Jump in activities on Trinidad Exchange

Investors pumped more funds into the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, but the volume of stocks traded declined 29 percent, with the value 11 percent more than on Tuesday resulting from trading in 18 securities down from 22 on Tuesday, with six stocks rising, one declining and 11 remaining unchanged, with the heavily weighted Republic Financial jumping $2.88 to push the market indices much higher at the close.
Investors traded 1,043,504 shares for $10,036,140 versus 1,477,165 stock units at $9,077,584 on Tuesday. An average of 57,972 units were traded at $557,563 compared with 67,144 shares at $412,617 on Tuesday, with trading month to date averaging 45,606 shares at $461,803 versus 44,759 units at $455,249 on the previous day. The average trade for November amounts to 51,348 at $461,794.
The Composite Index climbed 17.83 points to 1,329.49, the All T&T Index jumped 24.00 points to 1,999.32 and the Cross-Listed Index advanced 1.57 points to settle at 85.76.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows four stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
At the close, Agostini’s remained at $50 after 5,000 shares were traded, Angostura Holdings ended at $24 in an exchange of 118 stock units, Ansa McAl remained at $51.40 with the swapping of 513 units. Ansa Merchant Bank ended at $42.50 after 1,500 stocks passed through the market, Clico Investment Fund popped 5 cents to close at $26.80 with 59,532 stock units changing hands, First Citizens Group rose 95 cents to close at $51 with an exchange of 4,175 units. FirstCaribbean International Bank rallied 60 cents to end at $5.70 after exchanging 44,577 stocks, GraceKennedy remained at $4.50, with 477 shares changing hands, Guardian Holdings ended at $26.99, with 10,584 stocks crossing the exchange. Massy Holdings remained at $4.50 in an exchange of 818,196 shares, National Enterprises gained 14 cents after ending at $3.40 with a transfer of 50,000 stock units, National Flour Mills ended at $1.50 as investors exchanged 1,046 units. NCB Financial remained at $4.56 in trading 14,947 units, Republic Financial popped $2.88 in closing at $140 while exchanging 20,206 stocks, Scotiabank ended at $77.90 with investors transferring 6,136 stock units. Trinidad & Tobago NGL dipped 10 cents to $22.33 after trading 1,875 shares, Unilever Caribbean rallied 4 cents to close at $12.89, with 70 stocks crossing the market and West Indian Tobacco ended at $22 with an exchange of 4,552 stock units.
