Stocks dive on the JSE on Monday

On a day when Carreras and Scotia Group hit intraday lows of $6.20 and $30.11, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market gave back thousands of points in the main indices on Monday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 34 percent and valued 526 percent more than on Friday after 61 securities were traded compared to 57 on Friday, with 15 rising, 29 declining and 17 ending unchanged and leading to a big surge in the value of stocks traded.
A total of 22,909,155 shares were traded for $1,091,762,298 compared to 17,038,158 units at $174,268,763 on Friday. Trading averages 375,560 units at $17,897,743 versus 298,915 shares at $3,057,347 on Friday and month to date, an average of 765,882 units at $5,638,283, compared to 788,281 units at $4,934,777 on the previous trading day. July closed with an average of 173,643 units at $1,683,017.
GraceKennedy led trading with 10.77 million shares for 47 percent of total volume followed by Transjamaican Highway with 5.68 million units for 24.8 percent of the day’s trade, Wigton Windfarm with 1.63 million units for 7.1 percent market share and Caribbean Producers ended with 1.13 million units for 4.9 percent of the day’s trades.
The All Jamaican Composite Index lost 4,970.96 points to end at407,706.55, the JSE Main Index fell 3,398.45 points to 359,146.76 and the JSE Financial Index shed 1.59 points to close at 85.56.

Guardian Holdings declined $18.99 in closing at $511.01 with a transfer of 57 shares, JMMB Group dipped 51 cents to $40.99 as investors exchanged 29,513 units, Kingston Properties declined 35 cents to close at $7.05 in exchanging 4,555 stock units. Kingston Wharves popped $1.15 to end at $39 after a transfer of 5,323 units, Margaritaville fell $1 to $26.55 in exchanging 58 stocks, Massy Holdings lost $1 to close at $85.50 in trading 3,005 shares. Mayberry Investments dropped 78 cents to end at $9.12 in switching ownership of 535,690 stock units, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy shed $16.49 to $68 after trading 259 units, NCB Financial advanced $1.80 in closing at $92.80 with investors transferring 32,384 stocks. 138 Student Living dipped 75 cents to end at $6.50 with 76,424 shares changing hands, Palace Amusement climbed $11 to close at $711 with the swapping of 123 shares, Portland JSX fell $3 to $9 with an exchange of 95,118 units. Sagicor Group lost $3.49 after ending at $51.01, with 21,517 stocks crossing the market, Salada Foods shed 42 cents in closing at $4.90 with an exchange of 5,446 stock units, Scotia Group declined $1.63 ending at a 52 weeks’ low of $32.38 after exchanging 106,989 units and Stanley Motta dipped 63 cents in closing at $4.66 with investors transferring 34,909 stock units.
In the preference segmentJamaica Public Service 9.5% jumped $450 to close at $3100 after trading 12 stocks.

Rebounding main market

Investors were more aggressive in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Friday, following the commencement of refunding of monies previously tied up in the recent ONEonONE IPO. Buying interest resulted in 97 percent more shares trading with 166 percent higher value than on Thursday, sending the prices of 32 stocks higher, 12 lower and 13 unchanged as 57 securities were swapped compared to 58 on Thursday.  
The All Jamaican Composite Index rallied 2,977.43 points to end at 412,677.51, the JSE Main Index climbed 1,783.83 points to finish at 362,545.21 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.71 points to close at 87.15.

Portland JSX led trading with 7.0 million shares for 41.1 percent of total volume, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 3.47 million units for 20.4 percent of the day’s trade, Wigton Windfarm with 2.32 million units for 13.6 percent market share and Pulse Investments with 1.41 million units for 8.3 percent market share.

PanJam Investment declined $2.99 in ending at $59.01 in an exchange of 9,854 shares, Portland JSX popped $1.50 to end at $12 after 7,000,330 stock units changed hands, Sagicor Group rallied $4.48 to close at $54.50, with 9,118 units changing hands. Sharp rebound for JSE Main Market

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 43 percent with 12 percent less value than Wednesday as 58 securities were exchanged compared to 52 on Wednesday, with 24 rising, 18 falling and 16 remaining unchanged.
Investors exchanged 8,634,954 shares for $65,465,672 versus 15,124,626 units at $74,624,156 on Wednesday. Trading averaged 148,879 units at $1,128,718 versus 290,858 shares at $1,435,080 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 816,008 units at $5,041,153, compared to 856,824 units at $5,280,521 on the previous trading day. July closed with an average of 173,643 units at $1,683,017.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 4.36 million shares for 50.5 percent of total volume, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 960,791 units for 11.1 percent of the day’s trade and Supreme Ventures traded 786,773 units for 9.1 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index popped 5,021.15 points to 409,700.08, the JSE Main Index climbed 7,542.39 points to s 360,761.38 and the JSE Financial Index rallied 0.98 points to settle at 86.44.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market fell 10.8 percent to its lowest level since the start of the year at the end of trading on Wednesday. The volume of stocks traded rose 51 percent with a 43 percent lower value than at the close on Tuesday as 52 securities were exchanged compared to 56 on Tuesday, with 16 rising, 21 declining, and 15 ending unchanged.

