Several changes to IC TOP 10

Scotai Dropped out of TOP 10 with a big prioce surge.

The main market indices jumped 5.6 percent this past week as big gains in NCB Financial Group, Sagicor Group and Scotia Group pushed the market strongly on Thursday and Friday to close at new record high.
Junior Market stocks on the other hand continued to struggle to get investors’ attention, slipping a few points from the previous week’s close. The market is consolidating and is poised for a takeoff very soon with the market highly undervalued currently.
The market movement for the week resulted in five changes to the top 10 lists. The main market lost Caribbean Cement, Sagicor Group and Scotia Group that enjoyed price gains. Entering the main market TOP 10 list are Carreras, Jamaica Broilers and Pulse Investments. The Junior Market bid good-bye to CAC200 and Jamaican Teas and welcomed back Lasco Financial and Everything Fresh.
Price changes this past week, did little change to projected gains for most of the leading stocks compared the prior week. The three leading Junior Market stocks for the coming week are, Iron Rock with projected gains of 243 percent, followed by Caribbean Producers 237 percent and AMG Packaging with possible gains of 202 percent.
Sterling Investments with 178 percent leads main market stocks followed Radio Jamaica with potential gains of 173 percent and Victoria Mutual Investments in third spot with the potential to gain 144 percent by March next year.
The main market, closed the week with the overall PE remaining at 15.2 but the Junior Market inched higher to 11.2. The PE ratio for Junior Market Top 10 stocks averages 7.4 and the main market PE 9.1. These levels, point to a big upside for TOP 10 stocks over the next 12 months and Junior Market stocks in particular.
The TOP 10 stocks now trade at an average discount of 34 percent to the average for the Junior Market Top stocks and main market stocks trade at a discount of 40 percent to the overall market.
TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns within a 12 months period. Projected earnings, for each company’s current fiscal year, are used in determining, the selected stocks. The PE for and projected earnings for each stock are computed to show potential gains for the year, which are ranked in descending order. Potential values will change as stock prices fluctuate and will result in movements of the selection in and out of the lists for most weeks. Earnings per share are revised on an ongoing basis as new information is received that can result in changes in and out of the list.

NCB Financial jumps $19 to record close – Friday

NCB shareholders enjoying boom time with the stock trading at $200 on Friday to be up 33% in 2019.

NCB Financial Group closed trading at a record $198.99 for a stunning gain of $18.99 as 12.8 million shares traded. Scotia Group also joined in the euphoria by rising $4 to close at $59.60.
The big gains in the two leading financial market stocks sent the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index up a stunning 13,935.32 points to a record closing high of 507,044.4 within minutes of the close, while the JSE Index jumped 12,663.55 points to a new high of 461,759.26 during Friday’s trading session.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index surged 13,923.36 points to a record close of 507,032.49 and the JSE Index jumped 12,652.68 points to a new closing high of 461,748.39.
At the end market activity on the main market the prices of 11 securities advanced, 9 declined and 13 traded firm, as a total of 41 securities traded, compared to 35 on Thursday. No trades took place in the US dollar market.
Eppley ordinary share traded at a new high of $16.50 but closed lower at the end of the day at a new closing high of $16.20 and the Jamaica Stock Exchange shares ended at a new closing 52 weeks’ high of $25.01.
Market activity ended with 69,103,355 units at $2,988,675,102, in contrast to 100,042,177 units with a value of $2,008,625,701 changing hands, on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 42.68 million units or 62 percent of total main market volume, NCB Financial Group  with just over 13 million shares changing hands, equating to 19 percent of total trades, followed by JMMB Group with 10 million stock units for 15 percent of the day’s trades.
The market closed with average of 2,094,041 units valued at an average of $90,565,912 for each security traded, in contrast to 2,565,184 units valued at $51,503,223 for each security traded on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,593,766 shares, with a value of $23,947,275, compared to 1,560,748 shares, with a value of $19,229,647 previously. May closed with an average of 2,248,261 units at an average of $12,751,529 for each security traded.

JMMB Group rose $1.50 trading 10,146,390 shares to end at $39, NCB Financial Group jumped by a huge $18.99 to close at $198.99, with an exchange of 12,978,156 stock units. The big price move followed the announcement that the group sold their shares in Advantage General Insurance for almost US$51 million. PanJam Investment lost $1 and finished at $95, trading 96,263 shares, Sagicor Group gained 99 cents to finish at $51.99 with 536,546 shares crossing the exchange, Scotia Group rose jumped $4 to $59.50, with an exchange of 114,279 shares. Sterling Investments declined 30 cents and finished at $3.60, with the trading of 5,482 units.

 

JSE majors jumped sharply to new record

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index surged 6,329.49 points to a record close of 493,109.13 and the JSE Index jumped 5,751.84 points to close at points to a new closing high of 449,095.71.
At the end market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 17 securities advanced, 10 declined and 14 traded firm, as a total of 41 securities traded, compared to 35 on Wednesday.
Eppley ordinary share traded at a new high of $16.01 but closed lower at the end of the day but the Jamaica Stock Exchange shares surged to a new high of $26.40 and closed at new all-time highs of $24.21 as the volume and value trading in the overall market, soared since Wigton Windfarm listed. Sygnus Credit Investments US denominated stock, traded in the regular market, at a new high of $13.06.  Eppley 8.75% preference shares closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.80.
Market activity ended with 100,042,177 units with a value of $2,008,625,701 changing hands, in contrast to 45,741,770 units with a value of $2,118,495,057 on Wednesday.

