JSE record run shakes up IC TOP 10

Five consecutive days of record close, shook up IC Insider.com’s TOP 10 this past week, more shakeup seems possible with a raft of company results set for release, this week.
IC Insider’s long standing TOP 10 main market stock, Caribbean Cement jumped sharply during the week to record high of $100 before closing the week at $80, up $16.60 as investors reacted positively to the strong first quarter results. Sagicor Group rose to close the week at $46.50 and Sygnus Credit Investments moved to $12.50 at the close of the week and moved out of the TOP 10 main market. Jamaica Broilers, Berger Paints and Pulse Investments return to the main market TOP list.
The Junior Market TOP 10, said goodbye to Jamaican Teas that rose to $3.90 and Caribbean Cream. Caribbean Cream earnings for the 2019/20 fiscal year were down grade to 47 cents per share, following the release of 2019 audited financial results. ISP Finance returns to the TOP list after a long absence and AMG Packaging returned after a short time out.
The three leading Junior Market stocks for the coming week are, Elite Diagnostic with likely gains of 233 percent, followed by Lasco Financial with potential gains of 229 percent and Caribbean Producers with projected gains of 221 percent.
Radio Jamaica with potential gains of 175 percent takes over the leadership of main market stocks, from Victoria Mutual Investments with 150 percent likely gain, and now sits in third spot behind Sterling Investments with potential to gain 151 percent.
 Wigton Windfarm, Jamaica’s latest initial public share offer, sits in at the 4 position on the main market stock list. The stock comes to the market at 50 cents per share and boast a PE of 8.3 times normalized earnings for the year to March 2019.

3 new additions to IC TOP 10

There are three new additions to the IC Insider.com’s TOP 10 stocks for this week, but there are no new movement in and out of the top main market stocks.
AMG Packaging moved up in price and slipped out of the top list, Caribbean Cream and Medical Disposables that climbed to $7.50 at the end of the week, were edged out.
CAC2000 returns to the TOP 10 as the price fell to $9.21 after months of absence. Pressure on revenues due to disruption in business caused by the roadworks around the area of their offices, could see this one being down in price for a while, until investors see it as just temporary. Everything Fresh makes it to the list in eight position and Jamaican Teas returns with the price hit down to $3 but closed with the bid at $3.50.
The three leading Junior Market stocks for the coming week are Caribbean Producers with projected gains of 240 percent, Elite Diagnostic with potential gains of 228 percent and CAC2000 with potential gains of 226 percent.
Victoria Mutual investments is now the top Main Market stock with 156 percent likely gain, followed by Radio Jamaica with 152 percent and Sterling Investments with potential to gain 151 percent.

Grace new HQ close to the end of construction in downtown Kingston

General Accident returned to the Junior Market TOP 10 list along with Main Event while Grace Kennedy returns to the TOP 10 main market list at the expense of Pulse.
Jamaican Teas price moved up to $3.97 from $3.50 at the close of the previous week and Caribbean Cream came in for some buying during the past week, pushing the price to $6.60 and out of the top flight of Junior Market stocks. In the main market, Grace Kennedy slipped in price to close the week at $59.75 and that was enough for it to edge its way back in the TOP main market stocks.
The three leading Junior Market stocks are Iron Rock with potential gains of 300 percent, Caribbean Producers 281 percent up from last week, as the stock slipped to $4.20 and Lasco Financial with potential gains of 211 percent.
The three leading main market stocks are, Victoria Mutual investments with 152 percent likely gain, is on top, followed by Carib Cement with potential to gain 150 percent for the year down from 172 percent in the prior week and Sterling Investments with 150 percent.

Grace Kennedy moved up in price to $61 and is now at 13 spot, while Pulse Investments price slipped to $2.50 and moved into the TOP 10 main market stock list, replacing Grace. There were no movements in or out of the Junior Market TOP 10 listing.
IC insider.com revised Caribbean Cement earnings to $7 per share since the last report resulting from a reassessment of the amount expended on importing cement in 2018. Import of cement which cost more than $1 billion in 2018, is not expected to recur in 2019. That moved it to the top of the main market stocks. Earnings per share for General Accident was lowered to a more conservative 60 cents even though it could exceed that level, with the December 2018 quarter showing a 44 percent increase in gross premium income over the 2017 quarter, almost twice the 23 percent increase for the full year. If growth in the last quarter were to carry through in 2019, then a higher bottom-line can be expected. The earnings downgrade moved the company to the 10th spot on the list.
The three leading Junior Market stocks are Iron Rock with potential gains of 300 percent, Paramount with potential gains of 281 percent and Caribbean Producers 258 percent.

Barita up 593% top 2018 JSE stock

Barita climbs to a new closing high of $50 on Friday to gain 593% in 2018..

