Guardian knocks JSE Main Index

Market activity ended on Tuesday with the market indices all declining, but the JSE Main Index sustaining the greater loss of 6,266.26 points to close at 424,325.49, with Guardian Holdings dropping $110, with NCB Global announcing on Monday the offer of 2 million shares to the public at $795 each. Trading ended after an exchange of 31 percent fewer shares valued 30 percent less than on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.

Guardian Holdings hits the lowest price on the JSE on Tuesday.

The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 371.38 points to 454,398.73, the JSE Main Index dropped 6,266.26 points to 424,325.49 after Guardian Holdings trading at the lowest price since listing and the JSE Financial Index shed 2.89 points to settle at 105.38.
Trading ended with 52 securities slightly down on the 51 on Monday, with 20 rising, 24 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 16.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 11,779,992 shares trading for $110,710,765 versus 17,166,156 units at $158,866,078 on Monday. Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund led trading with 25.4 percent of total volume after an exchange of 3 million shares followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund 14.3 percent, with 1.68 million units, Pulse Investments contributed 12.7 percent, with 1.5 million units, Transjamaican Highway accounts for 10.3 percent after trading 1.21 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 9.1 percent after 1.07 million units changed hands.
Trading averaged 226,538 units at $2,129,053, compared to 336,591 shares at $3,115,021 on Monday. Trading month to date averages 317,134 units at $3,367,698, in contrast to 325,653 units at $3,484,171 on Monday. April averaged 234,200 units at $1,772,561.

At the close, Berger Paints gained 50 cents ending at a 52 weeks’ high of $15.50 in trading 18,992 stock units, Caribbean Cement advanced $2.22 to $87.22 with 122,894 units changing hands, Grace Kennedy slipped 50 cents to close at $88 with the swapping of 58,997 shares, Guardian Holdings dropped $109.96 to end at $789.99 trading 11,872 stocks after NCB Global posted its prospectus on the JSE to sell 2 million shares to the public at a price that was much lower than the Mondays’ close. Jamaica Broilers advanced $2 in closing at $36, with 251,099 units crossing the exchange. Jamaica Producers fell 48 cents to $24.50 in transferring 123,613 stock units, JMMB Group shed $1.10 to end at $32 with an exchange of 357,375 shares. Key Insurance lost 27 cents to settle at $5.33 in clearing the market of 366,006 stocks, Kingston Wharves rose $2 to $47 in switching ownership of 1,856 shares, Margaritaville closed 50 cents lower at $15 after clearing the market with 1,500 stock units. NCB Financial Group gained 70 cents to end at $138.90 in an exchange of 113,242 shares, 138 Student Living finished 89 cents higher at $5.40 after crossing the market with 4,300 stock units, Palace Amusement declined $26 to end at $914 with 2 units crossing the exchange. PanJam Investment fell $4 in closing at $65 with an exchange of 40,380 stock units, Proven Investments gained 90 cents to end at $37.95 in trading 14,404 shares, Sagicor Group shed $1.45 to end at $52.50 with the swapping of 13,121 units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund rose 74 cents to $8.29 with the transfer of 1,548 shares. Salada Foods gained 44 cents to finish at $7.50 in exchanging 67,172 units, Scotia Group slipped 50 cents to close at $40.80 with an exchange of 456,287 stocks, Seprod declined $4.57 to $73 after 3,586 units changed hands. In the preference segment, 138 Student Living preference share advanced $1.66 to $7.90, with 5 stock units clearing the market and Productive Business Solutions 9.75% preference share dropped $5 to $105 in trading 100 stocks.

