JSE in big rise again – Tuesday

Trading on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Tuesday with JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbing 1,439.19 points to 317,974.26 and the JSE Index advancing by 1,311.26 points to 289,710.51.
Tuesday was the second consecutive day with gains of more than 1,300 in the market indices. The number of securities trading, rose above that on Monday, but the value traded fell sharply. Main market activity ended with 5,490,162 shares valued at a mere $27,746,053 changing hands, in contrast to 6,473,345 shares valued at $82,423,988 trading on Monday.
Main and US market activities ended with moderate trading levels, leading to prices of 8 securities rising, 14 falling, 9 trading firm as 31 securities changed hands, including 2 from the US market versus 27 that traded on Monday.
The major contributors to the total volume in the market include Ciboney with over 970,000 units, 1834 Investments trading over 2.3 million units, Radio Jamaica with more than 520,000 units and Wisynco with just over 800,000 units. Kingston Wharves jumped $5.55 to a new record high of $42.60, Barita Investments rose 94 cents to end at $8.45, while PanJam Investment rose $1.85 to $41.85, but NCB Financial lost 95 cents to close at $99, Salada Foods fell $1.49 to $10.51 and Scotia Group lost $1 to end at $52.
The US market closed with Margaritaville concluded trading at 22 US cents with 2,835 shares and Proven Investments fell 1.95 cents in exchanging 4,474 ordinary shares, to close at 21 US cents. The market closed with 132,964 shares trading with a value of US$27,986 and the JSE US Equities Index falling 8.95 points to close at 165.23.
Market activity ended with an average of 189,316 shares valued at $956,760, in contrast to 258,934 shares valued at $3,296,960 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 182,709 units valued at $3,152,487 and previously, 181,904 units valued at $3,455,707. January ended with an average of 239,900 units valued at $5,158,193 for each security traded.

9 new IPOs for 2018

Last year (2017), was a great year for Jamaican stocks with prices of several stocks more than doubling on the Jamaican Stock Exchange and 10 new companies listing on the exchange.
2018 seems poised to be another year for a number of new issues on the market as business owners take advantage of a buoyant market for equity investments.
The local market should have new 9 issues, Marlene Streete-Forrest, the JSE Managing Director confirmed. Streete-Forrest expects that 5 issues will list on the Junior Market and 4 for the main market. New financial entity Sygnus Capital is said to be heading to the public in January. Other listings expected shortly are Caribbean Insurance Brokers, NevEast and Elite Diagnostics. University College of the Caribbean with its main operations in Kingston, Jamaica, is expected to be the first educational institution to seek to list on the stock exchange. The listing is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2018. Mayberry Investment is also expected to bring their subsidiary, Mayberry West Indies to market by February.
In 2017, the Jamaica Stock Exchange had 10 new companies listing on the exchange, including 2 new companies listing preference shares. Two new listings were on the main market one on the US dollar market and 5 on the Junior Market.
Scotia Investments, Trinidad Cement, Montego Bay Ice and Margaritaville preference share were delisted during the year.

14,568 points slashed off AJIndex in 2 weeks

Investors cut 4.5 percent or 14,568.35 points in two weeks off the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index, as it dropped 3,027.95 points on Monday to close at 306,608.74. During the same period, the JSE Index dived 13,273.42 or 4.5 percent, to close with a fall of 2,758.81 points on Monday at 279,355.24.
Trading on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Monday with 24 securities changing hands, as 7 advanced, 12 declined and 4 traded firm with 19,187,109 units valued at $205,077,757 compared to 10,390,820 units valued at $339,090,865 on Friday.
Trading ended with an average of 799,463 units for an average of $8,544,907 in contrast to 451,775 units for an average of $14,743,081 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 358,678 units valued at $5,630,484 and previously, an average of 333,369 units valued at $5,463,149. In contrast, October closed with an average of 1,185,251 units valued at $16,528,582 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows 8 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and 2 with lower offers.
In the US dollar market Margaritaville ordinary share traded 2,300 units at 19 us cents valued at just US$21.
The main movers for the day are, NCB Financial Group dropping $1, Sagicor Group fell $1.60 trading 2,026,098 units and Seprod jumped $1.80. Ciboney traded at a 52 weeks’ high of 45 cents.

Caribbean Cement stock price jumped $2 on Monday to close at $35.

