JSE Main Market recovers some lost grounds

Traders held off trading on Wednesday, as prices of several stocks rose appreciably as they left the volume of shares trading to fall 35 percent less than on Tuesday, with the value dropping 40 percent at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as rising stocks were edged out by those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index popped 2,785.64 points to 441,162.35, the JSE Main Index rallied 2,394.62 points to end at 398,792.32 and the JSE Financial Index increased 0.70 points to settle at 98.04.
A total of 54 securities traded versus 55 on Tuesday, with 16 rising, 18 declining and 20 ending unchanged.

Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 2.26 million shares for 41.5 percent of total volume, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 903,992 units for 16.6 percent of the day’s trade and Ciboney Group with 438,378 units for 8 percent market share.
Trading averaged 100,923 units at $497,100, against 153,546 shares at $819,770 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 141,026 units at $1,001,827, compared to 160,536 units at $1,247,370 previously traded. December closed with an average of 479,143 units at $6,686,322.

At the close, Barita Investments spiked $3.87 to close at $96.87 in an exchange of 5,145 shares, Caribbean Cement popped 89 cents to $72.99 trading 52,388 units, Eppley climbed 50 cents to $36 after 970 stocks crossed the exchange. Guardian Holdings advanced $1.50 to end at $525 in exchanging 3,089 stock units, Jamaica Broilers declined 97 cents in closing at $29, with 3,174 shares clearing the market, Jamaica Producers dropped 50 cents in ending at $22.50 after trading 7,883 stocks. Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 50 cents to close at $17 with the swapping of 28,789 units, JMMB Group fell 38 cents to end at $39 with 20,280 stock units changing hands, Mayberry Jamaican Equities shed 35 cents to $9 trading 9,677 shares. NCB Financial rallied $3.49 in closing at $128.49 after exchanging 8,481 stock units, Palace Amusement gained $20 to end at $995 while 26 units changed hands, Sagicor Group climbed $1 to $54 in switching ownership of 9,100 stocks. Salada Foods lost 41 cents in closing at $6.57, with 12,580 units crossing the market, Scotia Group climbed 49 cents to close at $35.49 exchanging 16,850 shares, Seprod shed $3.30 to $62.10 12,582 after stock units crossed the market. Sygnus Real Estate Finance fell $2.48 to end at $15.52 after trading 500 stocks and Wisynco Group declined 45 cents to close at $17.35 with an exchange of 57,334 stock units.
In the preference segmentJMMB Group 7.25% lost 69 cents in closing at $2.62 in an exchange of 500 shares.

Correction for JSE Main Market

Market activity on Tuesday, ended with the volume of shares trading declining as the value of stocks changing hands dropped 52 percent lower than Monday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market and ended with declining stocks exceeding those that rose.
The All Jamaican Composite Index plunged 5,072.14 points to close at 438,376.71, the JSE Main Index dived 3,923.09 points to end at 396,397.70 and the JSE Financial Index declined 1.00 points to settle at 97.34.
Trading ended with 55 securities compared to 56 on Monday, with 18 rising, 21 declining and 16 ending unchanged.

Major gains for JSE Indices

In another bullish trading session market activity ended on Monday, with the volume of shares trading declining 81 percent with the value plunging 91 percent lower than on Friday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as the market started trading in the New Year on a somewhat bullish note, with a big surge in the main market indices. 
The All Jamaican Composite Index spiked 5,120.48 points higher to 443,448.85, the JSE Main Index surged 4,165.18 points to 400,320.79 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.29 points to settle at 98.34. A total of 56 securities traded, up from 51 on Friday, with 19 rising, 29 declining and eight ending unchanged.

Investors kept up the robust activity when trading ended on Friday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, with the volume of shares trading declining 43 percent and the value 50 percent lower than at the close on Thursday, with a healthy 49,011,312 shares changing hands for $1,058,239,253 down from 85,891,988 units at $2,099,498,233 leading to rising stocks beating out those declining two to one.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 4,131.53 points to 438,328.37, up 1.1 percent for the year. The JSE Main Index dropped 3,119.89 points to 396,155.61 and ended the year with a marginal increase of 0.1 percent and the JSE Financial Index declined 1.03 points to settle at 98.05, down 4 percent for the year.
Similar to Thursday, 51 securities traded, with 28 rising, 14 declining and nine ending unchanged.

Surge in trading for JSE Main Market

Trading surged at the close of market activity on Thursday, with the volume of shares trading rising 1,202 percent and the value jumping 2,297 percent higher than Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, even as rising stocks was half as much as those declining.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 2,495.30 points to end at 442,459.90, the JSE Main Index rose 2,173.27 points to 399,275.50 and the JSE Financial Index added 1.19 points to settle at 99.08. Huge bounce for JSE Main Market

NCB Financial price jumped $3 at the close of market activity on Wednesday and helped with rising stocks more than doubling those declining in sparking a spirited rally and sending the All Jamaican Composite Index up a healthy 8,093.27 points to close at 439,964.60 and pushed the JSE Main Index up by a substantial 6,970.65 points to 397,102.23 at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The JSE Financial Index advanced 2.29 points to settle at 97.89.
Trading ended with 55 securities up from 54 on Tuesday, with 34 rising, 15 declining and six ending unchanged, with the volume of shares trading rising 63 percent more and the value 34 percent higher more than on Tuesday.

Santa rally for JSE Main Market on Tuesday

Market activity ended on Tuesday, with the volume of shares trading declining 71 percent less and the value plunged 68 percent lower than Friday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as rising stocks exceeded those declining and sent the market indices substantially higher by the close.
The All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 3,803.79 points to 431,871.33, the JSE Main Index spiked 3,178.62 points to close at 390,131.58 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.12 points to settle at 95.60.
Trading ended with 54 securities up from 51 on Friday, with 25 rising, 21 declining and eight closed unchanged.

Winning stocks beat losers 3 to 1 on Friday

Market activity ended on Friday, with the volume of shares trading rising after trading a marginally higher percent, with the value jumping 230 percent higher than on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as rising stocks tripled those declining.
Measured by the market indices, stocks in the Main Market closed moderately lower than at the end of the previous week. The All Jamaican Composite Index popped 649.16 points on Friday to 428,067.54, the JSE Main Index advanced 512.58 points to settle at 386,952.96 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.68 points to end at 95.48.
A total of 51 securities traded compared to 50 on Thursday, with 30 rising, ten declining and 11  were unchanged.

Market activity ended on Thursday, with the volume of shares traded rising 284 percent and the value 23 percent lower than on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as rising stocks exceeded those declining on a 5 to 3 ratio.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 777.15 points to 427,418.38, the JSE Main Index rose 741.92 points to 386,440.38 and the JSE Financial Index rallied 0.14 points to 94.80. Fifty securities traded, versus 51 on Wednesday, with 25 rising, 15 declining and ten left unchanged.

Trading down on JSE Main Market

Market activity pulled back on Wednesday, with the volume of shares trading declining 56 percent and the value down 61 percent from trading on Tuesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, leaving rising stocks falling well short of those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 382.47 points to 426,641.23, the Main Index shed 676.11 points to end at 385,698.46 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.24 points to settle at 94.66.
Trading ended with 51 securities compared to 52 on Tuesday, with 16 rising, 22 declining, with 13 unchanged.