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index pushed 3,240.99 points to a new record close of 486,779.64 and the JSE Index climbed 2,945.21 points to a new closing high of 443,343.87.

JSE pulls back from Tuesday’s record high

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 3,373.63 points to reach an intraday record high of 487,004.99 just after 11 am on Tuesday, but the market failed to hold on to the early gains ending with a modest fall at the close.
At the close on Tuesday, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 92.71 points to 483,538.65 and the JSE Index declined 84.25 points to 440,398.66.
At the end market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 12 securities advanced, 16 declined and 9 traded firm, as a total of 37 securities traded, compared to 33 on Monday. Eppley and the Jamaica Stock Exchange shares closed at new all-time highs. Market activity ended with 41,671,400 units with a value of $333,001,137 changing hands, in contrast to 77,902,533 units for $226,722,040 on Monday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 37.5 million units or 90 percent of total main market volume, NCB Financial Group with 1.4 million shares changing hands equating to 2.4 percent of total trades, followed by JMMB Group 7.5% preference share with 697,600 stock units and less than one percent of the day’s trades. JSE surges to new record close – Monday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market continues to reach new highs for the year as investors continue to focus their attention on main market stocks and leaving their Junior Market siblings to play second fiddle.
At the close on Monday, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 3,297.34 points to a record close of 483,631.36 and the JSE Index surged 2,996.42 points to yet another record close of 440,482.91.
At the close market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 12 securities advanced, 16 declined and 9 traded firm, as a total of 37 securities traded, compared to 33 on Friday. Just one new stock for IC TOP 10

Stocks mostly closed higher on the Jamaica Stock Exchange during the past week but Lasco Financial was the sole stock falling from the TOP 10 listings and letting Jamaican Teas back in.
Rising stock prices in the last week help in reducing the projected gains for some of the leading stocks compared to position at the end of the prior week. The three leading Junior Market stocks for the coming week are, Iron Rock with projected gains of 242 percent, followed by Caribbean Producers 233 percent and tTech with possible gains of 202 percent.
Radio Jamaica with potential gains of 161  percent leads main market stocks, followed by Sterling Investments with 156 percent and Victoria Mutual Investments in third spot with the potential to gain 144 percent by March next year.

JSE rise on volume surge – Friday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market made gains at the close of trading on Friday, but pulled back sharply after as much as 6,551.54 on the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index that touched 485,516.89 after just 11 minutes of opening.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index gained 1,368.67 points to 480,334.02 and the JSE Index advanced 1,243.76 points to 437,486.49.
At the close market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 14 securities advanced, 12 declined and 7 traded firm, as a total of 33 securities traded, compared to 29 on Thursday. Market activity ended with 96,408,959 units valued $1,106,187,077, in contrast to 39,807,927 units valued $250,698,516 on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 55.9 million units or 58 percent of total main market volume, Sagicor Group closed with 17.8 million shares changing hands equating to 18.5 percent of total trades, followed by Stanley Motta with 15 million stock units and 16 percent of the day’s trades. Also coming in with good volumes are Mayberry Jamaica Equities trading 2.38 million shares and Wisynco Group with 2.86 million shares.

JSE major indices drop – Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market pulled back sharply at the close of trading on Thursday, with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index diving 3,426.77 points to 478,965.35 and the JSE Index dropping 3,114.03 points to 436,242.73.
At the close market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 12 securities advanced, 8 declined and 9 traded firm, as a total of 29 securities traded, compared to 37 on Wednesday. Market activity ended with 39,807,927 units valued $250,698,516, in contrast to 43,724,306 units valued at over $310,353,690 on Wednesday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 34.7 million units or 87 percent of total main market volume, Sagicor Group closed with 2.35 million shares changing hands equating to 6 percent of total trades, followed by Scotia Group with 1.2 million stock units and 3 percent of the day’s trades.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market closed lower on Wednesday as the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 3,591.40 points to 482,392.12 and the JSE Index advanced by 3,263.64 points to 439,356.76.
At the close market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 11 securities advanced, 14 declined and 12 traded firm, as a total of 37 securities traded, compared to 39 on Tuesday. Market activity ended with 43,724,306 units valued at over $310,353,690, in contrast to 89,828,749 units valued $521,107,116 on Tuesday.
Wigton Windfarm returned to the lead position in trading with 37.9 million units or 87 percent of total main market volume, Caribbean Cement closed with 1.35 million shares changing hands equating to 3 percent of total trades, followed by PanJam Investment with 1.2 million stock units and 3 percent of the day’s trades.
The market closed with average of 1,286,009 units valued at an average of $9,128,050, in contrast to 2,566,536 units valued 14,888,775 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,246,050 shares, with a value of $10,804,762, compared to 1,241,019 shares, with a value of $11,046,323 previously. May closed with an average of 2,248,261 units at an average of $12,751,529 for each security traded.

Trading in the US securities market resulted in 116,915 units valued $63,417 changing hands. Market activity ended with JMMB Group 6% preference share trading 47,500 units with a loss of 1 cents at $1.04 US cents, Proven Investments traded 44,620 units in closing at 25 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments traded 24,795 units to end at 10 US cents.