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dropped by 1,137.09 points to close at 314,851.62 and the JSE Index declined by 1,036.02 points to close at 286,865.44 on Monday as nine stocks had wild movement in prices ranging from 79 cents to $2.
The US dollar market index fell 6.90 points to 161.90 as 3 securities traded in this market with a volume of 119,502 units valued at US$33,226. The US dollar market that was up sharply in the first half of the year is now trading in negative territory with the two major contributors to the big move in 2017 suffering sharp reversal in fortunes. The main market closed with 4,115,612 units valued at $48,667,070 trading.
Trading on the Main Market and the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with 26 securities changing hands, as 8 advanced, 12 declined and 6 traded firm.
In the main activity Berger Paints finished at $16, with 23,483 shares, Cable & Wireless settled 2 cents higher at $1.07, with 1,295,319 shares trading, Caribbean Cement ended trading $2 higher at $35, with 393,242 stock units, Carreras traded with a loss of 20 cents at $11.20, with 540,401 units. Ciboney Group finished trading at a 52 weeks’ high after rising 2 cents to close at 27 cents, with 471,130 shares, Grace Kennedy closed 10 cents higher at $43.10, with 102,504 shares, Jamaica Broilers ended at $18.80, with 14,074 stock units, Jamaica Stock Exchange finished with a loss of 1 cent at $7, with 29,960 shares. JSE Main market bounces – Monday

Stocks rising and falling were equal at 8 each at the close of trading when the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Monday, with the All Jamaican Composite Index gaining 447.76 points to 321,177.09 and the JSE Index advanced 407.96 points to close at 292,628.66.
Trading ended with 13,891,915 units, valued at $50,338,524 from 22 securities traded in the main market and 42,934 units trading in the US dollar market.
In the main market activity, Barita Investments ended trading with 1,500 shares and lost 3 cents to close at $8.85, Caribbean Cement climbed $1.99 to $33, with 8,450 stock units, Carreras finished at $11.50, with 219,803 units changing hands, Ciboney Group settled 2 cents higher at 19 cents with 2,000 shares. Grace Kennedy finished with a loss of 49 cents at $42.01, while 262,427 shares traded, Jamaica Broilers finished at $18.50, with 4,795 stock units, Jamaica Producers ended trading 35 cents higher at $15.55, with 68,270 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with a loss of 9 cents at $6.90, with 9,200 shares trading. JMMB Group fell $1.60 to $28.90, with 159,108 shares, Kingston Wharves closed 50 cents higher at $33, trading 56,819 units, Mayberry Investments concluded trading at $5, with 111,745 shares, NCB Financial Group ended with a loss of $1 at $107, with 50,770 stock units changing hands. Scotia Group dropped $3 to $46.

Trading on the Main and US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with an almost even advance decline ratio resulting in the market indices slipping in a shortened trading session that commenced in the afternoon after the regular closing time had passed.
The volume of securities trading and the days last traded price are, Barita Investments that ended with a loss of 25 cents at $7.75, with 6,700 shares. Berger Paints concluded trading with a loss of 75 cents at $11.25, with 7,256 units, Cable & Wireless ended with a loss of 4 cents at $1, with 170,543 stocks changing hands, Carreras finished 50 cents higher at $11.50, with 464,114 units, Grace Kennedy finished $1.45 higher at $43.50, with 5,737 shares, Jamaica Broilers ended 50 cents higher at $17.50, with 39,878 stock units, Jamaica Producers concluded trading at $15, with 13,350 shares, JMMB Group finished 70 cents higher at $22.70, with 41,657 units, Kingston Properties finished at $7, with 2,000 shares, Kingston Wharves dropped $2.22 trading 18,341 shares to end at $28.51. JSE gives up gains in early trading – Tuesday

Demand came in for a number of stocks on Tuesday morning in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange with Margaritaville Turks having 577,051 units changing hands having gained 2.47 US cents to trade at 17.47 US cents.
JSE intra 19-04-16 Other stocks that came in for decent demand are, Grace Kennedy with 61,027 shares, Jamaica Broilers 79,000 shares, Radio Jamaica 125,520 stock units, Caribbean Cream 143,550 shares, Lasco Financial Services 144,669 units and Lasco Manufacturing with 74,201 shares.
Trading saw all major indices rising after 75 minutes of trading on Tuesday with an average of 57,433 per active stock traded, up from an average of 54,170 units traded in the mid-morning session on Tuesday.
A total of 23 securities compared, accounting for 1,320,967 shares changed hands at 10.45 am as 7 stocks gained and 7 declined.
The market saw the all Jamaica Composite Index dived 3,468.44 points to 167,465.91, the JSE Market Index dropped 3,101.35 points to 150,786.29the JSE combined index ending with a fall of 2,931.71 points to 159,046.28 and the junior market index fell 5.34 points to 1,869.38.

Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, resulted in the prices of 9 stocks rising, 12 declining as 28 securities changed hands, ending in 1,649,208 units trading, valued at $11,833,234, in all market segments.
The JSE Market Index gained 112.16 points to 98,382.51, theJSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 125.41 points to end at 108,714.51 and the JSE combined index declined by 12.53 points to close at 100,575.43.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows 12 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 13 with offers that were lower. 7 of the lower offers are in the junior market and 2 are preference shares, an indication that main market ordinary

shares strength remains fairly intact at this stage and may be one reason the main market indices, recorded gains at the end of trading.
Trading included Berger Paints trading 5,000 shares to close with a loss of 40 cents at $2.60, Cable & Wireless ended with 438,117 shares at 46 cents, for a gain of 1 cent, Caribbean Cement slipped 4 cents with 48,850 shares trading, to close at $4.55, Carreras closed with 92,083 units trading at $49, by dropping $1. Desnoes & Geddes lost 44 cents in trading 5,000 shares in closing at $7.26, Grace Kennedy gained 35 cents with 9,905 units changing hands in closing at $62.50. Jamaica Stock Exchange slipped 15 cents with 43,700 shares trading at $3.35, JMMB Group had 73,345 shares trading with a gain of 44 cents to $8.89,

Margaritaville (Turks) ended with 100,000 shares trading at 10 US cents, Mayberry Investments traded just 1,020 units but lost 15 cents to end at $2.85. National Commercial Bank traded unchanged with 25,000 units at $30, Pan Jamaican traded only 1,700 shares to end with a gain of $1.19 at $60, Proven Investments closed with 17,700 units to gain almost a cent to 20.48 US cents. Radio Jamaica traded 50,000 shares unchanged at $2.58, Sagicor Group gained 50 cents in trading 135,347 units to close at $12, Scotia Group gained 36 cents with 2,190 shares trading, to end at $25.32. Scotia Investments traded only 176 units in gaining 35 cents to $25.85, Seprod lost 50 cents in trading 5,000 units at $17.50 and Supreme Ventures lost 30 cents with 10,727 units changing hands at $3.60.

In Thursday’s activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, Jamaica Producers was the dominant trade with 3.3 million shares valued at more than $56 million. The bulk of the trades were done between Proven Wealth as the broker selling and JMMB securities as the buying broker. The market closed with the prices of 7 stocks rising, 11 declining as 21 securities changed hands, ending in 9,405,774 units trading, valued at $71,370,572, in all market segments.
strong> Main Market| The JSE Market Index lost 74.26 points to 78,232.91, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 83.03 points to close at 86,186.33 and the JSE combined index declined by 115.44 points to 80,117.64.

Gains| Stocks gaining with last traded prices, at the end of trading in the main market are, Desnoes & Geddes in concluding trading with 17,732 shares, the price jumped 8 cents to $4.90, Hardware & Lumber closing with 69,100 shares while gaining 7 cents to $6.57, but after 49,100 units traded at $7.70. Palace Amusement finished with 150 shares to end with an increase of $4 to $70 and Sagicor Real Estate Fund in trading 850 units, put on 15 cents to $6.95.
Firm| The stocks in the main market to close without a change in the last traded prices are, Jamaica Money Market Brokers finished with 121,051 ordinary shares trading at $7 and Jamaica Producers closed with 3,306,500 shares changing hands at $17.

Declines| The last traded prices of stocks with losses at the end of trading in the main market are, Caribbean Cement finishing with 2,535 units trading to end 1 cents lower at $2.40. Carreras ending trading with 3,681 shares to decline by 50 cents at $44.50, Jamaica Broilers closing with 12,085 shares changing hands 5 cents down at $4, Margaritaville closed with just 190 units trading, as the price slipped 7 cents to 9.80 US cents. Mayberry Investments had 75,000 shares trading lower by 4 cents to $1.96, Radio Jamaica closed with 5,642 shares changing hands to close lower by 1 cent to $1.10, Sagicor Group ending with 10,000 units trading 5 cents lower to $10.25 and Scotia Group finished with 96,000 units to fall 45 cents to $20.05.

Financial stocks pull JSE down

NCB stock fell back to $18.80 from the $19.99 it was pushed to on Thursday

Friday’s activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange saw decline in the prices of Jamaica Money Market Brokers, National Commercial Bank and Scotia Group pulling the main market indices down more than 700 points. On Thursday National Commercial Bank closed at a new 52 weeks high at $19.99, leaving a big gap between buyers and sellers, hence the fall on Friday.
Investors participated in a small number of securities on Friday, resulting in the prices of 6 rising and 6 declining as 17 securities changed hands and ended with 2,404,440 units, valued at $12,847,928 traded, in all market segments. At the close there was demand for more with bids failing to attract sellers at the closing bid prices.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the close of the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows 8 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 4 with offers that were lower.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index lost 702.66 points to 76,333.54, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 785.62 points to close at 84,062.74 and the JSE combined index declined by 667.53 points to close at 78,323.69.

JMMB stock closed down to $6.50 on Friday but JSE had the price falling 54 cents in computing the index.

Gains| Stocks gaining with last traded prices, at the end of trading in the main market are, Cable & Wireless closing with 236,428 shares changing hands, 2 cents higher at 48 cents, Grace Kennedy ending with 3,383 units, with the price rising $1.50 to end at $63. Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading with 795,000 units changing hands and gained 30 cents to $1.90, Margaritaville finished with 46,000 shares changing hands to close with a gain of 0.05 cents to 10.5 US cents and Sagicor Real Estate Fund ended with 10,000 units trading, to close with a 15 cents gain at $7.20.
