Sharp Junior Market rebound – Tuesday

Stocks jumped 94.40 points to close at 2,888.22 after rising and declining stocks matched each other in trading on Tuesday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange as investors exchanged 91 percent fewer shares than on Monday.

Junior Market making a strong recovery from 2020 plunge.

Trading ended with 39 securities versus 38 on Monday with 16 rising, 16 declining and seven closing unchanged.
The average PE Ratio ended at 15.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading accounts for 6,496,040 shares for $19,574,623 down from 74,563,869 units at $122,016,255 on Monday. Jamaican Teas led trading with 21 percent of total volume for 1.36 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot 16.5 percent with 1.07 million units and Mailpac Group with 15.2 percent after a transfer of 987,293 units. Trading averaged 166,565 units at $501,913 down from 1,962,207 at $3,210,954 on Monday. The month to date averaged 431,459 units at $1,026,262, compared to 457,286 units at $1,077,386 on Monday. January closed with an average of 232,651 units at $569,885.

Near 100 points plunge for Junior Market

The Junior Market Index declined 20.33 points to settle at 2,793.82, but plunged nearly 100 points during the day, with the market jumping sharply after just 20 minutes of trading to 2,886.96 points as investors pushed Lasco Distributors to a new 52 weeks’ high at $3.88 and Lasco Manufacturing to $4.95 with a few others chipping in.
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market on Monday pushed the total volume of shares exchanged up 585 percent with a value 215 percent more than on Friday. Market activity resulted in 74,563,869 units trading for $122,016,255 compared to 10,871,142 units at $38,718,293 on Friday as 38 securities changed hands, up from 36 on Friday with prices of 16 rising, 14 declining and eight closing unchanged. Three stocks traded at 52 weeks’ highs during the day but only two ended at closing highs.
Paramount Trading dominated the market controlling 81 percent of the volume after 60.50 million shares changed hands followed by Mailpac Group with 7.7 percent for 5.74 million units, Lumber Depot with 3.3 percent trading 2.43 million units, Jamaican Teas with 1.8 percent for 1.35 million units and Tropical Battery with 1.4 percent of the day’s trade for 1.07 million units.
Trading averaged 1,962,207 units at $3,210,954 up from 301,976 at $1,075,508 on Friday. Trading month to date averages 457,286 units at $1,077,386, up on 299,311 units at $853,420 on Friday. Trading in January averaged 232,651 units at $569,885.

Jamaican Teas gained 10 cents to a record closing high of $3.37 after hitting an intraday high of $3.54, with 1,348,424 units crossing the market. Lasco Financial gained 9 cents in closing at $2.69, after exchanging 44,500 shares. Lasco Manufacturing fell 72 cents to $4.26 after trading as high as $4.95 with 217,306 stock units changing hands; the stock closed with the bid at $4.89, Limners and Bards lost 7 cents to end at $2.48, with 224,829 stocks crossing the market. Lumber Depot rose 40 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $2.50, after the swapping of 2,434,406 units and trading as at a record high of $2.65 before the close. Mailpac Group shed 47 cents to end at $3.49, with an exchange of 5,737,107 shares, as investors reacted negatively to the release of full-year earnings of 18 cents per share, driving the stock to $3.10 during the trading session. Medical Disposables rose 46 cents to $4.46 trading 1,000 stocks, Paramount Trading lost 15 cents and ended at $1.30, in exchanging 60,499,360 shares and tTech lost 59 cents to settle at $4.11, with investors switching ownership of 10,000 units.

More gains for Junior Market

Rising stocks dominated trading on Friday and allowing Junior Market stocks to hold on to modest gains in the market index for a second consecutive day, with 53 percent of the stocks traded rising after an exchange of 75 percent more shares than on Thursday and values 135 percent higher.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands, up from 34 on Thursday and closed with the prices of 19 stocks rising, 11 declining and six ending unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index eked out a 7.52 points gain to close at 2,814.15, to be up 7.5 percent up for the year to date. The average PE Ratio ended at 14.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 10,871,142 shares for $38,718,293 up sharply from 6,203,871 units at $16,459,757 on Thursday. Jamaican Teas led trading with 23 percent of total volume, after 2.51 million shares changed hands followed by Lasco Distributors with 21.5 percent of the day’s trade for 2.34 million units and Lasco Manufacturing with 17.2 percent market share for 1.87 million units.

