A mere 13 stocks recorded gains at the close of trading on Wednesday after investors drove down the prices of 23 stocks and left 11 unchanged, with 47 securities changing hands compared to 48 on Tuesday, with market activity resulted in the number of shares traded popping 68 percent and the value spiking 117 percent higher than on Tuesday on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 994.79 points to 451,670.82, the JSE Main Index lost 199.45 points to end at 420,160.07 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.29 points to settle at 104.48.
The PE Ratio, a measure that determines an appropriate relative value of each stock, averages 16.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
At the close, 12,077,813 shares traded for $416,350,090 versus 7,206,318 units at $192,089,830 on Tuesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 20.6 percent of total volume after an exchange of 2.49 million shares followed by NCB Financial Group with 14.9 percent from 1.80 million units, Pulse Investments with 13.5 percent after trading 1.64 million units, Sagicor Select Financial Fund accounted for 12.2 percent for 1.48 million units and Mayberry Investments traded 8.9 percent with 1.08 million units.
Trading close with an average of 256,975 units at $8,858,513, compared to 150,132 shares at $4,001,871 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averages 202,991 units at $6,404,631, in contrast to 150,132 units at $4,001,871 on Tuesday. May closed with an average of 439,937 units at $4,698,961.

Market slips into June

Market activity ended on Tuesday with the market declining, as more stocks declined than rose, with an exchange of 69 percent fewer shares valued 32 percent less than Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 950.05 points to 452,665.61, the JSE Main Index declined 1,739.04 points to end at 4420,359.52 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.33 points to settle at 104.19.
A total of 48 securities traded, up from 45 on Monday, with 15 stocks rising, 22 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 16.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 7,206,318 shares trading for $192,089,830 versus 23,167,260 units at $283,034,981 on Monday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 31.9 percent of total volume for an exchange of 2.30 million shares, followed by NCB Financial Group with 11.4 percent for 821,848 units and Pulse Investments with 11.3 percent for 814,035 units.

Sterling dominates Main Market trading

Sterling Investments accounted for 50 percent of the total volume of shares trading on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, after the overall trading saw an 81 percent drop in volume compared to Friday and a 53 percent fall in the value of stock changing hands.
The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 760.15 points to 453,615.66, the JSE Main Index gained 32.01 points to end at 422,098.56 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.22 points to settle at 104.52.
Trading ended with 45 securities compared to 49 on Friday, with 16 stocks rising, 23 declining and six remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio ended with an average of 16.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 23,167,260 shares trading for $283,034,981 versus 119,750,700 units at $599,497,233 on Friday. Sterling Investments led trading with 50 percent of total volume after trading 11.58 million shares followed by Sagicor Group 12.2 percent with 2.84 million units, Pulse Investments controlled 11.4 percent, with 2.63 million units, Transjamaican Highway took 6.3 percent of the trade with 1.45 million units and Wigton Windfarm took 5.2 percent for an exchange of 1.20 million units.

Sagicor Select Manufacturing and Distribution Fund dominated the volume traded on Friday, accounting for an 871 percent rise in the number of shares traded, with the value jumping 363 percent higher than on Thursday, on a day when declining stocks beat out rising ones two to one on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 1,817.92 points to 454,375.81, the JSE Main Index gained 754.27 points to end at 422,066.55 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.44 points to settle at 104.74.

Market activity ended on Thursday with only the All Jamaican Composite rising after more stocks advanced than declined, with an exchange of 55 percent fewer shares valued 83 percent lower than on Wednesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index gained 109.54 points to 452,557.89, the JSE Main Index shed 184.88 points to 421,312.28 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.05 points to settle at 104.30.
Trading ended with 48 securities, similar to Wednesday, with 23 stocks rising, 17 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 16.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 12,330,202 shares trading for $129,542,064 versus 27,181,743 units at $767,234,675 on Wednesday. Guardian dominates JSE trading

Guardian Holdings dominated market activity after trading 713,248 shares, with a value of just over $549 million, after a drop in the price by $19.50 to a new low of $770 on Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday, with the market losing ground for a second consecutive day after advancing stocks beat out declining ones 3 to 2 with an exchange of 116 percent more shares valued 348 percent higher than on Tuesday.

Guardian Holdings hit a 52 weeks’ high of $30 on Tuesday.

The All Jamaican Composite Index fell 1,023.18 points to 452,448.35, the JSE Main Index declined 1,934.22 points to 421,497.16 and the JSE Financial Index shed 0.86 points to settle at 104.35.

The majority of Main Market stocks fell on Tuesday after the market reopened for the Labour day holiday activity ended 49 securities trading with prices of 16 rising, 26 declining and seven remained unchanged, with the seven percent fewer shares trading at double the value of stocks trading on Friday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 1,007.80 points to  453,471.53, the JSE Main Index fell 871.80 points to 423,431.38 and JSE Financial Index slipped 0.12 points to 105.21.

