shares changing hands and lost 15 cents to close at $22.40, Scotia Group rose 36 cents and closed at $30.51 with 388,287 shares changing hands and Proven Investments traded 245,840 units at 19.75 US cents after rising 0.25 cents.

Kingston Wharves traded 3,565 shares to close at $17, Mayberry Investments rose 15 cents and ended with 745,266 shares trading at $4, National Commercial Bank traded 60,773 shares to close with a rise of 16 cents at $43.49, Pan Jamaican Investments declined 1 cent to close at $22.56 after trading 61,235 shares. Portland JSX traded 8,780 units with the price rising 6 cents to $11.10, Radio Jamaica traded 14,435 units and gained 15 cents to end at $1.55. Sagicor Group had 31,499 shares changing hands and closed at $22.55, Scotia Group rose 11 cents and closed at $30.15 with 306,000 shares changing hands. Seprod had 5,000 units changing hands to close with a loss of 48 cents at $24.02, Supreme Ventures traded 168,442 shares and gained 50 cents to close at $5, Proven Investments traded 149,847 units at 19.5 US cents after rising 1.5 cents and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share traded 1,000,151 units at $1.08 for a loss of 1 cent.

At the close 14,409,476 units valued at $129,902,890 changed hands, compared to 17,656,211 units valued at $101,436,212 changing hands on Friday. The junior market accounted for 6,697,473 units trading valued at $36,505,806 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 321333 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 402,684 units. On Friday, an average of 871,081 units traded with the average for the month to date at 484,035.

Kingston Wharves traded 34,845 shares to close at $17, Mayberry Investments ended with 662,483 shares trading at $3.85, National Commercial Bank traded 105,250 shares to close with a fall of 16 cents at $43.33, Student Living closed at $4.71 while trading 43,800 shares and gained 1 cents.
Pan Jamaican Investments gained 1 cent and closed at $22.56 after trading 84,165 shares, Portland JSX traded 549,651 units with the price falling 6 cents to $11.04, Pulse Investments traded 20,000 shares and lost 60 cents to close at $3.30, Radio Jamaica traded 400,000 units and gained 5 cents to end at $1.40. Sagicor Group had 48,361 shares changing hands and closed with a fall of 45 cents at $22.55, Scotia Group rose 2 cents and closed at $30.04 with 1,179,017 shares changing hands. Scotia Investments dropped $2.91 with 28,735 units changing hands to close at $31.04. Seprod had 18,853 units changing hands to close at $24.60, Sterling Investments lost 1 cents in trading 38,000 shares to close at $14.99, Supreme Ventures traded 2,215,656 shares buy fell 2 cents to close at $4.50 after the company’s Chief Executive passed over the week end and Proven Investments traded 150,800 units at 18 US cents after rising 1.5 cents.
Caribbean Cement tops Top 5
Jetcon Corporation and Caribbean Cement sit atop the IC Insider’s Top 5 stocks with the best chance of rising on junior market and main market of the Jamaican Stock Exchange at the end of last week. Both stocks just edging out the number 2 by just a few points.
There were no new entrants in either lists but Caribbean Flavours swapped place with Medical Disposables that now sits at the number 5 spot. In the main market selections Caribbean Cement changed spots with Berger Paints with the latter enjoying a slight price gain while Cement suffered a mild decline in price. AMG Packaging last traded at $21 and seems a candidate for a stock split with limited supply and inadequate liquidity of the stock. 
Blue Power that last traded at $24.50 and is outside the Top 5, is also in category of a potential stock split.
Derrimon Trading sits just below the Top 5 junior market stocks followed by Dolphin Cove CAC 2000, tTech and Caribbean Cream that dropped sharply this past week to $7.
Sitting below the Top 5 in the main market are, Palace, JMMB Group, National Commercial Bank, (NCB) Sterling Investments and Pan Jamaican Investments. Feedback from the market, is that NCB is in strong demand against a background of very limited supply and the price being severely undervalued.
17 Jamaican stocks rise 9 fall
The main market indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange declined again on Friday with the all Jamaica Composite Index dropping 768.16 points to 183,481.17. The decline is in contrast to the advance decline ratio of 2 to 1. The JSE Market Index dived 686.87 points to finish at 165,106.57 and the JSE combined index lost 642.10 points to end at 177,483.42 and gained at 12 percent for the year to date.
At the close 17,656,211 units valued at $101,436,212 changed hands, compared to 2,395,219 units valued at $25,654,956 changing hands on Thursday. The junior market accounted for 234,593 units trading valued at $1,406,575 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 871,081 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 484,035 units. On Thursday, an average of 72,131 units traded with the average for the month to date at 96,990.
The market closed with 33 securities trading as the prices of 17 gained while 9 declined in the overall market, including 7 stocks rising and 3 falling, in the junior market.

