Trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange jumped sharply from Thursday’s low levels at the close on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded surging 1,010 percent and the market value jumping 313 percent compared with Thursday, following activity in 22 securities similar to Thursday and ending with four rising, 12 declining and six firm.
The market closed with trading of 1,235,508 shares for $4,416,245, after rising from just 111,288 stock units at $1,069,442 on Thursday.
An average of 56,159 shares were traded at $200,738 after climbing from just 5,059 units at $48,611 on Thursday. Trading for the month to date averages only 15,428 shares at $89,141, up from 8,534 units at $70,260 on the previous day and less than the average of 73,891 shares at an average of $397,305 for September.
The Composite Index fell 6.48 points to end trading at 1,007.69, the All T&T Index lost 10.33 points to finish at 1,425.80, the SME Index dropped 0.25 points to settle at 73.80 and the Cross-Listed Index declined 0.33 points to 78.53.

At the close of trading, Agostini dipped 48 cents to end at $48 as investors exchanged 115 units, Angostura Holdings remained at $10.40 with 55 stocks clearing the market, Ansa McAl fell $1.90 to $42.50 in an exchange of 250 shares.
Ansa Merchant Bank slipped $3.50 and closed at $25 with 130 shares changing hands, AS Bryden rose 15 cents and ended at $1.50 after an exchange of a mere one share, CIBC Caribbean Bank ended at $8 with 2,552 units crossing the market. CinemaOne fell 37 cents to $2.07 in an exchange of 747 stocks, Endeavour Holdings fell 75 cents to finish at $12.75 with 4,548 stocks crossing the market, First Citizens Group rallied by 91 cents and ended at $39.16 after trading of 229 shares. Guardian Holdings increased 10 cents to $16.60 in trading 512 units, Guardian Media dropped 10 cents in closing at 75 cents with a transfer of 114 stocks, JMMB Group shed 1 cent to close at 84 cents, with investors trading 105,537 stock units. Massy Holdings settled at $3.35 with 742,609 shares passing through the market, National Enterprises popped 6 cents and stopped at $4.62 with investors swapping 327,020 units, National Flour Mills remained at $1.65 with 600 stocks changing hands. NCB Financial declined 1 cent to end at $3 with investors dealing in 25,500 units,
Point Lisas lost 19 cents to finish at $7.31 with just 2 stocks crossing the exchange, Republic Financial skidded 40 cents to close at $114.50 after a transfer of 21 shares. Trinidad & Tobago NGL fell 2 cents to $10 with investors swapping 7,505 stock units, Trinidad Cement finished at $2 with a transfer of 16,033 units, Unilever Caribbean remained at $15.55 with an exchange of 434 stocks and West Indian Tobacco shed 5 cents to end at $3.95 in switching ownership of 994 units.
