JSE main market jumps sharply – Tuesday

Main market stocks surge higher at the close of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday even as declining stocks beat out advancing almost 3 to 1. Market activity took place from increased volumes as 30 securities changed hands up from 26 on Monday.
At the close of trading 2 securities were active in the US dollar market, 6 stocks advanced and 15 declined in both markets. The main market ended with 3,703,287 units valued at $102,098,446 changing hands compared to 6,318,090 units valued at $56,287,458 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for just 984 units valued at US$623, bringing the total of all trades to J$102,178,210.
The All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 2,655.88 points to close at 277,217.25, the JSE Market Index climbed 2,419.81 points to 252,576.32 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 0.07 points to close at 186.15.

Main market stocks of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at record levels at the close on Thursday with the market indices climbing over 2,300 points but with advancing stocks being edged out by declining ones.
The All Jamaica Composite Index surged 2,567.56 points to a record close of 278,436.64, the JSE Market Index jumped 2,339.33 points to a record at the close of 253,687.31 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 10.81 points to close at 186.89.
At the close of trading, 25 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 8 stocks advancing and 9 declining. Main market drops 2,000 points – Wednesday

Main market stocks suffered a reversal of fortunes on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday with the main indices slipping over 2,000 points in spite of a $5 jump for Carreras and $2 for Sagicor Group. Trading closed moderately with 1,809,394 units valued at $47,308,355 changing hands.
On Tuesday just 909,094 units valued at $30,837,797 traded in the main market. Trading in the US dollar market on Wednesday accounted for 297,250 units valued at US$77,073 bringing the total of all trades to J$57,173,667.
At the close of trading, 26 securities changed hands in the main market with 2 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 9 stocks advancing and 8 declining.
The All Jamaica Composite Index declined 2,289.06 points to close at 275,869.08, the JSE Market Index lost 2,085.59 points to 251,347.98 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 5.10 points to close at 197.70.

All Jamaica jumps 2,443 points to record 272,863.82

Jamaica Stock Exchange main market hit new records at the close on Friday, with the All Jamaica Composite Index hitting a 4th consecutive all-time high of 272,863.82 after surging 2,443.17 points and the JSE Market Index jumping 2,226.01 points to it 6 consecutive record at 248,609.84.
NCB Financial Group jumped sharply by $11.99, to be the major contributor to the market movement, to close at an all-time high of $94.99, with 23,437 shares traded. There has been very limited supply for the group’s stock in the market and trading closed with less than 7,000 shares on offer.
The JSE US dollar market index gained 0.41 points to close at 188.84 with 2 securities trading in the US dollar market and one losing value.

NCB Financial Group’s shares jumped $11.99 on Friday.

The JSE main market has broken through resistance at 265,000 on the AJI but new resistance is not far away – see black line in upper right.

The JSE US dollar market index lost 4.65 points to close at 183.77 with 1 stock trading in the US dollar market. The market closed out July with gains of more than 26 percent for the year to date.

Salada Foods traded $1 lower to $9 while exchanging 400 units, Scotia Group gained 50 cents and closed at $42 with trades of 78,658 shares, Scotia Investments lost 40 cents to close at $36 trading 76,543 units, Seprod jumped $3.43 to $29.95 trading 6,350 shares, Supreme Ventures lost 20 cents to $7.70, with 56,978 shares trading. Proven Investments US ordinary shares lost 0.01 US cent to close at 23 US cents in exchanging 930,313 units, Proven Investments 8.25% preference share closed at $5, with 11,640 units traded, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.5% preference share was up 5 cents to close at $2.05, with 40,000 units changing hands and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share traded 4,047 units at $1.11.

 

Palace jumps $50 to $550 on Thursday

Palace Amusement hit a record of $550 on Thursday.

Palace Amusement stock jumped by $50 to close at an all-time high of $550, with only 143 shares trading, the big price movement would have little effect on market index. The next largest movement was Carreras with a fall of $3 as it pulled back from the record close on Wednesday.
At the close of the market, the All Jamaica Composite Index declined 192.22 points to close at 259,443.53, the JSE Market Index fell 175.13 points to 236,382.44 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 1.21 points to close at 173.04.

JSE Majors in big recovery on Monday

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange recovered all the losses it incurred on Thursday and Friday and more putting it back ahead of the closing level at the end of trading on Monday last week but below the close of the prior trading day. The All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 2,627.40 points to close at 259,160.39, the JSE Market Index climbed 2,393.86 points to 236,124.47 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 12.75 points to 200.45.
At the close of trading, 24 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 12 stocks advancing and 9 declining. Trading in the main market ended with 2,726,092 units valued at just $27,555,950 changing hands compared to 4,265,878 units valued at $141,120,152 at the close on Friday.
