The record-breaking run by the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange was halted, in trading on Wednesday, with the market index declining 28.31 points to close at 3,540.54 for the first fall in 12 days.
Junior Market ended trading with 35 securities changing hands, down from 32 on Monday, as prices of 13 securities rose, 15 declined and 7 remained unchanged.
At the close, Limners and Bards ended at a record close of $3.94, but traded as high as $4.51, Elite Diagnostic closed at a record high of $6.50, after trading as high as $7. Jamaican Teas traded at an intra-day record of $8 but closed at a record closing high of $7.95, Lasco Financial traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $6.50 and Lasco Manufacturing ended at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.16.
Market activities resulted in an exchange of 7,903,203 units valued at $35,396,687 compared to 5,633,068 units valued at $25,345,257 on Monday.
Trading ended with an average of 225,806 units for an average of $1,011,334 in contrast to 176,033 units for an average of $792,039 on Monday for each security traded. New record high for the JSE main market.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange in trading on Monday with the market closing at a new record high, with the index rising 31.64 to close at 3,569 with a 10 percent gain for the year.
Junior Market ended trading with 32 securities changing hands, down from 35 on Friday, as prices of 14 securities rose, 12 declined and 6 remained unchanged.
At the close, Limners and Bards ended at a record close of $3.90, Elite Diagnostic closed at a record high of $6.40, General Accident closed at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.40, Lasco Financial traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.97 but Jamaican Teas traded at an intra-day record of $7.50 but pulled back after.

2019 Junior Market losses almost cleared

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market Index rose 38.69 points to close at 3,189.88 on Tuesday and sits just 1.8 percent below the opening level for the year and just slightly lower than the close on January 23.
Blue Power jumped to a 52 weeks’ intraday high of $10 while Elite Diagnostic traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.20 but pulled back to $5 at the close.
The market closed on Tuesday with 31 securities changing hands, compared to 28 on Monday, resulting in the prices of 11 rising 10 declining and 7 remaining unchanged.

Trading levels pulled back sharply on Tuesday at the close of the Junior Market and ending with 27 securities changing hands, against 35 on Monday.

Junior Market inched higher – Wednesday

Trading levels declined on Wednesday compared to Tuesday, ending with 2,945,014 units valued at $13,949,439 changing hands, compared to 6,856,068 units valued $29,636,228 changing hands previously.
Trading ended with an average of 101,552 units for an average of $481,015 in contrast to 228,536 units for an average of $987,874 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 226,213 shares carrying a value of $959,667 compared to 244,564 shares carrying a value of $1,030,128 previously. In contrast, May closed with an average of 81,626 units for an average of $311,248 for each security traded.
At the close of market activities, 29 securities changed hands, compared to 30 on Tuesday, resulting in prices of 4 advancing, 15 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The market index rose a mere 3.05 points to close at 3,130.94.

Lasco stocks bow out of IC TOP 10

Lasco Manufacturing that IC Insider last week suggested readers keep a keen eye on, reported outstanding full year results and climbed 18.5 percent to $3.85 on Friday, exit the Junior Market IC Insider.com’s TOP 10.
Lasco Financial came in with full year results that were above the 2018 figures and the price moved up to $5. IC Insider downgraded 2020 earnings to 60 cents per share, the combination of the two changes, pushed the stock outside the TOP 10, Jetcon is the third stock to move out of the top tier. Coming in to replace the above are CAC 2000, Everything Fresh and Consolidated Bakeries, all three newcomers have been having challenges with growing profits.
Carreras reported flat profits for the year to March resulting in downgrading of 2020 profits, with the stock no longer in the TOP 10, also leaving is Caribbean Cement with the price recovering during the week to close at $78, the two are replaced by Stanley Motta and Sygnus Credit Investments.
The three leading Junior Market stocks for the coming week are, Caribbean Producers with projected gains of 272 percent, followed by Iron Rock with likely gains of 243 percent and Medical Disposables with possible gains of 233 percent.
Sterling Investments with potential gains of 174 percent leads main market stocks, followed by Radio Jamaica with 159 percent and VM Investments in third spot with the potential to gain 141 percent within twelve months.
The main market, closed the week with the overall PE at 14.8 and the Junior Market at 11.1. The PE ratio for Junior Market Top 10 stocks averages 6.8 and the main market PE 9. These levels, point to a big upside for TOP 10 stocks over the next 12 months and Junior Market stocks in particular.
The TOP 10 stocks now trade at an average discount of 39 percent to the average for the Junior Market Top stocks and main market stocks trade at a discount of 39 percent to the overall market.
TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns within a 12 months period. Projected earnings, for each company’s current fiscal year, are used in determining, the selected stocks. The PE for and projected earnings for each stock are computed to show potential gains for the year, which are ranked in descending order.
