Majors pull back for first time in 2017

Prices of stocks, on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, pulled sharply on Thursday, as the market closed with 42 securities changing hands of which 15 gained while 15 declined in the overall market, including 7 stocks rising and 5 falling, in the junior market.
At the close the All Jamaica Composite Index fell sharply 2,014.74 points, to close at 210,401.76. The JSE Market Index dropped 1,801.53 points to finish at 192,511.16. The JSE combined index pulled back 1,327.76 points to close at 205,435.54.
At the close with 2,993,596 units valued at $27,027,397 changed hands, compared to 3,784,854 units valued at $25,405,860 changing hands on Thursday. Of the stocks traded, the junior market accounted for 2,710,965 units changing hands, valued at $12,580,140.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 84,869 shares compared to an average of 70,171 units traded on Wednesday. The average for the month to date is 132,234 units and December ended with an average of 549,379 units.

Jamaican stocks push higher Wednesday

Prices of stocks, moved mostly higher on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, to close at an all-time high on Wednesday, but with more modest gains in the indices than for the two previous trading days.
At the close the All Jamaica Composite Index gained 204.60 points, to close at 212,416.50. The JSE Market Index climbed 182.94 points to finish at 194,312.69.
The JSE combined index rose 211.15 points to close at 206,763.30.
Market activity ended with 36 securities changing hands. At the close, the prices of 13 stocks gained while 15 declined in the overall market, including 7 stocks rising and 5 falling, in the junior market.
At the close with 3,784,854 units valued at $25,405,860 changed hands, compared to 7,231,425 units valued at $86,467,161 changing hands on Thursday. Of the stocks traded, the junior market accounted for 2,710,965 units changing hands, valued at $12,580,140.

All Jamaica breaks 210,000

Bulls pushing Jamaican stock to new highs.

The Jamaica all Jamaica composite index breaks the 210,000 mark during the morning session of trading on the final trading day of 2016.
The all important index that measures the movement of all Jamaican stocks listed on the main market, rose 4,178.53 to 210,557.50 prior to midday, to be up 25.8 percent for the year.
At these levels, the market has just broken the resistance levels around 210,000 points mark and suggest that it could climb much higher in the days ahead if it holds around the current level at the end of trading today.

The All Jamaica Composite Index fell 371.99 points, to close at 206,378.97. The JSE Market Index declined 332.62 points to finish at 188,914.07. The JSE combined index shed 89.56 points to close at 201,853.60.

Trading rose on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday with increased volumes and value but prices mostly fell back as the indices pulled back from the record close on Tuesday.
The All Jamaica Composite Index closed with a fall of 205.12 points at 202,977.90 to be up by 21 percent for the year to date. The JSE Market Index dropped 183.41 points to finish at 185,872.90. The JSE combined index declined by 351.05 points to close at 198,359.79, with gain for the year to date, of 25 percent.
Market activity ended with 40 securities changing hands, at the close, the prices of 10 stocks gained while 17 declined in the overall market, including 3 stocks rising and 4 falling, in the junior market.
At the close with 29,273,598 units valued at $1,131,638,942 changed hands, compared to 22,971,772 units valued at $146,022,777 changing hands on Tuesday. Of the stocks traded, the junior market accounted for 332,445 units changing hands, valued at $1,568,652.

Jamaica Broilers closed at $14.50 with 9,583 shares changing hands, after falling 41 cents, Jamaica Producers lost 71 cents to end at $8.50 with 949,034 units trading, Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 999 shares, to end at $5.59 after falling by a cent, JMMB Group traded 11,569 shares and gained 47 cents to close at $14.48. Kingston Wharves ended trading 27,322 shares to close at $19.40 after slipping 20 cents, Mayberry Investments ended trading with 22,609 shares, to close with a rise of 70 cents at $5.50, National Commercial Bank ended at $49 with 17,096,730 shares changing hands, PANJAM Investment traded 1,173,845 shares but fell 5 cents to close at $27.45. Radio Jamaica lost 12 cents to close at $1.08 with 34,484 shares trading.
