JSE up sharply in early trading
The Jamaica Stock Market has recorded a sharp rise in early trading as 18 stocks rose, landing the main indices at more than 1,900 points above Friday’s close, the junior market also recorded gains. A total of 5 stocks have traded at new highs.
Activity so far led to 1,931,843 units trading with 25 securities traded as 18 stocks rose and only 3 declined.
At 11 am, the all Jamaica Composite Index is climbed 2,231.55 points to 160,281.87, the JSE Market Index rose 1,996.81 points to 144,355.65 the JSE combined index gained 2,176.34 points to be at 150,948.84 and the junior market index was down 32.60 points to 1,641.24.
With 90 minutes of trading having elapsed, three junior market stocks changed hands at new 52 weeks’ high as AMG Packaging traded 662 units at $7 for the first time, Dolphin Cove had just 300 shares trading at a new high of $17, Knutsford Express also traded at a new high with 300 shares at $11 and so did Lasco Distributors with 2,426 shares at $4.65. Lasco Manufacturing traded 1,464,667 at $3.38 and the Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 5,000 units at $19 for a new high with 1,110 percent gain since the start of the year.
