The number of securities trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday dropped sharply from Tuesday’s levels, leading to the market indices losing more grounds.
Market activity ended with 12 securities changing hands against 21 on Tuesday, of which, 2 advanced, 2 declined and 8 remained unchanged. Trading ended with 171,947 shares at a value of $1,334,483 compared to 564,264 shares at a value of $2,594,783, on Tuesday.
At the close of trading, the Composite Index lost 1.79 points to 1,396.03. The All T&T Index shed 1.87 points to 1,776.81, while the Cross Listed Index declined 0.23 points to close at 137.43.
IC bid-offer Indicator|The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with one stock closing with the bid higher than the last selling price and 5 with lower offers.
Gains| Clico Investment Fund concluded trading and rose 1 cent to complete trading at $24.10, with 4,696 units crossing the exchange and First Caribbean International Bank added 1 cent and closed at $8.35 with 51,700 units changing hands.
Losses| Guardian Media shares fell 25 cents and ended at a 52 weeks’ low of $10.50, with investors exchanging 300 shares and West Indian Tobacco closed with a loss of 19 cents and completed trading 606 units at $110.
Firm Traded| Ansa Mcal concluded market activity at $55.20, after exchanging 1,179 shares, First Citizens Bank ended at $39.75, with 80 stock units trading, Grace Kennedy completed trading at $3.55, after exchanging 11,349 shares, Guardian Holdings settled at $18.30, with 21,430 stock units trading, JMMB Group completed trading at $2.25, with an exchange of 28,285 stock units. Massy Holdings closed at $54.98, with 151 units crossing the exchange, Sagicor Financial closed at $10.11, with 2,721 stock units changing hands and Trinidad Cement ended at $2.45, after exchanging 49,450 shares.
