Junior Market climbs over 2800 points- Friday

FosRich price pressured by profit taking, falls to $2.60..

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Friday with 20 securities changing hands, resulting market index advancing for the fourth straight day, by 39.93 points to close at 2,813.02, even as investors took some profit on recently listed shares.
At the close of trading, 20 securities changed hands compared to 26 on Thursday. The prices of 3 securities advanced, 7 declined and 9 remained unchanged. Trading activities resulted in an exchange of 3,743,313 units valued at $16,211,640 compared to 4,211,446 units valued at $18,316,095 on Thursday.
Trading ended with an average of 187,166 units for an average of $810,582 in contrast to 161,979 units for an average of $704,465 on Thursday. Trading month to date amounts to an average of 143,772 units valued at $599,073 and previously 131,548 units valued at $494,185. December closed with average of 568,732 units valued at $3,447,957 for each security traded.

CAC 2000 profit rise but

CAC2000 the air condition engineering company, reported improved profits for the year to October 2017, after accounting for a provision of $104 million for court judgement claim in the 2016 results.
Profit excluding the amount of the claim fell slightly to $100.5 million in 2017 from $115 million in 2016. Revenues rose 19 percent to $1.2 billion. The situation would have been worse but for a $20 million swing around in bad debts which reduced cost in 2017 by $9.8 million compared to cost of a similar amount in 2016.. Operating cash flows before movements in working capital brought in $121 million up from $49 million in 2016.
Even as revenues climbed strongly, gross profit hardly moved rising to $424 million from $410 million in 2016 as direct cost rose faster than revenues with an increase of 29.5 percent to $786 million.
Directors’ remuneration climbed 25 percent to $41.2 million from $32.5 million, well ahead of the 5 percent increase in staff cost to $116.3 million for the year. Legal and professional fees jumped 47 percent, to $33 million.
Earnings per share ended the year at 78 cents, the stock traded at $7.50 on Friday, before the close of the market. Borrowings ended the fiscal year at $260 million up from $165 million at the end of the 2016 fiscal year, shareholders’ equity rose to $423 million from $322 million in 2016. Cash funds stands at $192 million even as trade receivables climbed $180 million to $536 million but inventories fell $80 million to $209 million.

Junior Market down 20% since May

This Junior market chart is not looking all that good recently but should find support sooner than later.

Trading activities continue to pressure the Junior Market Index leading to a decline of 34.02 points to close at 2,688.73 and a 20 percent fall in the overall market since peaking in May. On Friday the prices of 6 securities advanced, 10 declined and 8 remained unchanged.
The market gained 30.1 percent for 2017 on May 24, this year, but is now just ahead of the December close by a mere 3.7 percent with Friday’s fall. A major contributor to the decline from the peak is the fall in the prices of Lasco Distributors that is heavily weighted in the index along with Lasco Manufacturing. Lasco Distributors traded at $7.20 in late May and is now at $4.40 with the award for their case against Pfizer coming in far below what the market expected and Manufacturing at $5.20 and is now at $3.50, with sales and profit stagnated. The fall has been mollified by gains in newly listed Express Catering and Stationery and Office Supplies.
The number of Junior Market securities trading on Friday, jumped to 24, from just 13 changing hands on Thursday, resulting in an exchange of 1,300,855 units valued at $5,472,573 compared to 1,784,331 units valued at $8,037,129 on Thursday.
Trading ended with an average of 54,202 units for an average of $228,024 in contrast to 137,256 units for an average of $618,241 on Thursday. In contrast, November closed with average of 107,477 units valued at $545,989 for each security traded.

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday with the market Index jumping by 62.85 points to close at 3,066.53 arising from the prices of 4 securities advancing, 9 declining while 5 remained unchanged.
Market activities closed with 18 securities changing hands, up from 17 on Tuesday resulting in an exchange of 726,097 units valued at $5,040,854 compared to 1,885,937 units valued at $9,218,166 from 17 securities changing hands.

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Friday with 19 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 1,034,761 units valued at $4,990,857 compared to 15,114,679 units valued at $63,009,289 on Thursday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 4 securities advanced, 9 declined and 5 remained unchanged. The Junior Market Index declined by a mere 3.40 points to close at 2,997.26.
Trading ended with an average of 54,461 units for an average of $262,677 in contrast to 795,509 units for an average of $3,316,278 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 121,656 units valued $578,945 and previously an average of 127,044 units valued at $604,299. In contrast, October closed with an average of 74,690 units valued at $362,548, for each security traded.