JSE Main Market in resistance territory

Market activity pushed the All Jamaican Composite Index up 4,686 points in the early morning session to just over 456,400 points and close to resistance level on Monday and the market managed to hold on 3,056.45 points at the close to end at 454,770.11, on the Main Market of Jamaica Stock Exchange, at the same time, the Main Index rose 2,576.48 points to 430,591.75, and the JSE Financial Index gained 1.14 points to settle at 108.27.
At the close, 51 securities traded, up from 49 on Friday, with 20 rising, 23 declining and eight ending unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 16.2 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The volume and values of shares traded, fell 46 percent and 48 percent respectively compared to Friday levels, as 17,166,156 shares changed hands for $158,866,078 versus 31,695,926 units at $306,013,533 on Friday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 40.9 percent of total volume, with 7 million shares followed by JMMB Group 7.5% took 14.1 percent of the market, with 2.43 million units, Transjamaican Highway accounted for 10.5 percent with 1.80 million units and Pan Jam Investment with 7.4 percent after 1.14 million units changed hands.
Trading averaged 336,591 units at $3,115,021, compared to 646,856 shares at $6,245,174 on Friday. Trading month to date averages 325,653 units at $3,484,171, in contrast to 324,542 units at $3,521,674 on Friday. April averaged 234,200 units at $1,772,561.

In the preference segment, 138 Student Living Preference share advanced 81 cents in closing at $6.24 after exchanging 46 shares and Eppley 8.25% gained 85 cents to end at $7 in transferring 1,500 stocks.

Main market retreats from robust early gains

Stocks trading climbed sharply on Friday with an exchange of 118 percent more shares valued 268 percent more than in Thursday trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market. The All Jamaican Composite Index just managed to squeeze out a gain of 87.75 points to close at 451,713.66 after it traded up close to 6,000 points to a high of 457,408.33 within an hour of the market’s opening.  

JSE All Jamaica Composite Index heading for the top of the upward sloping channel top at 460,000 points and could face resistance there.

The JSE Main Index rose 581.22 points to settle at 428,015.27 and The JSE Financial Index gained 0.24 points to end at 107.13.
Trading ended with 49 securities compared to 47 on Thursday and ended with prices of 21 stocks rising, 17 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 16.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 31,695,926 shares trading for $306,013,533 compared to 14,522,547 units at $83,441,774 on Thursday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 41.6 percent of total volume for 13.18 million shares, followed by Supreme Ventures with 31.7 percent for 10.04 million units and JMMB Group 7.50% with 5.4 percent for 1.70 million units changing hands.
Trading averaged 646,856 units at $6,245,174, compared to an average of 308,990 shares at $1,775,357 on Thursday. Trading month to date averages 324,542 units at $3,521,674, in contrast to 289,678 units at $3,227,079 on Thursday. Trading in April averaged 234,200 units at $1,772,561.

In the preference segment, Eppley 8.25% shed 74 cents to close at $6.15 with 1,800 stock units changing hands, JMMB Group 7.25% rose 19 cents to $1.46 in transferring 3,019 stocks and JMMB Group 7.15% – 2028 lost 18 cents to finish at $2.82 trading 20,000 shares.

JSE Main market rises to 14 months high

Rising stocks pushed the market indices higher on Thursday to end with the All Jamaican Composite Index at the highest level since the middle of March last year as the market continues to move higher in recovering the big losses in 2020.  At the close, the volume traded rose 18 percent, but the value dropped 46 percent on Wednesday levels on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 1,110.77 points to 451,625.91, the Main Index rose 732.14 points to 427,434.05, and the JSE Financial Index inched 0.15 points up to settle at 106.89.
Trading ended with 47 securities compared to 53 on Wednesday and closed with prices of 17 stocks rising, 23 declining and seven remaining unchanged.
The PE Ratio averages 16.4 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2021-22 earnings.

The market closed with 14,522,547 shares trading for $83,441,774 compared to 12,295,253 units at $154,483,246 on Wednesday. Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 34.2 percent of total volume for an exchange of 4.97 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 17.9 percent for 2.60 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 9.1 percent for 1.33 million units and Mayberry Investments with 8.3 percent for 1.23 million units changing hands.

