Grace trade 27.9m shares
Grace Kennedy traded 27.9 million shares valued at $1,161,862,567 but Scotia Group’s traded at earlier $32.40 helping to move the main market indices upwards. Scotia eventually fell back from the mornings high by mid-morning.
The junior market rose moderately, Jetcon Corporation rose 10 cents to a new high of $4.10 with 4,300 units trading and Lasco Distributors traded 3,734,752 units at $7.05. In the main market, Cable & Wireless traded 513,700 shares at 80 cents, National Commercial Bank traded 309,258 units at $40 and Scotia Group traded 190,191 units and fell back $1.45 to $30.06.

Scotia pushed JSE main market
A big 47 percent jump in Scotia Group’s third quarter profits motivated investors to push the stock up by $1 to $31.50 and the main market all Jamaica index up by more than 1,600 points in the morning session, even as the overall volumes traded so far is light.
The junior market rose moderately with two stocks traded at new highs in the morning session, as Jetcon Corporation rose 70 cents to $4 with 20,000 units trading and while 2,000 units traded for Paramount Trading at $17.50 for a gain of $2.45. Caribbean Cream that has come in for increased buying traded above Wednesday’s closing high to $9 with 10,000 shares.

2 new highs for junior market
The junior market rose moderately but three stocks traded at new highs in the morning session as Caribbean Cream hit $10.20 in trading just 4,823 shares and Blue Power traded at $21. tTech traded up to $6 with 48,521 unit. The advance decline ratio was positive at more than 2 to 1.
At 11:45 am 38 securities traded, resulting in a volume of just 3,624,650 shares carrying a value of $18.2 million changing hands compared to 2,159,587 shares carrying a value of approximately $2.16 million on Tuesday. The average number of shares traded amounts to only The 95,386 units compared to 79,985 units on Tuesday. The number of stocks falling are 8 while the prices of 18 securities rose as the market continues to consolidate.
138 Student Living traded 641,007 units and gained 20 cents to $4.70 and Lasco Financial Services trades 1,266,578 shares but fell down to $3.10 from $3.45 at the close on Tuesday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index gained 102.03 points to 177,425.60, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index climbed 91.24 points to 159,691.81, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index rose 270.06 points to close at 171,561.63 and the junior market index rose 18.06 points to 2,284.16.
Cargo Handlers at new high
Cargo Handlers traded at a new high of $86.10 on the junior market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange in early Monday trading but with only 200 shares changing hands. Trading volume in the overall markets has been light with the highest volume traded being Pan Jamaican Investment with 38,032 units at $24.
The junior market index rose a bit with only a few securities trading in that market but the main market indices declined.
In trading Cable & Wireless after trading as low as 75 cents on Friday found some support to trade a small volume at 80 cents and now has a bid to buy at 76 cents. Scotia Group traded up by 95 cents to trade at 28,000 units at $30.

JSE main market climbs in early trading
The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market enjoyed strong gains in the indices in early Friday morning trading but with only limited volume changing hands in the overall markets. The junior market index slipped a bit with only a few securities trading in that market.
Trading of note so far took place for 106,580 Cable & Wireless shares with 181,615 shares in 1834 Investments changing hands while 59,745 shares of Grace Kennedy traded and JMMB Group had 275,597 units trading at $9.88 in the main market and in the junior market the stocks with the leading volumes traded are C2W Music with 40,000 units and Eppley Preference Shares 2019 had 50,000 units changing hands.

Juniors dominate early trading
The junior enjoyed quite brisk trading on Jamaica Stock Exchange early Thursday driving the junior market index up by 44.65 points with 4 junior market companies having more than 100,000 units trading, with Lasco Manufacturing having 854,813 units changing hands. C2W music saw the price recovering to 20 cents from 17 cents with 210,000 shares trading.
Cable & Wireless was the only main market stock to see high volume as the stock had 3,153,049 units changing hands at 95 cents while Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 61,600 units at $28.50 and junior market Cargo Handlers hit a new high with 1,500 shares trading at $86.
Other trades of more than 100,000 units are, General Accident Insurance with 104,311 units at $2.30 and Lasco Distributors 485,970 shares at $7. Caribbean Creams ended up with 66,230 unit at $8.

JSE trades down early Wednesday
Trading on Jamaica Stock Exchange early Wednesday is slow with only a few trades of meaningful size as the indices gave up some gains over the past two days.
Meaningful volumes came from penny stocks Cable & Wireless with 113,022 units at $1 and 1834 Investments with 159,400 shares at $1.25 followed by Jamaica Stock Exchange with 55,577 units at $27.15, National Commercial Bank with 401,780 shares at $39.99 and Proven Investments with 389,000 units at US 19.9 cents.
At 10:45 am 23 securities traded, resulting in a volume of 1,182,572 shares carrying a value of $29,395,598 changing hands down from 1,835,382 units on Tuesday. The average number of shares traded amounts to 51,416 units compared to 63,289 units on Tuesday. $29.50 new high for JSE early Tuesday
Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 1,400 at a new high of $29.50 up $2.10, following the high it reached in early trading Monday of $28, Jetcon Corporation traded 399,800 units at $3.20, after rising 30 cents, tTech jumped 50 cents while it traded 503,333 shares at $5 and Cable & Wireless had 524,622 units trading at $1. Gains in prices moved the market indices much higher than at the close on Monday.
At 10:45 am 29 securities traded, including C2W Music that traded at a new all-time low of 17 cents as investors continue to bail out of the stock, following a history of continued poor results and depletion of capital. Trading resulted in a volume of 1,835,382 shares changing hands. The average number of shares traded amounts to 63,289 units compared to 36,243 units on Monday. The number of stocks falling amounts to 5 while the prices of 11 securities rose as the market continues to consolidate with no new major developments or news to move prices in one direction or the other.