Stocks on the Jamaica Stock Exchange main market ending 2018 with a credible gain of 31.7 percent but brokerage house Barita Investments surged a by a huge 593 percent to be the markets best performing stock in 2018.  
Barita Investments gain mostly came after Cornerstone Investment Holdings officially sealed the deal to take over the company and laterally, after announcing a rights issue to shareholders at an exercise price of $15.50. The stock closed the year at $52. But there is a lot more going on with this company as the new majority owners take a more aggressive approach to capture more business locally and within the wider Caribbean.
Four stocks end 2018 with gains of more than 100 percent contributed to the year’s performance but the year’s movement fell below that of 2017, when the index rose 50.7 percent. The next best performer could only deliver a 211 percent rise in contrast to the stunning gains by Barita. Salada Foods ended the year with a jump in price to $35 on strong gains in profit, to capture the number 2 best performing spot rising by 211 percent for the year, followed by Palace Amusement with gains of 159 percent, the third year in a row that it is occupying the top 10 list. Kingston Wharves grew 135 percent to be one of 4 stocks to reappear in the top 10 for two consecutive years. Jamaica Broilers gained 67 percent. Pulse Investments reappeared in the Top 10 with a rise of 66 percent and heavy weight, PanJam Investment put in a strong showing of 65 percent, while Supreme Ventures chipped in with 57 percent, Mayberry Investments rose 52 percent and NCB Financial with 50 percent to retain one of the Top 10 spots for the second year in a row.
The worst performing stocks included Ciboney down 71 percent due mainly to the sale of property it previously owned with most of the proceeds distributed as a dividend thus reducing the value of its assets to a few million dollars. 138 Student Living was next with a fall of 42 percent with Portland JSX ending with a loss for the year of 25 percent following on from Kingston Properties with 22 percent and Sygnus Credit Investments with 20 percent from it 2018 IPO price. Both Ciboney and Carreras that are in the top 10 worst performing stocks in 2018 are coming from the top 10 in 2017.

Investors shun Junior stocks for the oldsters

Investors shunned Junior Market stocks in 2018 for the older more established Main market stocks. At least that is what the data from the exchange is showing.
According to the Jamaica Stock Exchange report of trading to the end of July, volume and value on the main market is up while that on the junior market is well down on 2017 figures, even as the gains in the overall market shows juniors up 14 percent for the year to the end of July and 9 percent for the main market.
Junior Market volume is down year to July by a stunning 69 percent to 571 million units while the value fell 64 percent to $2.69 billion, less than half of the $6.6 billion traded for all of 2017. In contrast main market stocks traded 1.57 billion units, up 28.5 percent over 2017, for a total value of $32 billion, a strong 79.4 percent increase over 2017 and just shy of the $35.7 million traded for all of 2017.
The big winners for the year to July are, Palace with an increase of 154 percent, that was helped by the huge success of the Black Panther film that ran for several months, Pulse Investments up 67 percent, Kingston Wharves 60 percent, Jamaica Broilers 45 percent and Salada Foods 41 percent, as investors responded to improved profit. In the Junior Market, C2W Music and Derrimon Trading beat all others by huge margins, rising 233 percent after it announced a 10 to 1 stock split and 197 percent respectively. Express Catering climbed 86 percent, Stationery and Office Supplies up 65 percent and CAC 2000 up 51 percent.
The big losers in the main market are, Ciboney, having sold off the property it owned and paid out most of the proceeds as a dividend is down 68 percent, 138 Student Living fell 35 percent, Kingston Properties 31 percent, Wisynco Group 24 percent, Portland JSX 20 percent and in the Junior Market, GWEST Corporation down 36 percent, AMG Packaging 33 percent, tTech 23 percent, Knutsford Express 23 percent and Eppley 17 percent.

JSE jumped on Thursday

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange recovered the losses of the previous two days and added more to the indices in the process on Thursday as trading remains subdued with less than half the value traded on Wednesday.
Trading in the main market ended with 2,808,119 units valued $38,691,449 compared to 2,665,607 units valued $71,318,160 on Wednesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 1,768.07 points to 338,276.19. and the JSE Index climbed 1,610.91 points to 308,207.79.
Activities in the main market and US dollar market resulted in 24 securities trading including 2 from the US dollar market, compared to 26 securities trading on Wednesday. At the end of trading, the prices of 8 stocks advanced, 9 declined and 7 closed unchanged.
The day’s volume was led by, JMMB Group with 25.3 percent of trading in an exchange of 711,490 shares, followed by Ciboney Group with 687,852 units accounting for 24.5 percent of the day’s volume and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share with 500,000 shares or just under 18 percent.
Stocks with major price changes are, Caribbean Cement gained 99 cents to finish at $40, exchanging 66,139 shares, Jamaica Broilers jumped $2.54 to $26.50, with 50,891 stock units trading, JMMB Group gained 44 cents and ended at $30, trading 711,490 shares, Jamaica Producers shed 50 cents to $17 trading 30,582 units. Mayberry Investments fell 49 cents and settled at $6.50, with 53,128 units, Proven Investments lost 50 cents trading 750 shares in the Jamaican market to close at $26.50, Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost 90 cents and closed at $14.10, exchanging 10,100 shares, Pulse Investments rose 45 cents trading 98,245 shares to close at $3.40, Scotia Group rose 50 cents to $51, with 1,830 units.
Trading resulted in an average of 122,092 units valued at over $1,682,237, in contrast to 111,067 shares valued at $2,971,590 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts 151,016 units valued at $2,952,092 compared to 152,906 units valued at $3,041,409 on Wednesday. June closed with an average of 250,168 shares with a value of $5,895,281, for each security traded.
Trading in the US dollar market closed with 10,150 units valued at $1,252. Sygnus Credit was the only stock trading in the US market, the price rose 1.47 cents to 12.48 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index rose 1.39 points up to 141.04.