AJI past 450,000, first since March 2020

The All Jamaican Composite Index closed above the 450,000 points level for the first time since March 13 last year when it advanced 780.41 points to close at 450,515.14, on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with an exchange of 119 percent more shares valued 339 percent higher than in trading on Tuesday.
The JSE Main Index gained 314.36 points to 426,701.91 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.05 points to settle at 106.74.
A total of 53 securities traded compared to 54 on Tuesday, with 21 stocks rising, 23 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 16.4.
The market closed with 12,295,253 shares trading for $154,483,246 compared to 5,625,284 units at $35,183,198 on Tuesday. Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund led trading with 25.1 percent of total volume after an exchange of 3.09 million shares followed by Sagicor Group 18.5 percent with 2.28 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 15.5 percent, with 1.9 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 14 percent after 1.73 million units changed hands.

Low trading activity hits JSE Main Market

In stock market activity on Tuesday, investors traded 44 percent fewer shares valued 49 percent less than on Monday with just 5,625,284 shares trading for a mere $35,183,198 compared to 10,081,649 units at $68,340,342 on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
Trading activity led to a nice rise in the All Jamaican Composite Index that climbed 2,013.60 points to settle at 449,734.73. The Main Index gained 1,725.03 points to 426,387.55 and The JSE Financial Index inched 0.10 points higher to 106.79.
At the close, 54 securities traded compared to 51 on Monday, with prices of 23 rising, 19 declining and 12 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 16.3.
The market closed Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 28.3 percent of total volume for an exchange of 1.59 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 11.5 percent for 646,723 units and Transjamaican Highway with 11.3 percent for 636,420 units.

Major rebound for Main Market

Trading activities returned to more normal levels on Tuesday, with the market rebounding from a massive 12,000 plus points drop of the All Jamaican Composite Index on Monday. The market closed on Tuesday, with more stocks rising than declining, but with a 65 percent drop in volume after 87 percent less funds chased stocks than on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 9,180.51 points to 444,936.95 after the index rose to a high in the morning session to 449,375.45. The Main Index advanced 8,254.00 points to 405,057.23 and the JSE Financial Index rose 1.11 points to settle at 99.34.
Trading ended with 48 securities compared to 52 on Monday and closed with prices of 20 stocks rising, 18 declining and 10 remaining unchanged as two stocks closed at 52 weeks’ high and one at a 52 weeks’ low. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 16.4.
The market closed with 13,252,508 shares trading for $91,030,300 compared to 37,973,727 units at $706,200,616 on Monday. Stocks suffered more than a 16,600 points swing in trading on Monday after the Main Market stocks jumped 4,268 points to a multi-month high of 452,388.58 after 14 minutes of the markets opening as the All Jamaican Composite Index plunged 12,364.61 points from Friday’s close to close at 435,756.44 on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The JSE Main Index dropped 11,219.79 points to 396,803.23 and the JSE Financial Index declined 2.16 points to t 98.23.
Trading ended with 52 securities from 53 on Friday and closed with 17 stocks rising, 21 declining and 14 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 16.5.
Trading ended with the volume rising 124 percent with the value being 399 percent higher than on Friday.
The market closed with 37,973,727 shares trading for $706,200,616 compared to 16,976,414 units at $141,423,527 on Friday. Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 33 percent of total volume after trading 12.54 million shares followed by Wigton Windfarm 16.9 percent with 6.40 million units, Caribbean Cement with 9.3 percent, with 3.52 million units. Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund accounted for 8.5 percent for an exchange of 3.24 million units, Sagicor Group with 4.9 percent for 1.86 million units, Carreras with 4.6 percent for 1.74 million units, Scotia Group with 3.4 percent market share for 1.28 million units, QWI Investments with 3 percent for 1.14 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 2.7 percent for 1.02 million units and Grace Kennedy with 2.7 percent for 1.01 million units changing hands.

Salada Foods gained $1.74 in ending at a record close of $9.15 in an exchange of 128,211 stock units, Scotia Group shed $2.50 to close at $39.50 in trading 1,279,986 shares. Seprod fell 55 cents to end at $79.45 after 50,221 stock units cleared the market and Stanley Motta lost 40 cents to close at $5.50 with an exchange of 50,000 shares.
In the preference segment, Eppley 7.5% preference share rose 94 cents to end at 52 weeks’ high of $7.19 with 967 shares changing hands, Eppley 8.25% closed 90 cents higher at $7 with 4,059 stock units crossing the market and JMMB Group 7.15% – 2028 gained 30 cents ending at $3 with 100 stock units clearing the market.

