Junior Market trading plunges

Trading plunged on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with a 69 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded with a 65 percent lower value than Thursday resulting from trading in 44 securities similar to Thursday and ending with prices of 13 rising, 17 declining and 14 closing unchanged.
The market closed with trading of 2,465,676 shares for $4,887,449 down sharply from 7,896,564 stock units at $14,084,953 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 56,038 shares at $111,078 compared with 179,467 units at $320,113 on Thursday, with trading for the month to date, averaging 175,817 stocks at $403,392 compared with 190,747 shares at $439,827 on the previous day and September that closed with an average of 419,421 units at $774,292.
JFP Ltd led trading with 578,834 shares for 23.5 percent of total volume followed by Lumber Depot with 332,517 units for 13.5 percent of the day’s trade and Jamaican Teas with 156,696 stock units for 6.4 percent market share.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index advanced just 4.50 points to 3,725.93.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 12, based on last traded prices in conjunction with earnings projected by ICInsider.com for financial years ending around August 2025.
The market closed with a negative undertone with the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator showing five stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and seven with lower offers.
At the close, Access Financial popped $2.59 to finish at $20.89 in an exchange of a mere 70 stocks, Blue Power lost 20 cents and ended at $4 with investors trading 14,818 units, CAC 2000 dropped 19 cents to $2.08 after an exchange of 2,000 shares. Cargo Handlers sank 8 cents to close at $11.90 in trading 56 stock units, Dolla Financial slipped 8 cents in closing at $3.31 after an exchange of 126,410 shares, Dolphin Cove fell 50 cents to end at $21 in trading 5,753 units. Everything Fresh skidded 19 cents to close at $2.21 in switching ownership of 800 stocks, GWest Corporation climbed 8 cents to end at 98 cents, with 1,057 stock units crossing the exchange, Jamaican Teas sank 13 cents in closing at $2.24 after a transfer of 156,696 shares. Knutsford Express rose 94 cents to finish at $12.55 as investors exchanged 1,003 units, Mailpac Group dipped 7 cents and ended at $2.40 after 73,293 stocks passed through the market and Tropical Battery rallied 10 cents to close at $2.60 with an exchange of 96,934 stock units.