Stocks lost upward momentum on Wednesday dropping 20.92 points to settle just above the 2,800 mark at 2,800.57 after hitting an intraday high of 2860.54 points within three minutes of the Junior Market’s opening as the market ended with declining stocks dominated rising ones.
Trading ended with 39 securities changing hands compared to 35 on Tuesday and closed with falling stocks far outnumbering rising ones as prices of seven stocks rising, 22 declined and 10 remained unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 14.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

The Junior Market index gained 17.73 points on Monday to close at 2,814.70 and is now up 6.5 percent for the year to date after the index traded over the 2,840 points level in the early morning session and closed with 72 percent more shares were exchanged than on Friday and values up 68 percent.
Trading ended with 37 active securities, down from 38 on Friday and closed with 19 stocks rising, 14 declining and four remaining unchanged.

Stocks moved higher at the close of trading with the Junior Market Index advancing 20.25 points to 2,796.97 on Friday to be up 5.8 percent for the year so far after more stocks rose than declined following a 69 percent decline in the volume of shares passing through the exchange with 97 percent drop in value compared with Thursday.

Huge jump in Junior Market trading

The volume of stocks surged on Thursday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with volume climbing 321 percent higher than on Wednesday pushing the value up 338 percent as five securities traded over one million units.
Trading ended with 23,334,216 shares for $62,643,592 changing hands up from 5,538,712 units at $14,281,993 on Wednesday. Knutsford Express dipped 45 cents to $6.30 trading 1,765 units, Lasco Distributors fell 10 cents to $3.25, in an exchange of 5,001 stocks, Lasco Manufacturing rose 32 cents to $4.20, after 279,289 stock units crossed the market. Limners and Bards slipped 15 cents to end at $2.55, with 10,790,026 stocks changing hands, Main Event settled at $3.49, with gains of 19 cents trading 59,352 shares, Medical Disposables finished 21 cents higher at $4.20 in exchanging 100 stocks and tTech gained 29 cents to close at $4.85, with investors swapping 10,005 stock units.

Early morning trading sent the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market index racing to 2,800.39 points, but the market pulled back to close above Tuesday’s close at the end of market activity on Wednesday with the trading of 64 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday.
Trading ended with 39 securities, up from 34 on Tuesday and closed with 11 rising, 18 declining and 10 remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index gained 19.94 points to settle at 2,764.95. The average PE Ratio ended at 14.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
A total of 5,538,712 shares traded for $14,281,993 well down from 15,516,613 units at $36,243,327 on Tuesday.
Jamaican Teas controlled 30.9 percent of total volume with an exchange of 1.71 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot with 12.9 percent for 715,010 units and Mailpac Group with 10.3 percent market share with an exchange of 569,898.

Express Catering dropped 24 cents to $3.50 with a transfer of 46,111 shares, Fosrich lost 10 cents to finish at $4.40 with the trading of 12,514 stocks, General Accident advanced 15 cents to $6.15 with 400 stock units changing hands, Honey Bun fell  35 cents to $5.50 with 55,967 units passing through the market. Jamaican Teas exchanged 1,712,909 stock units and lost 19 cents to close at $2.80, Knutsford Express jumped 45 cents to $6.75 with 843 units changing hands, Lasco Distributors lost 4 cents to close at $3.35 with 300 stock units traded. Lasco Financial fell 10 cents to $2.60 in trading 375,036 shares, Lasco Manufacturing gained 17 cents to $3.88 with 93,150 units passing through the market. Main Event climbed 18 cents to $3.30 with a transfer of 171,000 units, Medical Disposables dropped 21 cents to $3.99 with 25,194 stocks passing through the market and tTech advanced 16 cents to $4.56 with 5,377 units changing hands.
