Volume rise market index drops

Market activity ended on Thursday with the volume of shares trading 43 percent higher and the value of stocks 110 percent more than on Wednesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, but the market indices dropped even as rising stocks exceeded those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 1,775.99 points to settle at 443,279.16 after the market opened at just over 445,891, the JSE Main Index shed 1,470.55 points to 401,600.62 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.68 points to end at 97.47.
Trading ended with 49 securities similar to Wednesday, with 20 rising, 15 declining leaving 14 unchanged. The PE Ratio, a measure used in computing appropriate stock values, averages 16. Market activity ended on Wednesday with the volume of shares trading inching higher than Tuesday and leading to a mild rise of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market at the close.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 1,026.18 points to 445,055.15, the JSE Main Index rose 582.88 points to 403,071.17 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.73 points to end at 98.15.

JSE Main Market closed with bullish signals

Market activity plunged on Tuesday, with the volume of shares trading declining 71 percent, with the value dipping 45 percent lower than on Monday, at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market. Trading ended, with rising stocks were just edged out by those declining, but the market closed with a strong bullish signal for Wednesday, as shown by the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator below. 
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 2,156.83 points to 444,028.97, the Main Index shed 355.00 points to 402,488.29 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.01 points to end at 97.42.

JSE Majors give up Wednesday’s big gains

Wednesday’s nearly 4,000 points gain recorded by the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market were wiped out in Thursday’s trading, helped by an unexpected fall in Caribbean Cement third quarter profit, resulting in reduced revenues and a significant drop in profits from $1.44 in the September 2020 quarter to just 5 cents per share this year, leading to a decline in the stock price to a low of $100 and an average of $102.65 and knocking around 3,400 points off the market indices.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 3,915.38 points to 445,859.79, the Main Index fell 3,726.12 points to 403,394.40 and the JSE Financial Index advanced 0.03 points to end at 98.30.
At the close of the market, the volume of shares trading rose 65 percent above Wednesday outcome, but the value was lower by 24 percent as 14,752,654 shares changed hands for $147,324,583 compared to  8,948,387 units at $192,939,993 on Wednesday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 18.3 percent of total volume for an exchange of 2.70 million shares, followed by Radio Jamaica with 15.2 percent for 2.25 million units. 1834 Investments was next with 11.5 percent after an exchange of 1.69 million units, Ciboney Group contributed 7.5 percent, with 1.11 million units and Transjamaican Highway held 7 percent after trading 1.04 million units.

Big move by JSE Main Market stocks

Investors pushed 53 percent more funds into the main market on Wednesday than they did on Tuesday and delivered robust gains in the market indices, but the volume of shares trading declined 36 percent at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, with an equal number of stocks rising and falling.
The All Jamaican Composite Index surged 3,908.17 points to 449,775.17, the JSE Main Index rallied 3,592.95 points to end at 407,120.52 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.58 points to close the day at 98.27.
Overall, 50 securities traded compared to 53 on Tuesday, with 18 rising, 18 declining and 14 ending unchanged and trading ended with Caribbean Producers traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $9.

Market activity on Tuesday closed mixed, with the volume of shares trading rising 97 percent and the value 27 percent higher than on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, but rising stocks were less than those declining at the close of the market, as the All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 871.55 points to 445,867.00, the JSE Main Index advanced 276.58 points to 403,527.57 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.25 points to 97.69.
Trading ended with 53 active securities compared to 46 on Monday, with 18 rising, 25 declining and ten ending unchanged. After two weeks of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market mostly falling on a daily basis, stocks enjoyed a big bounce in the market indices on Monday, after the volume of shares trading declined 28 percent and the value fell marginally below trading on Friday as rising stocks exceeded those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index spiked 3,121.23 points to 446,738.55, the Main Index climbed 2,672.56 points to close at 403,250.99 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.93 points to end at 97.44.

Sagicor Group rose 97 cents to $52.97 with 50,333 units crossing the exchange, Sagicor Real Estate Fund gained 50 cents to $8.50 in switching ownership of 2,542 shares, Seprod picked up 20 cents at $63.70 in an exchange of 10,581 stock units and Sygnus Credit Investments fell 25 cents to $18.40 after 143,800 stocks crossed the market.

Volume slips value rises on JSE Main Market

Market activity ended on Friday, with the volume of shares trading declining moderately and the value of the trades rising 27 percent over that on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market resulting in an equal number of stocks advancing and declining stocks.
The All Jamaican Composite Index slipped 82.69 points to close at 443,617.32, the JSE Main Index dived 2,627.64 points to 400,578.43 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.94 points to end at 96.51.
Trading ended with 53 securities down from 50 on Thursday, with 21 rising, 21 declining and 11 ending firm.

PanJam Investment rose 75 cents in closing at $64, with 11,021 units crossing the exchange, Portland JSX declined $2.70 to $7.50 in trading 5,400 stock units, Sagicor Group shed 97 cents in ending at $52 after an exchange of 48,753 stocks. Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost 50 cents to close at $8 with the swapping of 20,200 shares, Seprod advanced $2.60 to $63.50 with a transfer of 4,291 stocks, Stanley Motta rallied 60 cents to $5.90 with the swapping of 8,215 stock units. Sterling Investments gained 20 cents to close at $3 in switching ownership of 18,739 units.