Kingston Wharves lost 10 cents in trading 50,784 shares to close at $17, 
Mayberry Investments gained 35 cents and ended with 15,494,469 shares trading at $3.85, National Commercial Bank traded 2,175 shares to close with a rise of $1.49 at $43.49, Pan Jamaican Investments lost 45 cents and closed at $22.55 after trading 10,279 shares. Sagicor Group had 42,789 shares changing hands and closed with a rise of 40 cents at $23, Scotia Group fell 98 cents and closed at $30.02 with 328,747 shares changing hands, Scotia Investments jumped $2.95 with 17,850 units changing hands to close at $33.95. Seprod gained 60 cents as 2,000 units changed hands to close at $24.50, Supreme Ventures traded 51,900 shares buy fell 28 cents to close at $4.52 and Proven Investments traded 1,002,300 units at 16.5 US cents after falling 3.5 cents.
JSE majors in big fall on Wednesday
The main market indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange got clobbered on Wednesday with the all Jamaica Composite Index dropping 2,404.09 points before the close of trading and ended down by with a smaller loss of 1,423.88 at 185,219.39.
The JSE Market Index had dived 2,146.93 points ahead of closing, but clawed back some of the losses, to finish at 166,660.85, having lost 1,273.21 points and the JSE combined index which plunged 2,038.87 points ahead of the close, lost 1,267.83 points to end at 178,971.13 and held a 13 percent for the year to date.
At the close 3,225,271 units valued at $32,690,159 changed hands, compared to 11,005,276 units valued at $189,009,513 changing hands on Tuesday. The junior market accounted for 1,741,347 units trading valued at $9,759,413 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 59,357 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 121,849 units. On Tuesday, an average of 241,975 units traded with the average for the month to date being 184,341.

Mayberry reported third quarter results after the market closed, with net profit of $59 million or 4 cents per share and $320 million or 27 cents per share year to date. Net asset value amounts to $6.77, inclusive of appreciation in the share value of associated companies. National Commercial Bank traded 21,523 shares to close with a gain of $1 at $44, trading in 138 Student Living 169,160 shares changing hands at $4.70, Pan Jamaican Investments lost 25 cents and closed at $23 after trading 70,432 shares, Portland JSX traded 96,160 units with the price rising by 20 cents to $11.10. Sagicor Group fell $1 with 6,000 shares changing hands and closed at $22.60, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 80,169 shares to close at $10.20, Scotia Group lost 95 cents and closed at $30.05 with 19,662 shares changing hands and Scotia Investments lost $2.90 as 2,820 units changed hands to close with at $31.
JSE majors gain on Tuesday

At the close 11,005,276 units valued at $189,009,513 changed hands, compared to 1,362,599 units valued at $11,379,949 changing hands on Friday. The junior market accounted for 4,471,960 units trading valued at $24,376,547 of the stocks traded.

National Commercial Bank traded 37,620 shares to close at $43, Radio Jamaica fell 19 cents in trading 158,763 shares to close at $1.35, Sagicor Group fell 40 cents with 1,016,783 shares changing hands and closed at $23.60 after trading at an intraday 52 weeks’ high of $25.50. Scotia Group closed at $31 with 3,009,596 shares changing hands, Scotia Investments had 53,500 units changing hands to close with a gain of $3.90 at $33.90, Supreme Ventures traded 24,361 shares and gained 3 cents to close at $4.79 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 50,000 units to close at $2.10.
Paramount best Top 5 performer
Paramount Trading having closed on Friday at $23.95 ended up as to top performing stock since IC Insider started the Top 5 selection list. 
All selections recorded gains since they were identified as top stocks.
For the week ended on October 14, Jetcon Corporation emerged as the leader of the list of junior market stocks with the greatest potential gains followed by Access Financial Services, Derrimon Trading rose to over $4 and slipped off the list at the end of the week. Knocking at the door of the list are tTech and Dolphin Cove followed by Derrimon Trading.
Main market stocks all remained in the Top 5 but with changes in position with Barita Investments moving down to number 3 with the price moving to $4.65 and Berger Paints holding the top spot. Sitting just below the Top 5 are Palace Amusements. 
JMMB Group, National Commercial Bank, Mayberry Investments and Sterling Investments all with potential gains over 100 percent.
IC Insider started the Top 5 selection as of September 9 and with just over a month having passed IC Insider looked at the performance of all the selections. Paramount Trading topped the list with a gain of 71 percent followed by 31 percent for Derrimon Trading and 27 percent for Medical Disposables in the junior market and a 48 percent gain for Barita Investments followed by a gain of 35 percent for JMMB Group.
