The Junior Market bounce


Trading activity closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with a 9 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded and a moderately lower value than on Tuesday. Trading ended with 42 active securities, compared with 44 on Tuesday and ended with prices of 13 rising, 24 declining and five closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 14,049,501 shares for $18,444,219, compared with 12,830,628 units at $18,784,439 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 334,512 shares at $439,148, compared to 291,605 stocks for $426,919 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averages 319,849 units at $443,739, in line with 312,850 stocks at $445,930 on the previous day and higher than July, with an average of 280,479 shares at $401,436.
Woodcats International ended as the leading traded stock with 5.20 million shares for 37 percent of total volume, followed by Omni Industries ending with 1.28 million stocks for 9.1 percent of the day’s trade and Atlantic Hardware with 1.24 million units for 8.9 percent of the stocks trading.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index climbed 39.16 points to finish at 2,925.57. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows nine stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and five with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 11.2. ICInsider.com compiles the PE ratios, which are derived by dividing the last traded price of a stock by the earnings per share for companies with their fiscal year ending around August 2026.
At the close, Access Financial rallied $1.69 in closing at $16.99, with 115 stock units crossing the market, Atlantic Hardware shed 9 cents to $1.16 with investors trading 1,243,560 shares, Blue Power rose 20 cents to close at $3.30 in an exchange of 7,379 units. Cargo Handlers declined 40 cents to finish at $17.05 with investors exchanging 20 stocks, Derrimon Trading fell 5 cents to end at $1 after an exchange of 362,349 shares, Dolla Financial slipped 6 cents to end at $2.90 with a transfer of 439,645 stock units. Dolphin Cove lost 15 cents to end at $10, with 17,645 stocks crossing the exchange, Express Catering dropped 7 cents to end at $1.88 following trading of 7,823 units, Fontana dipped 16 cents in closing at $6.11 after an exchange of 55,069 stocks. GWest Corporation skidded 14 cents to close at 51 cents, with 14 units clearing the market, Image Plus rallied 5 cents to finish at $1.30 with an exchange of 213,086 shares, Indies Pharma popped 5 cents and ended at $2.75, with 946,374 stock units changing hands. ISP Finance fell $1.05 to $7.50 in an exchange of 2 shares, Jamaican Teas climbed 9 cents and ended at $2.17 after trading of 64,749 stocks, Jetcon Corporation increased 9 cents to close at a 52 weeks high of $4.11 in switching ownership of 229,517 units. Knutsford Express advanced 65 cents to finish at $7.25 with investors trading 1,477 stock units, Lumber Depot lost 33 cents to end at $2.35, after 268,342 shares passed through the market, Main Event rose 17 cents in closing at $4.67 after a transfer of 4,560 units. Medical Disposables declined 5 cents to 95 cents as investors exchanged 135,005 stocks, MFS Capital Partners shed 7 cents to finish at 41 cents, with 103,633 stock units crossing the market, Omni Industries dropped 6 cents and ended at 90 cents with investors dealing in 1,279,624 shares. ONE on ONE Educational rallied 7 cents to close at 76 cents after closing with an exchange of 120,079 units, Paramount Trading increased 5 cents to end at 95 cents with a transfer of 661 stocks and Woodcats International skidded 6 cents in closing at 60 cents with investors dealing in 5,195,217 stock units.