The All Jamaican Composite Index dived 2,743.15 points to 404,678.93, to be down 7.7 per for the year to date, the JSE Main Index dropped 4,595.49 points to  353,218.99, with a 10.8 percent fall for the year and the JSE Financial Index shed 0.72 points to settle at 85.46.
Investors traded 15,124,626 shares costing $74,624,156 versus 10,035,795 units at $130,106,528 on Tuesday. The average trade for the day was 290,858 units at $1,435,080, compared to 179,211 shares at $2,323,331 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 856,824 units at $5,280,521, compared to 889,671 units at $5,503,694 on the previous day. 138 Student Living led trading with 4.23 million shares for 28 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 3.76 million units for 24.9 percent of the day’s trade, Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 2.85 million units for 18.9 percent market share and Transjamaican Highway with 1.24 million units for 8.2 percent of the day’s transactions.

The JSE Main Market drops

Main Market stocks suffered another blow in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the All Jamaican Composite Index falling 7 percent below the start of 2022 as the volume of stocks traded fell 69 percent but with a 44 percent higher value than on Monday flowing from trading of 56 securities compared to 56 on Monday, with 20 rising, 26 declining and ten ending unchanged. 
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 2,541.98 points to 407,422.08, the JSE Main Index rose 619.64 points to 357,814.48 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.24 points to close at 86.18.
Investors exchanged 10,035,795 shares for $130,106,528 versus 32,269,822 units at $90,087,830 on Friday. Trading ended with an average of units at 179,211 at $2,323,331 versus 546,946 shares at $1,526,912 on Monday, and month to date, an average of 889,671 for $5,503,694, compared to 937,035 units at $5,715,718 on the previous trading day. July closed with an average of 173,643 units at $1,683,017.

Stocks suffered another body blow in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Monday, with an 89 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded with a 96 percent lower value than on Friday as 59 securities traded compared to 56 on Friday, with 16 rising, 28 declining and 15 ending unchanged.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 2,052.20 points to 409,964.06, the JSE Main Index dived 5,339.22 points to 357,194.84 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.06 points to close at 86.42.

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 19 percent with an 83 percent hike in value compared to trading on Thursday and leading to the All Jamaican Composite Index declining 2,420.51 points to 412,016.26, down 6 percent for the year to date. The JSE Main Index dropped 3,211.91 points to 362,534.06, with a year to date fall of 8.5 percent and the JSE Financial Index shed 1.29 points to settle at 86.48.
Trading ended with 289,860,735 shares for $2,467,647,684 compared with 358,301,804 units for $1,351,391,586 on Thursday.

Pulse dominates Main Market trades

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded surging 4,201 percent with 590 percent greater value than on Wednesday with 57 securities compared to 55 on Wednesday, with 20 rising, 18 declining and 19 ending unchanged.

Pulse closed at a new high after hitting a record $10.59 during the day.

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 36 percent with a 289 percent greater value than on Tuesday and ended with declining stocks exceeding those rising by a two to one margin.
Trading ended with 55 securities, the same as Tuesday, with 14 rising, 27 declining and 14 ending unchanged. The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 2,917.62 points to 414,850.94, the Main Index fell 847.36 points to 365,868.63 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.20 points to 87.71.
Investors were more aggressive on Wednesday, trading 8,329,845 shares for $195,931,637 up from 6,129,079 units at $50,321,427 on Tuesday. Trading averaged 151,452 units at $3,562,393, versus 111,438 shares at $914,935 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 159,696 units at $1,335,443, compared to 160,435 units at $1,135,635 on the previous trading day. July closed with an average of 173,643 units at $1,683,017.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.32 million shares for 15.9 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.25 million units for 15 percent of the day’s trade, PanJam Investment with 1.15 million units for 13.8 percent market share and Sagicor Group ended with 1.04 million units for 12.4 percent of stocks trading.

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 17 percent, with the value rising 58 percent above Monday’s moderate levels as declining stocks exceeded those rising and resulted in a decline in the primary market indices.
A total of 6,129,079 shares were exchanged for $50,321,427 versus 7,396,135 units at $31,788,226 on Monday. Trading averaged 111,438 units at $914,935, compared to 125,358 shares at $538,783 on Monday, with the month to date, averaging   160,435 units at $1,135,635, compared to 165,265 units at $1,157,389 on the previous trading day. July  averaged173,643 units at $1,683,017.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 2.15 million shares for 35 percent of total volume, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 1.26 million units for 20.5 percent of the day’s trade and Carreras with 295,502 units for 4.8 percent market share.
Trading ended with 55 securities compared to 59 on Monday, with 16 rising, 27 declining and 12 ending unchanged. The All Jamaican Composite Index dived by 1,679.50 points to 417,768.56, the Main Index fell 808.61 points to 366,715.99 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.53 points to settle at 87.91.