Trading in the main market ended with 2,665,607 units valued $71,318,160 compared to 2,832,561 units valued at over $81,949,830 on Tuesday.
Activities in the main market and US dollar market resulted in 26 securities trading including 2 from the US dollar market, compared to 30 securities trading on Tuesday. At the end of trading, the prices of 10 stocks advanced, 12 declined and 4 closed unchanged.
The day’s volume was led by, Caribbean Cement led with 37.64 percent of trading in an exchange of 1,003,349 shares, followed by Barita Investments with 500,653 units and Sagicor Group with 461,652 shares.

Volume up prices down on JSE on Tuesday

Trading picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, compared to the very modest level on Monday. Trading ended with an exchange of 2,832,561 units valued at over $81,949,830 compared to a mere 1,455,806 units valued just $24,016,207 on Monday.
The pickup in trading did not result in the continuation of a rise in the indices that occurred on Monday and the All Jamaican Composite Index lost 865.50 points to close at 337,233.03 and the JSE Index declined 788.57 points to 307,257.36.
Activities in the main market and US dollar market resulted in 30 securities trading including 4 from the US dollar market, compared to 28 securities trading on Monday. At the end of trading, the prices of 7 stocks advanced, 14 declined and 9 closed unchanged.
The day’s volume was led by, Sagicor Group with 758,030 shares, settling at $38.75 followed by Wisynco Group trading 584,757 units and finished at $9.35.

Pulse Investments lost 70 cents as 27,498 shares traded down to $2.30, Sagicor Group fell $1.25 to $38.75 with the trading of 758,030 units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund jumped $1.05 and settled at $15.10, exchanging 8,443 shares, Seprod lost 49 cents to $34.01 in trading 3,092 units and Supreme Ventures lost 95 cents and ended at $15.05, as 134,214 shares traded and Sygnus Credit traded 6,998 units and rose 45 cents to close at $13.20.
Trading resulted in an average of 108,945 units valued at over $3,151,917, in contrast to 60,659 shares valued at $1,000,675 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts 155,968 units valued at $3,046,939 compared to 160,016 units valued at $3,037,085 on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market closed with 207,453 units valued at $17,742 as JMMB Group 5.75% preference share completed trading at $1.03 with 20,000 stock units, Sterling Investments lost 0.5 cents and finished at a 52 weeks’ low of 8.5 US cents with 190,000 shares changing hands, Proven Investments closed at 15 US cents trading 346 shares, an attempted trade at 9 cents was cancelled as it would have exceeded 30 percent move in a day and Sygnus Credit traded 14,000 units at 11 US cents. Another record close for JSE majors -Tuesday

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at a new record high on Tuesday to break into the 338,000 mark, for the first time, with the All Jamaican Composite Index climbing 820.63 points to a record 338,079.54 and the JSE Index rising 747.69 points to a record 308,028.64.
Activities in the main and US dollar markets resulted in 30 securities trading including 5 from the US dollar market, compared to 31 securities trading on Monday. At the close, the prices of 9 stocks advanced, 16 declined and 6 closed unchanged.
Trading activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with an exchange of 7,061,151 shares valued at $104,913,847 compared to 7,903,876 units valued at $168,386,017 on Monday.
The day’s volume was led by Wisynco Group with 3,436,668 units accounting for 48.67 percent of the day’s volume, followed by Jamaica Broilers  with 1,004,631 units and 14.23 percent of the day’s volume and Ciboney with 1,004,631 units accounting for 14.23 percent of the volume traded.

The average volume and value for the month to date amounts 175,865 units valued at $3,072,419 compared to 163,654 units valued at $2,946,511, on Monday. In the US dollar market, 122,190 units valued at $31,374, as JMMB Group 6% preference share rose 1.5 cents and ended trading at US$1.025 with 11,100 stock units changing hands and Proven Investments rose 1 cent and closed at 18 US cents with 111,090 units changing hands. The JSE USD Equities Index rose 2.02 points up to 152.41.
