Gains continue for JSE Main Market

Stocks resumed their upward climb on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market in trading on Tuesday with the total value of stock trading rising 44 percent as 46 percent more shares were exchanged than on Monday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,670.78 points to 434,116.38, the Main Index rose 1,257.61 points to 395,841.18 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.83 points to end at 102.90.
Trading ended with 46 securities changing hands compared to 45 on Monday and closed with prices of 17 stocks rising, 19 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 8,821,156 shares for $30,320,380 up from 6,056,307 units at $21,128,624 on Monday. Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 30.6 percent of total volume for 2.7 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 20.5 percent for 1.81 million units, Wigton Windfarm accounted for 15.3 percent, with 1.35 million units and QWI Investments with 14.4 percent and 1.27 million units changing hands.
The day’s trades averaged 191,764 units at $659,139 for each security compared to an average of 134,585 shares at $469,525 on Monday. The month to date averaged 163,489 units at $565,374 for each security. December ended with an average of 455,206 units at $7,774,631.

At the close of the market, Barita Investments rose 99 cents to $83.99, in trading 13,252 shares, Caribbean Cement climbed $2.70 to $61.20, after 18,617 stock units crossed the market, Eppley advanced by $2.99 to $27.99 trading 103 units. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund dropped $4.75 to $40 after exchanging 3,507 stock units, First Rock Capital shed 84 cents to end at $12.06, with 77,141 shares crossing the exchange, Grace Kennedy rose $1.90 to $65.75, as investors switched 52,116 shares. Jamaica Producers slipped 49 cents to $20.51, after exchanging 3,825 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 38 cents to $20.30 trading 126 units. JMMB Group fell $1.40 to close at $32.60, in switching ownership of 27,492 stock units, Key Insurance gained 34 cents to settle at $6.35, with investors swapping 67,302 shares, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy advanced $4.50 to $157.50, with 871 units changing hands, NCB Financial dropped $4.50 in closing at $139, in a transfer of 19,907 units. 138 Student Living shed 47 cents to close at $4.37 exchanging 107 units, Proven Investments declined by $1.01 to close at $34, after crossing the exchange with 31,112 shares, Salada Foods climbed $1 to $30, after exchanging 6,010 units. Scotia Group shed 70 cents to close at $44.25, with an exchange of 24,970 stock units and Wisynco Group shed 47 cents to close at $16.05 trading 103,159 shares.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living preference share rose 80 cents to $6.70, in exchanging 5,000 units.

JSE Main Market drops

Trading started the new-year on a negative note on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Monday with the market Index declining after an exchange of 85 percent fewer shares than on Thursday with the values down 98 percent and declining stocks beat advancing ones on a 2 to 1 ratio.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 1,075.49 points to 432,445.60, the Main Index dropped 1,031.36 points to 394,583.57 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.02 points to settle at 102.07.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands compared to 47 on Thursday and closed with prices of 12 stocks rising, 24 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 17 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 6,056,307 shares at $21,128,624 versus 39,602,360 units at $1,040,390,883 on Thursday.
Transjamaican Highway led with 25.1 percent of total volume in trading 1.52 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 23.2 percent for 1.4 million units and QWI Investments, with 18.2 percent market share for 1.1 million units.

Pan Jam Investment climbed $8.97 to $74.99, after crossing the market with 19,678 stock units, Proven Investments shed 79 cents to close at $35.01, with 8,415 units changing hands. Sagicor Group gained 50 cents to end at $50.50, in exchanging 12,901 units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund shed 74 cents ending at $8.25, in trading 2,963 shares, Salada Foods shed $1 in closing at $29 trading 410 units. JSE Main market drops 23% in 2020

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Thursday with the market rising after more stocks recorded gains than those declining but ended the year down 22.6 percent as the coronavirus disrupted financial markets locally and worldwide.
The local market has recovered some 16 percent of the losses suffered up to March 25, but the gains so far are some way off the start of the year. At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 2,252.56 points to close at 433,521.09, the Main Index gained 2,013.69 points to close at 395,614.93 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.16 points to end at 102.09.
For a second consecutive day, trading ended with 47 securities changing hands and ended with prices of 19 stocks rising, prices of 16 declining and 12 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 17.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 39,602,360 shares, 37 percent more than Wednesday as $1,040,390,883 chased after investment in the market. On Wednesday, 28,868,187 units traded at $558,644,139. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 25.7 percent of total volume in trading 10.20 million shares, PanJam Investment followed with 25.3 percent and 10.01 million shares, Pulse Investments with 16.7 percent for 6.62 million units. Wisynco Group ended with 6.4 percent market shares from 2.53 million units, JMMB Group 6.2 percent with 2.5 million units, Barita Investments 4 percent with 1.59 million units and Wigton Windfarm 3.9 percent market share with 1.54 million units.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Wednesday with the market rising after rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by a big margin after the trading volume was just marginally lower than on Tuesday.

