A large number of rising stocks beat out a solid bunch of declining ones, clearing the market, with 85 percent of shares trading recording price changes at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday. Trading ended with 27 securities changing hands, up from 21 on Friday and ending with prices of 13 rising, 10 declining and four ending firm. Trading closed with a 59 percent drop in volume at a 28 percent lower value than on Friday.
The market closed following an exchange of 284,160 shares for $6,279,738, down from 688,737 stock units at $8,731,901 on Friday.
An average of 10,524 shares were traded at $232,583, well below 32,797 units at $415,805 on Friday, with trading month to date averaging 15,208 shares at $187,099, compared with 16,789 units at $171,760 on the previous day and an average for August of 16,054 shares at $137,863.
The Composite Index declined 1.85 points to 1,019.33, the All T&T Index fell 4.43 points to end trading at 1,445.50, the SME Index skidded 0.01 points to finish at 66.37 and the Cross-Listed Index popped 0.14 points to 78.95.

At the close, Agostini fell $1 to $50 after an exchange of 1,051 units, Angostura Holdings slipped 17 cents and ended at $10.50, with 261 shares changing hands, Ansa McAl remained at $47 after an exchange of 32 shares. Ansa Merchant Bank popped 3 cents and ended at $82.53 following an exchange of 167 shares, AS Bryden lost 11 cents to end at $1.39 after a transfer of 13,388 shares, CIBC Caribbean Bank ended at $7.55 after the swapping of 25,787 stock units.
Endeavour Holdings gained 25 cents in closing at $13, with an exchange of 12 units, Eric Solis Marketing dipped 1 cent to close at $4.16 after trading of 1,010 stock units, First Citizens Group rose 97 cents in closing at $40.99 with an exchange of 1,756 shares. GraceKennedy closed at $4.15, following trading of 1,026 stocks, Guardian Holdings rose 19 cents to finish at $16.19 as investors exchanged 8,389 stocks, JMMB Group rallied 4 cents to 88 cents with a transfer of 32,476 units. L.J. Williams B share shed 2 cents to land at a 52 weeks low of 66 cents with investors dealing in 3,801 stocks, Massy Holdings declined 1 cent and ended at a 52 weeks low of $3.35 in an exchange of 1,700 units, Medcorp jumped $4.80 to finish at $36.80 with investors trading 50 shares. National Enterprises dipped 5 cents in closing at $4.50 in switching ownership of 36,998 stock units, National Flour Mills climbed 15 cents to end at $1.75, after 15,691 shares crossed the market, NCB Financial increased by just 1 cent to close at $3.31 in trading 16,099 stock units. One Caribbean Media climbed 3 cents to a 52 weeks high of $1.68, after 7,431 stocks passed through the market, Point Lisas ended at $7.25, with 3,035 units crossing the exchange, Prestige Holdings skidded 2 cents and ended at $11.98 after closing with an exchange of 20 shares.
Republic Financial rose 1 cent to end at $112, with 12,350 units crossing the market, Scotiabank gained 50 cents in closing at $48.50, with investors exchanging 80,456 stocks, Trinidad & Tobago NGL lost 3 cents to close at $10.52 with 18,994 stock units clearing the market. Trinidad Cement gained 14 cents in closing at $1.99 after and exchange of a mere 20 shares, Unilever Caribbean fell 1 cent to close at $15 after 1,142 stock units passed through the market and West Indian Tobacco advanced 2 cents and ended at $4.20 in an exchange of 1,018 units.
