Junior Market slips on Thursday but..

Market activity dipped, with 20 percent fewer shares trading than on Tuesday, following the Ash Wednesday break, but the market ended with more stocks rising than declining on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, but the market Index slipped moderately at the close.
Trading ended with 37 securities changing hands compared to 39 on Tuesday and concluded with the prices of 16 stocks rising, ten declining and 11 remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index lost 10.53 points to finish at 2,877.69.
The PE Ratio averages 15.2 based on ICInsider.com’s  2020-21 earnings forecast. The market closed with 5,225,893 shares traded for $16,022,590 down from 6,496,040 units at $19,574,623 on Tuesday.
Derrimon Trading led trading with 17.1 percent of total volume after exchanging 895,494 shares, followed by Jamaican Teas with 14.5 percent of the day’s trade or 757,249 units and Lumber Depot with 14 percent market share with a transfer of 730,545 units.
Trading averaged 141,240 units at $433,043 down from 166,565 at $501,913 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averages 408,900 shares at $980,150, lower than 431,459 units at $1,026,262 on Tuesday. January closed with an average of 232,651 units at $569,885.

Sharp Junior Market rebound – Tuesday

Stocks jumped 94.40 points to close at 2,888.22 after rising and declining stocks matched each other in trading on Tuesday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange as investors exchanged 91 percent fewer shares than on Monday.

More gains for Junior Market

Rising stocks dominated trading on Friday and allowing Junior Market stocks to hold on to modest gains in the market index for a second consecutive day, with 53 percent of the stocks traded rising after an exchange of 75 percent more shares than on Thursday and values 135 percent higher.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands, up from 34 on Thursday and closed with the prices of 19 stocks rising, 11 declining and six ending unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index eked out a 7.52 points gain to close at 2,814.15, to be up 7.5 percent up for the year to date. The average PE Ratio ended at 14.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Stocks lost upward momentum on Wednesday dropping 20.92 points to settle just above the 2,800 mark at 2,800.57 after hitting an intraday high of 2860.54 points within three minutes of the Junior Market’s opening as the market ended with declining stocks dominated rising ones.

The volume of stocks surged on Thursday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with volume climbing 321 percent higher than on Wednesday pushing the value up 338 percent as five securities traded over one million units.

At the close of the market, Blue Power fell 8 cents to $2.75 with 30,353 shares changing hands, Cargo Handlers jumped $1.33 to $7.93 with 2,000 units traded, Caribbean Cream dipped 49 cents to $4.55 trading 4,880 stocks. Caribbean Producers declined 20 cents to $2.60 with an exchange of 23,850 shares, Elite Diagnostic lost 20 cents to close at $2.75 with 25,300 units changing hands. Express Catering dropped 24 cents to $3.50 with a transfer of 46,111 shares, Fosrich lost 10 cents to finish at $4.40 with the trading of 12,514 stocks, General Accident advanced 15 cents to $6.15 with 400 stock units changing hands, Honey Bun fell  35 cents to $5.50 with 55,967 units passing through the market. Jamaican Teas exchanged 1,712,909 stock units and lost 19 cents to close at $2.80, Knutsford Express jumped 45 cents to $6.75 with 843 units changing hands, Lasco Distributors lost 4 cents to close at $3.35 with 300 stock units traded. Lasco Financial fell 10 cents to $2.60 in trading 375,036 shares, Lasco Manufacturing gained 17 cents to $3.88 with 93,150 units passing through the market. Main Event climbed 18 cents to $3.30 with a transfer of 171,000 units, Medical Disposables dropped 21 cents to $3.99 with 25,194 stocks passing through the market and tTech advanced 16 cents to $4.56 with 5,377 units changing hands.

Caribbean Flavours leads trading

Caribbean Flavours lead trading on Tuesday with 47.7 percent of total volume, on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with investors snapping up 7.4 million shares, followed by Derrimon Trading with 32 percent of the day’s trade with 4.97 million units.

Rounding out the top three was Jamaican Teas with 5.7 percent market share with an exchange of 885,180 units.
The market declined with falling stocks just outnumbering rising ones after an exchange of 281 percent more shares, with a value that was 193 percent greater than on Monday.
Trading ended with 34 securities, down from 36 on Monday and closed with 13 rising, 14 declining and seven remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index lost 16.72 points to 2,745.01. The average PE Ratio ended at 14 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with trading of 15,516,613 shares for $36,243,327 up from 4,077,181 units at $12,358,168 on Monday.
Trading averaged 456,371 units at $1,065,980 in contrast to 113,255 at $343,282 on Monday. The month to date, averaged 279,911 units at $694,307. January closed with an average of 232,651 units at $569,885.

Caribbean Flavours exchanged  7,400,315 stock units and gained 6 cents to close at $2.04, Honey Bun dropped 14 cents to $5.85 with 17,090 stocks changing hands,  Indies Pharma advanced 23 cents to $2.80 with 218,306 units traded. Knutsford Express dropped 40 cents to $6.30 after exchanging  4,888 stocks, Lasco Distributors climbed 19 cents to $3.39 with 38,609 units changing hands. Lasco Manufacturing gained 4 cents to end at $3.71 with 174,629 shares traded, Limners and Bards advanced 15 cents to $2.72 with a transfer of 46,156 stocks. Stationery and Office Supplies dropped 26 cents to $4.28 with 7,402 shares changing hands and tTech shed 45 cents to close at $4.40 with 14,623 stock units crossing the exchange.