Stocks trading started out with spirited early movements on Friday taking the market up by 2,978 points at 8 minutes into the trading session to sit just below the mid-March close, but the market slipped thereafter, with All Jamaican Composite Index hanging to 1,524.26 points to settle at 448,121.05, the JSE Main Index rose up by 1,331.40 points at 408,023.02 and the JSE Financial Index climbed 0.47 points to settle at 100.39, with the majority of price movements ending in favour of falling stocks.
Trading ended with 53 securities compared to 45 on Thursday and ended with 13 rising, 22 declining and 18 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 16.5.
Trading ended with an exchange of 82 percent more shares valued 77 percent higher than on Thursday as 16,976,414 shares for $141,423,527 compared to 9,318,055 units at $79,985,841 on Thursday. JMMB Group 7.5% preference share led trading with 40.6 percent of total volume for an exchange of 6.88 million shares followed by Wigton Windfarm with 14.8 percent for 2.5 million units, Jamaica Broilers 10.8 percent, with 1.83 million units and Transjamaican Highway with 6.1 percent for 1.04 million units changing hands.
Trading averaged 320,310 units at $2,668,368, compared to an average of 207,068 shares at $1,777,463 on Thursday. Month to date trading averages 234,200 units at $1,772, 561, in contrast to 229,207 units at $1,720,616 on Thursday. March averaged 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

Proven Investments closed 23 cents lower at $37.77 in an exchange of 6,043 shares, Sagicor Group advanced $2.50 to $52.50 with 139,229 units changing hands. More gains for JSE Main Market

Wednesday marks the twelfth day of unbroken daily gains on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, in continuation of a recent renewed bullish move, with the volume of stocks traded increasing by 24 percent and the values jumping 384 percent higher than on Tuesday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 937.30 points to 444,368.73, the JSE Main Index advanced 882.22 points to 404,765.12 and the JSE Financial Index remained unchanged at 100.37.
Trading ended with 52 securities, up from 50 on Tuesday and closed with prices of 19 stocks rising, 15 declining and 18 remaining unchanged. Salada Foods, Stanley Motta and Portland JSX traded at 52 weeks’ high while Margaritaville traded at a 52 weeks’ low. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings closed, averages 16.4.
Investors exchanged 12,977,111 shares for $274,593,779 up from 10,464,481 units at $56,687,872 on Tuesday. PanJam Investment led trading with 19.9 percent of total volume for 2.59 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 16.5 percent for 2.14 million units, Wigton Windfarm 12.3 percent with 1.60 million units, JMMB Group chipped in with 9.6 percent for 1.25 million units and Pulse Investments with 7.8 percent for 1.01 million units changing hands.
Trading averaged 249,560 units at $5,280,650, compared to an average of 209,290 shares at $1,133,757 on Tuesday. Month to date trading averages 230,354 units at $1,717,673, in contrast to 229,131 units at $1,490,898 on Tuesday. March averaged 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

Mayberry Investments gained 20 cents to close at $5.35 with 42,583 stock units crossing the exchange, NCB Financial Group lost 40 cents to end at $139.60 in a transfer of 46,004 shares, Palace Amusement advanced $1 to $950 with 51 stocks crossing the exchange. PanJam Investment finished $1.10 lower at $62.52 with an exchange of 2,586,959 shares, Portland JSX rose $1.75 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $9.75 in switching ownership of 14,852 units, Pulse Investments shed 31 cents to settle at $4.08 with the swapping of 1,014,801 stock units. Salada Foods jumped 85 cents ending at a 52 weeks’ high of $7.35 in switching ownership of 50,799 stocks. Seprod dropped $2.48 to end at $80.02 with 13,979 units changing hands, Stanley Motta rose 55 cents in closing at a 52 weeks’ high of $6.40 in transferring 1,008 stocks, Supreme Ventures ended 80 cents higher at $16.95 after trading of 147,975 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments gained 26 cents to close at $15.19 with 28,342 units crossing the market.
