JSE Main Market stocks plunge

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange gave up all of Monday’s gains and a bit more at the close on trading on Monday, with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index carving out a loss of 3,468.25 points to end at 411,583.46, the JSE Market Index dropped 3,134.54 points to 375,462.49.

The JSE Financial Index lost 1.12 points to 96.97 and the PE ratio of the combined US dollar and Main Market ended at 14.9, while the Main Market ended at 15.3 times ICInsider.com projected 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 44 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 14 stocks advancing, 24 declining and 6 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 38 securities accounting for 23,658,315 units valued at $370,631,204, in contrast to 5,583,023 units valued at $31,456,051 from 44 securities on Monday.
Pulse Investments led trading with 6 million shares for 25 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 5.6 million units for 23.6 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Group with 5.4 million units for 22.8 percent of the market’s volume. JMMB Group was the only other stock to exceed a million shares and ended with 2.2 million units changing hands.
An average of 622,587 shares traded on Tuesday at $9,753,453 for each security, in contrast to 126,887 units at an average of $714,910 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date ends 400,703 units at $6,759,539 for each security changing hands, compared to 388,606 units with an average of $6,585,846. Jamaica Stock Exchange picked up 40 cents swapping 19,725 stock units to end at $23.89, JMMB Group shed 50 cents to finish at $33, with 2,167,140 shares changing hands, Key Insurance fell by $1 trading 120,262 shares and settled at $4. Kingston Wharves ended at $56.18, with a loss of $1.30 transferring 257 units, Mayberry Jamaican Investments lost 60 cents swapping 85,440 shares to close at $9.20, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy declined by $4 to $170, in exchange of 287 units. NCB Financial Group fell to $141, after losing $2.70 trading 52,823 stock units, Proven Investments closed $1 lower at $33, with a transfer of 45,593 stock units, Sagicor Group ended at $44.80, with a loss of $1.70 swapping 5,391,323 shares. Salada Foods gained 50 cents to close at $29, after exchanging 4,788 units, Scotia Group traded 205,805 shares at $42.50, having lost 80 cents and Sterling Investments picked up 30 cents, ending the day’s trade at $2.45 transferring 10,300 units.

Sharp fall for JSE Main Market

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange dropped sharply at the close on Friday as the volume and value traded contracted from the previous two days as heavyweight Scotia Group dropped $3.41 and was one of 14 stocks falling on the market.
At the close of trading, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dived 7,074.36 points to 411,662.86, the JSE Market Index dropped 6,402.83 points up to 375,463.29 and the JSE Financial Index lost 2.57 points to 97.17.
The day’s activities saw 39 securities changing hands in the Main Market compared to 41 on Thursday and 42 in the combined Main and US dollar markets and ended with the prices of 13 rising 14 declining and 15 closing unchanged. The average PE ratio of the overall market stood at 14.9, while the Main Market ended at 15.3 based on IC Insider.com 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 11,604,958 shares for $94,333,066, compared to 13,973,559 units at $676,293,640 on Thursday.
At the close of trading, JMMB Group 7.5% preference share led the market with 4 million shares for 34 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 2.9 million shares for 25 percent of the day’s trade and Victoria Mutual Investments with 1.05 million units for 9 percent market share.
The average trade of the day was 297,563 units at $2,418,797 in contrast to an average of 340,819 units at $16,494,967 on Thursday. The average volume and value traded for the month to date amount to 406,241 units at $7,008,631, in contrast to an average of 413,144 units at $7,321,574. Jamaica Producers climbed 60 cents to close at $23.10 with an exchange of 19,581 shares. JMMB Group dropped by 70 cents after ending at $33.30, with 57,156 shares changing hands, Kingston Wharves rose $1.27 to end at $57.27 in trading 616 units, Mayberry Investments advanced 35 cents in ending at $6 after swapping 128,733 units. Mayberry Jamaican Equities climbed 90 cents to settle at $10.50 trading 110,500 units, NCB Financial Group lost 52 cents to end at $139.51 trading 158,913 units, Pan Jam Investment advanced by $2 to settle at $75 with 432,418 stock units crossing the exchange. Proven Investments dropped $1.35 to end at $34.50 with a transfer of 22,266 shares, Sagicor Group climbed $1 to $46 after exchanging 27,292 stock units, Salada Foods gained 50 cents in closing at $30.50 trading 7,383 shares and Scotia Group shed $3.41 to close at $43.08 exchanging 112,216 stock units.

