JSE Main Market suffers setback on Monday

Market activity ended on the Main Market on Monday with the volume of shares trading marginally lower, with the value jumping 394 percent from Friday and the market indices falling, as declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by some distance.
The market closed, with the All Jamaican Composite Index lost 641.27 points to end at 457,069.35. The JSE main Index dropped 520.39 points to 415,194.70 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.26 points to settle at 100.87.
A total of 51 securities traded on Monday compared to 49 that traded on Friday, and ended, with 17 stocks rising, 25 declining and nine remained unchanged.
The PE Ratio, a measure used to compute appropriate stock values, averages 15.7 based on ICInsider.com’s earnings forecast for 2021-22. The market closed with 15,594,454 shares  changing hands for $851,732,015 as NCB Financial dominated trading on Monday, versus 15,660,104 units at $172,250,884 on Friday.
NCB Financial led trading with 37.3 percent of total volume as 5.81 million shares changed hands, followed by Wigton Windfarm 11.6 percent, with 1.81 million units, 1834 Investments 9.9 percent market share, with 1.55 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 8.3 percent market share or 1.29 million units, Sygnus Credit Investments 8.1 percent market share, with 1.26 million units and Radio Jamaica 6.6 percent market share, with an exchange of 1.03 million units.
Trading averaged 305,774 units at $16,700,628, compared to 319,594 shares at $3,515,324 on Friday and month to date an average of 487,063 units at $8,855,423, in contrast to 497,417 units at $8,407,376 on Friday. July closed with an average of 322,932 units at $15,201,099.

GraceKennedy rallied 99 cents to $104 with a transfer of 14,480 stocks, Guardian Holdings lost $3 to end at $581 with 4,691 units traded, Jamaica Broilers popped 30 cents to $33.40 with an exchange of 1,738 shares. Big bounce into the weekend for JSE majors

The Main Market All Jamaican Composite Index surged 4,560.86 points to 457,710.62, the highest daily close since July 23, while the JSE Main Index jumped 3,833.76 points to 415,715.09 and the JSE Financial Index inched 1.17 points to 101.13 as rising stocks beating declining ones nearly 2 to 1 on Friday, with the volume and value of shares trading, rising moderately over Thursday levels, at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
A total of 49 securities traded compared to 48 on Thursday, with 20 stocks rising, 12 declining, with 17 unchanged. Caribbean Cement ended at a 52 weeks’ closing high at the close of the market. Overall, 15,660,104 shares trading for $172,250,884, up from 15,130,149 units at $148,604,629 on Thursday. Market index rises with reduced trading

Market activity ended on Wednesday, with the indices rebounding strongly, but trading ended with prices of more stocks declining than rising after the volume and value traded dropped 41 percent and 92 percent respectively from Tuesday’s outturn on the Main Market of Jamaica Stock Exchange.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index surged 4,192.74 points to close at 453,321.02, the Main Index climbed 3,384.75 points to 412,952.02 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.88 points to 101.00.
Trading ended with 51 securities similar to Tuesday, with 17 stocks rising, 24 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. Caribbean Cement and Radio Jamaica closed at a 52 weeks’ high and Guardian Holding traded at an intraday low. Stocks declined for a sixth straight day at the close of activity on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the market trading 66 percent more stock units, after 53 percent more funds supported trading activity over that on Monday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dived 2,990.07 points to 449,128.28, the Main Index fell 2,885.86 points to 409,567.27 and the JSE Financial Index lost 1.06 points to settle at 100.12.
Trading ended with 51 securities compared to 47 on Monday, with 21 stocks rising, 22 declining and eight closing unchanged. The PE Ratio of the Main Market averages 15.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 18,303,242 shares trading for $861,108,533, up from 11,076,496 units at $563,895,212 on Monday. Radio Jamaica led trading with 6 million shares to control 33 percent of total volume, with the stock hitting an intraday high of $4.30 to finish at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $4.04. NCB Financial Group followed, with 5.86 million units and 32 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Windfarm with 1.46 million units for 8 percent market share and Mayberry Jamaican Equities controlled 1.25 million units, with 6.9 percent market share.

Trading spikes on Friday for JSE majors

Market activity ended on Friday with a fourth consecutive day of decline after three stocks falling for every two that rose, with volume traded and value surging 567 percent and 650 percent higher than on Thursday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index slipped 158.71 points to 454,372.96, the Main Index dropped 804.45 points to settle at 414,361.10 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.08 points to end at 102.30.

JSE Main Market down again

The Jamaica Stock Exchange  Main Market slipped moderately for a third consecutive day when market activity ended on Thursday with declining stocks outnumbered rising ones, after an exchange of 127 percent more shares valued 98 percent higher than on Wednesday.

The All Jamaican Composite Index lost 916.98 points to settle at 454,531.67, the JSE Main Index shed 587.19 points to 415,165.55 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.19 points to end at 102.38.
Trading ended with 53 securities compared to 52 on Wednesday, with 12 stocks rising, 27 declining and 14 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, a measure that computes appropriate stock values, averages 15.4 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
A total of 22,302,736 shares were traded for $185,523,053, up from 9,829,573 units at $93,904,028 versus 9,829,573 units at $93,904,028 on Wednesday. JSE Main Market gives up over 8,400 points

Market activity led the All Jamaican Composite Index to shed 40.92 points 455,448.65 at the close of trading after the market shot up 8,411 points to 463,900.77 after 15 minutes of trading in the morning session on Wednesday, with more stocks rising than declining, but with the volume and value of stocks trading dropping 88 and 94 percent respectively, compared to Tuesday as the curtain closed for the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The JSE Main Index dipped 308.45 points to 415,752.74 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.26 points to end at 102.19.
Trading ended with 52 securities compared to 51 on Tuesday, with 23 stocks rising, 15 declining and 14 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, a measure that computes appropriate stock values, averages 15.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.

Supreme Ventures turn to dominate

For a second consecutive trading day another stock, investors traded more than $1 billion in one stock, with Barita Investments hitting the mark on Monday and Supreme Ventures on Tuesday as trading in the stock dominated market activity with 88 percent of total volume after an exchange of 74 million of the company’s shares worth $1.4 billion as market activity ended on Tuesday, with the all indices declining after the volume of shares traded surged 155 percent, with 14 percent lower value than on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.

In the preference segment, Eppley 8.25% fell 42 cents to $6.06 after exchanging 448 units.

QWI Investments was the second leading trade, with 11 percent after an exchange of 1.92 million units, Transjamaican Highway chipped in, with 8.4 percent for 1.46 million and Wigton Windfarm ended with 8 percent for an exchange of 1.39 million units.
