Trading rose on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday with increased volume but the value fell. Prices mostly fell, pulling the indices back from the record close on Monday.
The All Jamaica Composite Index closed with a fall of 1,065.07 points, to close at 203,183.02 to be up by 21 percent for the year to date. The JSE Market Index dropped 952.36 points to finish at 186,056.31. The JSE combined index declined by 647.20 points to close at 198,710.84, with gain for the year to date, of 26 percent.
Market activity ended with 43 securities changing hands. At the close, the prices of 12 stocks gained while 20 declined in the overall market, including 4 stocks rising and 8 falling, in the junior market.
Supreme Ventures was by far the leading trade with 9,605,483 units with a value of $47.69 million to end unchanged at $5.
The market ended with 22,971,772 units valued at $146,022,777 changed hands, compared to 15,872,231 units valued at $373,022,747 changing hands on Monday. Of the stocks traded, the junior market accounted for 4,752,058 units changing hands, valued at $32,819,600.

Jamaican stocks break the 205,000 mark

JSE inx 19-12-16 The All Jamaica Composite Index surged sharply by more than 3,100 points shortly before the close of trading on Monday to a new intraday high of 205,169.41, but closed with a gain of 2,311.21 points, to end at a new record close of 204,248.09 to be up by 22 percent for the year to date.
The JSE Market Index jumped 2,066.63 points to finish at a record 187,008.67. The JSE combined index ballooned by 3,136.04 points to first time to end at close above the 200,000 points level for the first time to a record 200,132.17 but closed trading up 2,361.91 points to a record close of 199,358.04, with gain for the year to date, of 26 percent.
Market activity ended with 36 securities changing hands, at the close, the prices of 20 stocks gained while 7 declined in the overall market, including 9 stocks rising and 2 falling, in the junior market.
Grace Kennedy was by far the leading trade with 7,715,941 units with a value of $877.98 million to end at $40, after falling 99 cents.

The record run was aided by 35 securities changing hands, with the prices of 15 stocks ending with gains while 15 declined in the overall market, including 5 stocks rising and 6 falling, in the junior market.
At the close the All Jamaica Composite Index declined 110.38 points to end at 200,656.56, the index recorded gains of 19.9 percent for the year to date. The JSE Market Index fell 98.70 points to finish at 183,484.76. The JSE combined index lost 20.90 points to end at 195,315.17, with a gain for the year to date of 23.4 percent.

At the close the All Jamaica Composite Index climbed 348.14 points to end at closing all-time high of 200,766.94, the index recorded gains of 19.8 percent for the year to date. The JSE Market Index jumped 311.30 points to finish at a record closing high of 183,583.46. The JSE combined index rose 234.36 points to end at another record closing high of 195,336.07, with a gain for the year to date of 23.3 percent.
At the close with 4,365,700 units valued at $35,619,605 changed hands, compared to 4,940,335 units valued at $62,341,444 changing hands on Wednesday. The junior market accounted for 587,579 units changing hands, valued at $2,311,947 of the stocks traded.

The JSE combined index rose 1,072.23 points to end at another record closing high of 195,101.71, with a gain for the year to date of 22.6 percent.
At the close with 4,940,335 units valued at $62,341,444 changed hands, compared to 6,289,353 units valued at $38,568,115 changing hands on Tuesday. The junior market accounted for 407,847 units changing hands, valued at $1,834,253 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 174,326 shares compared to an average of 106,627 units traded on Tuesday with the average for the month to date being 206,111 units compared to 237,896 units for the month up to Tuesday. November ended with an average of 208,466 units.

Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 73,935 shares, to end with a rise of 7 cents at $5.47, JMMB Group rose 15 cents in trading 41,507 shares to close at $13.80, Margaritaville Turks fell 1 cent with 956,505 shares trading, to close at 22.1 US cents. Scotia Investments fall 90 cents with 3,000 units changing hands, to close at $33, Seprod jumped 75 cents to end at $29.75 with 100 shares being swapped by investors, Supreme Ventures lost 10 cents and ended at $4.70 with 39,275 units changing hands. Proven Investments traded 45,332 shares at 18.6 US cents and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share and closed with 584,634 units changing hands at $2.11, after gaining 4 cents.