Second day drop for Main Market

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange brushed aside two days of gains towards the end of last week, to close with the market index dropping over 2,000 points on Monday and ending with lower volume and value as the number of stocks gained, outnumbering losers, more than two to one.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 2,426.04 points to 413,307.03, the JSE Market Index dropped 2,201.27 points to 376,914.67 and the JSE Financial Index shed 0.97 points to 97.99. The PE ratio of the market ended at 14.7, while the Main Market ended at 15.1 times IC Insider.com projected 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 44 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 26 stocks advancing, 12 declining and seven securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 41 securities accounting for 16,453,963 units valued at $79,166,239, in contrast to 23,620,498 units valued at $191,546,437 from 41 securities on Friday.
Trans Jamaican Highway led trading with 5.6 million shares for 34 percent of total volume followed by Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Funds with 3.1 million units for 19 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Windfarm with 2.1 million units for 12.8 percent market share. Other stocks trading more than one million units were Carreras with 1 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.6 million shares.

The JSE Main Market eked out meager gains in the leading market indices as market activity closed mixed on Friday with higher volume for less value than traded on Thursday.

At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index gained 361.49 points to end at 415,733.07, the JSE Market Index added 342.51 points to close at 379,115.94 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.19 points to 98.96. The PE ratio of the market ended at 14.6, while the Main Market ended at 15.0 times ICInsider.com projected 2020-21 earnings.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 11.6 million shares for 49 percent of total volume followed by Pulse Investments with 4.4 million units for 18.6 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.9 million units for 7.9 percent market share. Other stocks trading more than one million units are Carreras with 1.1 million units and Grace Kennedy with 1.6 million shares.

JSE Main Market slips back on Monday

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange lost some more ground on Tuesday as trading levels fell back from Monday’s levels.
At the close of trading, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index fell by 558.44 points to 415,364.32, the JSE Market Index shed 505.53 points to 378,739.47 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.03 points to end at 99.04. The PE ratio of the market ended at 14.8, while the Main Market ended at 15.1 times 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 43 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 17 stocks advancing, 13 declining and 13 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 39 securities accounting for 9,471,871 units valued at $108,990,432, in contrast to 18,388,256 units valued at $319,619,070 from 45 securities on Monday.

At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index gained 708.47 points to 417,762.85, the JSE Market Index advanced by 727.80 points to 380,852.40 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.39 points to 99.79. The PE ratio of the market ended at 14.5, while the Main Market ended at 14.9 times 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 50 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 17 stocks advancing, the prices of 19 declining and 14 securities closing with prices unchanged. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 47 securities accounting for 9,959,063 units valued at $43,386,539, in contrast to 26,283,150 units valued at $123,873,387 from 42 securities on Wednesday.

Soaring trading on JSE Main Market

Trading soared on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday 44 securities crossing the market leading to 43,623,370 units valued at $900,746,655, in contrast to 23,529,489 units valued at $145,262,959 from 41 securities changing hand on Monday.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index fell by 663.89 points to 416,640.00, the JSE Market Index was down 753.91 points to 379,687.89 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.34 points to 99.11.
The market closed with 47 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 17 stocks advancing, 20 declining and ten securities trading firm. The PE ratio of the market ended at 14.4, while the Main Market ended at 14.7 times ICI Insider.com projected 2020-21 earnings.

JSE Main Market starts June down

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange gave back some of the gains at the end of May, with NCB Financial falling back in price. The market closed with rising stocks outpaced those declining on Monday, but the IC bid-offer Indicator points to positive trading on Tuesday.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dived by 3,543.96 points to 417,303.69, the JSE Market Index dropped 3,208.18 points to 380,441.80 and the JSE Financial Index shed 1.35 points to 99.45.
The market closed with 45 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 22 stocks advancing, 16 declining and seven securities closing with prices unchanged. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 41 securities accounting for 23,529,489 units valued at $145,262,959, in contrast to 109,379,530 units valued at $203,610,322 from 45 securities on Friday.

Stanley Motta fell 50 cents to $5, after trading 4,500 shares, Supreme Ventures closed 39 cents higher at $15.19, in an exchange of 103,922 units and Victoria Mutual Investments gains 65 cents and ended at $7.95, with 162,480 shares changing hands.