The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 1,936.76 points to close at 431,268.53, the Main Index rose 1,848.12 points to 393,601.24 and the JSE Financial Index shed 0.10 points to end at 102.25.
Trading closed with 47 securities compared to 45 on Tuesday and ended with prices of 26 stocks rising, 15 declining and six remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 17.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading closed with 28,868,187 shares for $558,644,139 compared to 29,337,011 units at $299,861,101 on Tuesday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 29.9 percent of total volume after 8.62 million shares were traded, followed by Eppley Caribbean Property Fund with 26.1 percent after 7.53 million units changing hands. Wigton Windfarm controlled 9.3 percent market share with 2.67 million shares, Community & Workers Credit Union 8.7 percent with 2.52 million units, Wisynco Group 4.3 percent with 1.23 million units, Carreras controlled 4.1 percent of total volume with 1.2 million units and Sagicor Group with 1.09 million units for 3.8 percent market share.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Tuesday with the market after rising stocks just edged out declining ones after an exchange of 42 percent fewer shares than on Monday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index lost 528.44 points to close at 429,331.77, the JSE Main Index shed 550.89 points to end at 391,753.12 and the JSE Financial Index shed 0.11 points to settle at 102.35.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands compared to 47 on Monday with prices of 17 stocks rising, 16 declining and 12 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 17.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Stocks recorded gains for a third day on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market at the end of trading on Monday, with the market rising after an exchange of 170 percent more shares than on Thursday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index carved out a gain of 379.52 points to settle at 429,860.21, the Main Index rose 402.18 points to settle at 392,304.01 and the JSE Financial Index inched 0.29 points to settle at 102.46.
Trading ended with 47 securities changing hands compared to 44 on Thursday with prices of 18 stocks rising, 13 declining and 16 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Gifts were left at the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Thursday but they did not satisfy all, but the market closed after rising stocks were just squeezed out by those declining after an exchange of 24 percent fewer shares at 55 percent increased value changed hands than on Wednesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index surged 5,262.81 points to 429,480.69, the Main Index jumped 4,683.95 points to end at 391,901.83 and the JSE Financial Index increased 1.53 points to settle at 102.17.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands compared to 48 on Wednesday and ended with prices of 15 stocks rising, 17 declining and 12 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed at an average of 16.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Trading on Wednesday, resulting in an almost even split between rising and declining stocks on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market after the volume of shares exchanged was marginally lower than on Tuesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 1,881.19 points to settle at 424,217.88, the Main Index climbed 1,702.34 points to 387,217.88 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.44 points to close at 100.64.
Trading ended with 48 securities changing hands compared to 46 on Tuesday and ended with prices of 20 stocks rising, 21 declining and seven ending unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market saw trading of 24,549,135 shares for $140,421,055 down from 24,954,720 units at $310,333,709 on Tuesday. Kingston Wharves declined by $1.09 to $45.80 after exchanging 385 units, Mayberry Investments increased 38 cents to $6.15 in trading 12,925 stock units, NCB Financial shed $4.97 in ending at $140 with 128,875 stocks crossing the exchange. 138 Student Living increased 51 cents in closing at $4.86 and exchanging 1,838 shares, Palace Amusement rose $100 to $1300 after exchanging 16 units,  Portland JSX climbed $1.50 to $9.50 exchanging 800 shares, Sagicor Real Estate Fund rose 47 cents to close at $7.75, with 6,265,503 stocks crossing the exchange. Salada Foods climbed $5.72 to $28.74 in an exchange of one share, Scotia Group increased $2.49 to $45 in trading 703,239 stocks and Sygnus Credit Investments advanced 90 cents to $16.90 while trading 21,929 stock units.