Main Market loses ground to close out week

Demand for stocks declined on Friday in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, with the volume of stocks trading falling 48 percent and the value of stocks exchanged dropping 82 percent lower than Thursday’s market activity leading to a slight dip in the main market indices with the advancing stocks just edging out those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 202.86 points to 454,479.33, the Main Index fell 257.00 points to 424,303.18 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.04 points to close 105.33.
Trading ended with 48 securities compared to 50 on Thursday, with 19 stocks rising, 18 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 13,537,949 shares trading for $85,630,782 down sharply from 26,264,484 units at $470,763,094 on Thursday. Proven Investments fell 90 cents to $37 with the swapping of 61,769 units, Sagicor Group lost 30 cents to close at $52.70 in switching ownership of 21,793 stocks, Scotia Group gained 80 cents to end at $40.80 in exchanging 5,309 units. Seprod shed $1.50 to close at $73.50 with an exchange of 44,685 stock units, Supreme Ventures rose $1.55 to close at $21.75 in trading 98,472 stocks and Sygnus Credit Investments gained 40 cents to finish at $15.61 after exchanging 313,497 stocks.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.75% preference share fell 99 cents to close at $6.51 with a transfer of 347 shares.

JSE Main market bounces back

Market activity ended on Thursday, with the market recovering almost all of the losses of the previous two days after advancing stocks edged out declining ones, with the overall traded volume and value climbing 211 percent and 357 percent respectively compared to Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 3,237.08 points to 454,682.19, the Main Index advanced 2,716.72 points to 424,560.18, and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.97 points to settle at 105.37.
Trading ended with 50 securities compared to 47 on Wednesday, with 18 stocks rising, 16 declining and 16 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 forecast of earnings, is 16.1.

At the close 26,264,484 shares traded for $470,763,094 versus 8,440,224 units at $102,931,227 on Wednesday. JMMB Group 7.25% led trading with 33.9 percent of total volume for 8.91 million shares followed by Sagicor Group with 27.6 percent in trading 7.25 million units, Sagicor Select Financial Fund 13.6 percent, with 3.58 million units, Pulse Investments with 5.2 percent for 1.37 million units and Transjamaican Highway with 3.9 percent for an exchange of 1.04 million shares.
Trading averaged 505,086 units at $9,053,136, compared to 179,579 shares at $2,190,026 on Wednesday. Trading month to date averages 321,833 units at $3,709,022, compared to 307,218 units at $3,282,804 on Wednesday. April averaged 234,200 units at $1,772,561.

Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 20 cents to settle at $17.80 in switching ownership of 6,010 units, JMMB Group declined $1 to $32 with a transfer of 76,488 stock units, Key Insurance gained 34 cents to end at $5.35 in trading 295,925 stocks. Kingston Wharves fell $1 in closing at $46 with the swapping of 11,543 shares, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy dropped $24 to end at 52 weeks’ closing low of $100 after exchanging 21 stock units, NCB Financial Group shed $2 to finish at $139 while exchanging 78,790 shares. 138 Student Living rose 85 cents to close at $5.39 in switching ownership of 13,853 stock units, Palace Amusement dropped $29 to end at $926 in swapping 111 stocks, PanJam Investment declined $5.85 to finish at $66.05 with 26,162 shares clearing the market, Proven Investments closed 75 cents higher at $37.90, with 5,272 units crossing the market, Sagicor Group climbed $2 to end at $53 trading 7,248,980 shares, Seprod slipped 90 cents to $75 after exchanging 41,954 units. Stanley Motta lost 34 cents in ending at $5.90 in switching ownership of 6,907 stock units, Supreme Ventures gained 20 cents to end at 52 weeks’ closing high of $20.20 in trading 193,925 shares and Wisynco Group ended 45 cents lower at $15.45 in switching ownership of 153,549 stock units.

JSE Main Market in turbulent zone

Just below 460,000 points is proving to be a turbulent area for the Main Market on Tuesday after coming close during the morning session at 459,212 points the index of locally based Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market stocks pulled back sharply at the close. In today’s trading, the market moved up to 456,129 points but again failed to hold onto early gains and closed with the market index slipping from Tuesday close.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined 2,953.62 points to close tab 451,445.11, the Main Index shed 2,482.03 points to 421,843.46 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.98 points to settle at 104.40.
Trading ended with 47 securities, down from 52 on Tuesday, with 20 stocks rising, 22 declining and five remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings averages 16.
The market closed with 8,440,224 shares trading for $102,931,227 versus 11,779,992 units at $110,710,765 on Tuesday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 18.5 percent of total volume for an exchange of 1.56 million shares followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund 17 percent, with 1.43 million units and Pulse Investments with 15.7 percent after trading 1.33 million units.

Jamaica Producers shed $1 to close at $23.50 in transferring 18,462 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 25 cents in closing at $18 with 17,670 shares changing hands, JMMB Group advanced $1 to $33 in switching ownership of 188,002 stock units. Key Insurance shed 32 cents to end at $5.01 after an exchange of 321,258 shares, NCB Financial advanced $2.10 to $141 in trading 22,667 units. 138 Student Living lost 86 cents to close at $4.54, with 12,305 stock units clearing the market, Palace Amusement climbed $41 to $955 after exchanging 123 stock units, Pan Jam Investment jumped $6.90 to $71.90 with the swapping of 1,737 units, Portland JSX fell $2.40 to $7.10 with the transfer of 51,289 shares. Proven Investments lost 80 cents to close at $37.15, with 18,599 stock units crossing the market, Sagicor Group fell $1.50 to $51 with 905,925 shares changing hands. Scotia Group shed 80 cents in ending at $40 in exchanging 41,900 stocks. Seprod advanced $2.90 to $75.90 with 13,000 units crossing the market, Stanley Motta gained 24 cents in closing at $6.24 with the swapping of 2,707 stock units, Supreme Ventures picked up 20 cents to settle at a 52 weeks’ high of $20 after clearing the market with 82,366 stocks and Sygnus Credit Investments lost 40 cents in closing at $15.10, after trading 175,692 units.