JSE Main market up 5% in May

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock exchange closed out May on a high note with the market prime indices rising appreciably to close out the month with a gain of five percent but closed with a loss of 25 percent for the year to date.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 4,018.59 points to 420,847.85, the JSE Market Index advanced 3,762.78 points to 383,649.98 and the JSE Financial Index gained 1.12 points to 100.80. The PE ratio of the market ended at 14.5, while the Main Market ended at 14.8 times 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 49 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 22 stocks advancing, 16 declining and 11 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 45 securities accounting for 109,379,530 units valued at $203,610,322, in contrast to 21,505,791 units valued at $167,719,708 from 40 securities on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 80 million shares for 73 percent of total volume followed by Trans Jamaican Highway with 24 million units for 22 percent of the day’s trade and QWI Investments with 1.5 million units for 1.4 percent market share. Also, trading over a million units was Sagicor Select Financial Fund, with 1.15 million units.
The average trade for the day was 2,430,656 units at $4,524,674 for each security traded, in contrast to 537,645 units at an average of $4,192,993 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date ended at 475,543 units at $3,077,280 for each security changing hands, compared to 369,670 units with an average of $2,994,834. Trading in April resulted in an average of 1,077,021 units valued at $3,829,201 for each security.
IC bid-offer Indicator At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows seventeen stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three stocks closing with lower offers.
In the Main Market, Barita Investments shed 60 cents to end at $50.40, with a transfer of 171,676 shares, Caribbean Cement gained $1 exchanging 34,628 stock units and closed at $52, Eppley ended $1 higher at $17.99, with 35,848 stock units changing hands. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund jumped $5 to $38 after swapping a mere one unit, First Rock Capital shed 40 cents to settle at $12.60, in transferring 2,741 units, Jamaica Producers closed 70 cents lower at $20.10 trading 423,052 shares. Jamaica Stock Exchange gained $1.57 and ended at $22.57, exchanging 105,212 shares, Kingston Properties dropped $1.50 to finish at $4.80, after swapping 40,000 stock units, Kingston Wharves climbed $2.99 to $57.99 transferring 9,590 units. Mayberry Investments lost 40 cents to end at $5.60 trading 14,908 units, Palace Amusement shed another $100 to close at $1,100, in an exchange of 83 units, Salada Foods gained 50 cents swapping 191,208 shares and closed at $29. Scotia Group advanced by $1 to $46, with 17,902 stock units changing hands, Stanley Motta picked up 80 cents to settle at $5.50, after transferring 31,500 stock units, Supreme Ventures gained 30 cents exchanging 40,864 stock units and closed at $14.80 and Sygnus Credit Investments ended trading at $17.32, after rising 36 cents and swapping 7,512 units.

JSE majors give up some gains

Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market gave back some of the solid gains enjoyed on Tuesday as declining stocks outpaced declining ones and the volume and value of stocks trading rose.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 2,732.71 points to 418,091.63, the JSE Market Index dropped 2,473.80 points to 381,213.32 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.29 points to 100.58.
The market closed with 49 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 16 stocks advancing, 21 declining and 12 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 44 securities accounting for 18,437,961 units valued at $158,788,476, in contrast to 17,326,841 units valued at $105,645,502 from 45 securities on Tuesday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 5.8 million shares for 31.4 percent of total volume followed by Trans Jamaican Highway with 5.1 million units for 27.7 percent of the day’s trade and Carreras with 1.1 million units for 5.8 percent market share. Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.06 million shares was the only other company trading over a million units.
The Market closed with an average of 419,045 units at $3,608,829 for each security traded, in contrast to 385,041 units valued at an average of $2,347,678 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 361,176 units valued at $2,930,932 for each security changing hands, compared to 357,768 units with an average value of $2,888,684. Trading in April resulted in an average of 1,077,021 units valued at $3,829,201 for each security.

PanJam Investment closed at $75.01, with a loss of 74 cents after exchanging 34,676 stock units, Proven Investments fell 99 cents to finish at $35, in swapping 26,455 stock units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund ended 84 cents lower at $7.10, with 105,300 shares changing hands. Salada Foods declined $1.50 to $28.50 after 15,492 stock units changed hands, Seprod lost 44 cents to close at $53.56, in trading 51,316 stock units, Stanley Motta finished at $4.70, having lost 35 cents in swapping 12,264 units.