JSE Main market drops

Stocks lost ground at the close of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday with declining stocks just edging out those that gained after 44 percent more shares were exchanged with an 80 percent lower value than on Monday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index lost 5,193.89 points to settle at 422,336.69, the Main Index declined by 4,647.93 points to settle at 385,515.54 and the JSE Financial Index shed 1.90 points to settle at 100.20.
Trading ended for a third consecutive day with 46 securities changing hands, ending with the prices of 19 stocks rising, 20 declining and seven remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio at the close of trading averaged 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 24,954,720 shares for $310,333,709 compared to 17,323,616 units at $1,538,352,731 on Monday.
Pulse Investments led trading with 25 percent of total volume after trading 6.23 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway 17.4 percent with 4.33 million units, Sagicor Group 16.1 percent market share with 4.02 million units, Wigton Windfarm 12.4 percent with 3.1 million units, QWI Investments 10.2 percent with 2.56 million units and Jamaica Broilers Group with 1.54 million units for 6.2 percent market share.
Trading averaged 542,494 units at $6,746,385 for each security, compared to 376,600 shares at $33,442,451 on Monday. Trading month to date averaged 363,405 units at $7,224,823 for each security, in contrast to 350,980 units at $7,258,018 on the prior trading day. Trading in November averaged of 623,120 units at $6,686,047.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows nine stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
At the close of trading, Barita Investments lost 30 cents to end at $83.40 trading 15,654 shares, Berger Paints advanced 55 cents to end at $14.55 in exchanging 1,856 stock units, Eppley climbed $3.90 to close at $28.90 after trading 3,515 stock units. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund rose $1.50 to $44.50 with an exchange of 112,205 shares, Grace Kennedy increased $2 to $63 after exchanging 111,501 stocks, Jamaica Broilers lost $2.22 to end at $26.25 after exchanging 1,537,465 stock units. Jamaica Producers advanced $1.57 to $21.20 in an exchange of 50,501 shares, JMMB Group climbed 93 cents to $33, with 68,233 stocks changing hands, Key Insurance carved out a loss of 53 cents in ending at $6.57 in an exchange of 106,968 stock units. Kingston Properties climbed $1.04 to $7.25 in exchanging 1,500 shares, NCB Financial rose 47 cents to $144.97 after exchanging 22,631 stocks, Palace Amusement dived $100 to $1200 after exchanging 9 units. Sagicor Group lost 50 cents to close at $49.50 in trading 4,022,948 stocks, Salada Foods lost $1.98 after ending at $23.02 with investors swapping 54,260 stock units, Scotia Group shed 97 cents to end at $42.51, with 47,182 shares passing through the market and Sygnus Credit Investments fell 50 cents to $16 in an exchange of 194,763 shares.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living Preference share dropped $2.23 to settle at $4.65 with an exchange of 8 stock units and Eppley 8.75% preference share climbed $1.52 to settle at $7.52 after crossing the market with 2,800 units.

NCB corners 94% traded value

NCB Financial had another day of a big trade and dominated activity on Monday, with more than half of the volume traded accounting for 94 percent of the overall value traded on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Monday.  

NCB Financial Group cornered the largest portion of JSE trading on Monday.

At the close of trading, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 2,558.91 points to settle at 427,530.58, the JSE Main Index gained 2,168.39 points to settle at 390,163.47 and the JSE Financial Index gained 1.31 points to settle at 102.10.
For the second consecutive trading day 46 securities changed hands with prices of 13 stocks rising, 20 declining and 13 unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 17,323,616 shares trading for $1,538,352,731 compared to 37,661,093 units at $245,318,135 on Friday.
NCB Financial Group led trading with 57.6 percent of total volume after exchanging 9.98 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 15.3 percent after 2.65 million units traded and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 4.3 percent market share, with 736,342 shares.
Trading averaged 376,600 units at $33,442,451 for each security, compared to 818,719 shares at $5,333,003 on Friday. Month to date averaged 350,980 units at $7,258,018 for each security, in contrast to 349,070 units at $5,305,856. November averaged 623,120 units at $6,686,047.

JMMB Group fell $2.93 to $32.07 with investors swapping 18,419 shares, Key Insurance lost 89 cents to close at $7.10 in an exchange of 133,506 stocks, Kingston Properties shed $1.04 to end at $6.21 in an exchange of 1,417 shares. Kingston Wharves advanced 90 cents to $46.90 after exchanging 11,025 stocks, Mayberry Investments lost 50 cents to end at $6 with 695 shares trading, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy shed $14 to end at $145 with an exchange of 10 stock units. NCB Financial climbed 50 cents to $144.50, with 9,979,058 shares crossing the exchange, Palace Amusement climbed $87 to $1300 in trading 14 units, PanJam Investment rose $1.15 to end at $67.97 trading 37,700 shares. Portland JSX lost 48 cents in ending at $8 trading 15,755 stock units, Sagicor Group climbed $4.99 to $50, with 46,612 units passing through the market, Salada Foods lost $4 to close at $25 in exchanging 1,267 shares and Scotia Group shed $1.02 to end at $43.48 trading 11,546 stock units.
